Fanblogs.com: 2008 Preseason AP College Football Top 25 Poll

  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 1 year ago
Very, very interesting to see such slim margin between Ohio State and Georgia. With USC ranked so high, it would stand to reason that USC/Ohio State winner should leapfrog UGA within the first few weeks of the poll.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
I think quite a few teams will leapfrog Georgia before it's all over...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
    i think so to.
but the biggest beef i have with the HUMAN polls, is why is OSU ranked so high??
we're human voters. were supposed to have the logical approach.
OSU has been embarrassed TWICE in the national spotlight, but yet, we rank them #2 because "theyre out to prove everyone wrong????"
OSU is a complete joke, and have NO business being in the top 5.
if they beat USC, then we can talk.
  • OleBlueDog · 1 year ago
Completely agree. The Big Ten (all eleven of them) is propped up every year by this rivalry that America is so infatuated with. Michigan is so good because they were able to beat Ohio State. Or more recently, Ohio State is so good because they beat Michigan. It's a bunch of crap. Let's think back to before prisoner # 1647345 (Clarett) carried the Buckeyes to their only post-Woody Hayes championship (nice pass interference call, ref)... The Buckeyes couldn't even beat South Carolina in a pair of Outback Bowls! The conference is overrated, as is Ohio State. Only about half the time does a team win this league outright... As soon as Charlie Weis runs ND into the ground and NBC cancels their contract, the Big Ten needs to scoop up the poor little Irish and have themselves a championship game. I believe it would do wonders for the conference.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
What makes you think USC isn't a joke, as well?

I think anyone that watched Sanchez play last year, and realizes that this team is capable of such spectacular mental lapses such as Stanford last year, could honestly say that a kid with a bum knee injury and that track record is going to pilot the Trojans to a Top 10 finish...

I sincerely believe they're going to underwhelm a lot of folks, but the media has set the winner of that USC/OSU game up as a national title contender simply by ranking them that highly...

Neither one is as good as advertised...
  • Matt Phillips · 1 year ago
USC isn't a joke as they have actually proven that they won't get embarrassed on the BCS level...

In fact most of the time they win.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
UCLA & Stanford would like to discuss this post with you, Matty...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
well. lets just put it this way:
if USC makes it to the title game, which, barring a mental lapse, could very well happen, could you see them getting blown out in the fashion that OSU does every year??

    me neither.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
I like the rankings of Utah and Michigan. Fresno and Rutgers are interesting as well. All four of those teams will be ranked if they win opening week.

I am going to have to disagree with Penn state, Alabama and Pittsbugh in the top 25.

Missouri is still IMO too high. Better poll than the USA today if closeness to my ideas are is being measured. I Like BYU at #16. Actually I like a MWC team at #2. Would rather it be Utah, TCU or anyone other than BYU.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 1 year ago
I was thinking that Utah would be higher, honestly. From a BCS standpoint, beating a 30-something Michigan may not end up being the feather that I expected it would be for the Utes. It now looks like their only top 25 game is going to be BYU.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
I am holding out hope for a 2-1 Oregon State with a close one against USC to be in the top 25.

TCU might end up in the picture as well.

I honestly feel many polsters are holding back on both Utah and Michigan, waiting to see the results of that opener. Same for Fresno and Rutgers.
  • Marko · 1 year ago
You are not beating Michigan, so don't worry about it.
  • Zac · 1 year ago
Mmmmm, don't be so certain, Marko; don't be so certain. There's a lot of things happeing with Rodriguez & the new offense. As I've said many times, there will be growing pains. Now, if MI beats Utah, it'll be solid win they can and should be proud of. The Utes bring a decent club to the Big House this year. They will give your Wolvarines all they can handle and more. I calling for the upset. Best of luck.
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
Well Florida was picked to win the SEC east and Auburn the west.

Seems kind of odd that they could be ranked lower then Georgia and LSU.

Either way i give little thought to preseason polls.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
Just because the local media are dumber than the national media doesn't mean anything...

Georgia returns the fewest total starts along their offensive line in the entire conference after losing Sturdivant...Just 25 games between the two guys from last year...

Their hopes for a national title are not going to make it out of Baton Rouge...Period.

As for Auburn...It's going to be a war in Jordan Hare, there's no doubting that...But I like LSU against AU...New QB, no offense, no experience, new DC, and NO secondary...It's tough but very doable...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
oh yeah, and you forgot to mention that one of the starters in the secondary got involved in one of the many brawls in practice, and broke his leg.
it looks like Tubby's "high-character" recruits are causing brawls all over the field.
this is the 72nd fight, and 3rd major loss due to a fight.
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
You want to talk about character? Then lets count the number of arrests of football players over there in T-town. I bet you can't count that high. Meaning that the number is well above "12". Now that's what I call character.
What are the other two "major losses" to the team that you speak of?
    J. Powers is the only one that I know of. D Furr is not what I would call a major loss only made it one day in practice, ran his mouth off got a LITTLE bet down and left tyhe team because he couldn't deal.
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
Marcus Jemison broke his leg, then you mention J. Powers, and Deron Furr, one of the few 4-stars you got last year, got jumped by 4 upperclassmen and left the team.
not to mention Antonio Coleman suffered a cervical sprain keeping him out of practice.

and to comment on the arrests:
obviously when you walk into a new group of players and you law down a strict code of conduct, some players won't abide by it.
they then distance themselves from the program and get arrested.
and you say well above 12??
Jimmy Johns, a walk-on, and Rashad Johnson are the only ones i can think of. and Rashad Johnson, after viewing the tape, was found innocent.
    so... i dont get it.

and i think all of the bad apples are out now.
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
A.C. suffered that in the spring game and is just fine now. Marcus was a back up at best. Deron Furr was pissed off about being moved to corner and ran his mouth to those upperclassmen and got his just rewards couldn't hang with the big boys so he transfered out to Fla.St. I think.May have been a 4 star recruit but so what we are loaded at QB right now . And have Raymond Cotton for next year.
And didn't Alabama have like 15 or 16 arrests in like 11 months. Can't remember the exact number now but that's what I call "character" in a program.
Simon Castille is one more that I can think of.
Any way fights on the practice field happen everywhere even in T-town that can mean that the boys are just ready to hit someone( on the field that is)
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
    BC,

A fan of the program can't really talk about "high-character" with guys like Julio "I knew the drug dealer, and the murdered person, and I was in the drug dealer murderer's car when he shot the murdered pereson, but I didn't know what was going on" Jones, and Jimmy "Crack" Corn Johns...

Just a friendly reminder, there, guy...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
    woah. man.
Julio Jones has never been arrested and didn't commit any crimes.
he was just asked to testify against his uncle.
dont hate on him just because he's straight from the hood.
hell, Adrian Peterson's dad is in jail. it says nothing about his character.

oh, and BTW, Julio Jones has officially won the #1 WR spot in fall camp.
in the last scrimmage he caught 5 passes, 125 yds., and a TD.
    loook out!!
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Bleed, AD's Dad was in prison, he was released in 06, and you have a good point about his character...
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
60 passing plays in that scrimmage...90 plays total...

The quarterback was sacked on 10% of the plays, by the way...

Oh, and believe me, outside of DJ Hall, you don't have much at WR to begin with, so congrats that the #1 "playah" in America coming out of HS won the starting WR job...

Better hope he does a better job getting pressed at the line than he did against our second string corner Phelon Jones when they played each other in High School, or, better yet, when he got SHUT DOWN in the HS All-Star games...

The difference between LSU & Alabama:

At Alabama, it takes one scrimmage, 90 plays, and a sorry secondary to help the best player in America out of HS to win a starting WR job.

At LSU, the best corner in the nation has moved all the way up to...SECOND STRING...

Talent, developmenet, and scheme...You can't have 1/3 and compete, BC...

Once again the eighteen year olds rants are not based on facts.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
In all fairness, fanblogs has plenty of much older people whose rants aren't based on facts...

Heck, some of mine have been...and I've got a decade + 1 on GrasshopperBleedCrimson
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
    True and fair enough.
I like BC he makes me feel young and fiesty. And im probably older then his Dad.
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
the only part of my rant not based on fact was the "72 fights" part.
    that was heresay.
but either way, its not good to have that spreading on the recruiting trail.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
Sort've like you don't want your coach on TV comparing a loss to ULM to Pearl Harbor & 9/11, as if he's so tranqued up he's completely off the plot?

Or sort've like the fact that your team's almost got a DOUBLE DIGIT LEAD in the Fulmer Cup?

Or the fact that your player's get arrested for selling the blowcaine ON CAMPUS in the parking lot of the Bayyyyahhhur's own Stadium?

Holy Houndstooth, BC! Definitely don't want the kids reading that stuff...Unless the kid is Julio Jones...Shoot...Crack dealers, undercover stings, murder, capital murder trials? That sounds like JUST the place Julio needs to fit in!

    TE
Have been reading here on Fanblogs for some time now only posting every now and then. But of everybody on here You and WEA have to be my favorites. Even if I don't agree with you I almost always find the humor in your posts. Thanks
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
As if he doesn't have a big enough head already !!!
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
Sorry OU_Ron that you weren't on my list. Nothing personal I just don't care to get as indepth about OU and the Big 12 as you so I usually only skim over your posts. As they are so often a jab at Texas or one of their fans.
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
wjohns07, nothing personal was taken, that was a " in fun jab " at TE, as we all like to do from time to time, and as far as taking jabs at Texas, well that's just part of the fun here at Fanblogs, oh and by the way, there's another Sooner fan on here that makes me look invisible when it comes to Texas...
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
Yea Lennie can get alittle over the top sometimes. That's why I usually over look him too LOL
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
wjohns07...you cannot be overlooking me that much to mention my name! You say you don't post here that much...well continue doing so!
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
I don't over look you just most of your posts about the Longhorns. You would probably do the same if I was ranting about Bama.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
wjohn07 you are in control of what you want to post on here. You can talk about your dislike for Alabama, Oklahoma, me, or whatever you want! At least introduce yourself before you make a comment about me. I get on here to see what Kevin gotz new and wham! My name being mentioned. 95% of my comments about Texas are in response to Bevo Boy and 1Tomcat so whatever ranting means it does not apply here to me! Next!
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
    I never said you ranted.
    I saved that word for
    myself. Now I'm sorry
that I offended you it was

You don't have to apologize! You did nothing wrong as far has I am concern. I have had more fly by posts attacks than anyone on here and it does not bother me at all. I AM NOT SAYING YOU WERE ATTACKING ME! The old timers on here understand me as I understand them. When I see someone without a logo by their name/handle and they mention my name I automatically get defensive.

Ive got tickets to this one TE.
Your right about one thing, this offense is unproven ,however it wouldnt take much to improve on our 108th ranking of a year ago.
We do return 10 guys that started games last year on offense, only new face is the QB. Well 10 since we dont use a full back anymore.

The secondary is thin but once again all the guys on the starting line up got a lot of playing time last year. Just no depth..

Hows your QB looking? I havent heard much about the Ivy leaguer
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
I'm going to with-hold some info that's pertinent to your question. I actually got to attend the 1st scrimmage this past Saturday in Tiger Stadium, and it was amazing...

Really excited about this team, but the situation at that position is being handled a specific way for a specific reason...Rest assured, I love Les Miles...and I love Gary Crowton...They're easily the greatest offensive minds in this conference...

    Some danged good recruiters, too...

Might see a few new wrinkles, or, should I say...a few less huddles...

    :-)
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
Whats a huddle? Oh i forgot thats what Al Borges used to do.
  • JB · 1 year ago
Hatch is doing well, and by my judgement will be the starter...though i think Lee will play a lot and Jefferson will play some in the early cupcake games( Appy St. North Tejas, Troy, etc)
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
All these polls are going to look totally different come conference play.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago

  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
    So close, yet so far.

I can't wait for Baylor/Wake Forest and South Carolina/NC State.

    Bring on opening Thursday!
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
Clemson Joe I totally agree and we will know a little more about some of these programs after the first week. Seems like some teams struggle early and cant really find themselves and then improve, while others start out like gangbusters then faulter later.
There is no pre-season in CFB and adjustments and rosters/ depth charts will change after week one. Some teams who may be favored will probably not try to show us too much, while others will be going all out,in order to prove themselves to all the doubters.
Seems like alot of teams on opening week, just look sloppy as hell and others completely dominate lesser opponents- like you , I cant wait either.
A lot of the early games are out of conference matchups and other than the Bowl games, its one of the only times we get to see these teams from other conferences against our regular opponents.

Just tried to post in the "Mountain WAC" thread
    got a disqus error.

notice: the term "Mountain WAC" is used with the permission of WEA
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
Heck I don't know man, I had the same problem- one of my best as a matter of fact.
Houston is flat-UTEP is in the mountains
Take any team from MWC and put them in Big-12 south- sorry no 10 win seasons for any of them 6-6 would be phenominal, 4-8 more realistic
  • Cougar_Fan · 1 year ago
TCU's record against the Big 12 would beg to differ with that statement. 2004 Utah would have challenged Texas for the title (compare both teams game against Texas A&M that year). Don't get me wrong the Big 12 south is ridiculously competitive, but give BYU Utah and TCU a few years of BCS money and they would probably be better than you think.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
Actually, Utah, arguably, would have given Oklahoma a run for their money in 2004.

That argument has been beat to death. It does not need to be reopened.
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
I don't think anyone on here has argued that Utah wouldn't have gave OU a run for their money, that point hasn't been beat to death, the point that keeps coming up is that Utah didn't get the chance to play OU.....I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
TCU in a typical year: 4-4 in conference, 3-1 non conference. 7-5. They could get 9-3 in a good year. With the improved recruiting they could increase that over time.

This is a typical of my predictions when a top non-BCS team is put in a BCS conference.

Does anyone remember the last time it happened? Louisville won the Big East their first year.
  • grcunning · 1 year ago
Penn State was 10-2 their first year in the Big Ten
OSU and Wisc were 10-1-1, so PSU ended up third, but 10 wins in the first season wasn't too bad.
  • Zac · 1 year ago
Actually, Ben, WVU won the Big East in Louisville's 1st year (2005). WVU went on to play GA in the Sugar Bowl, while Louisville played VA Tech in the Gator Bowl. It was the following year that was reversed; i.e. Louisville played Wake in the Orange, WVU played GA Tech in the Gator.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
    Thank you for the correction.
  • grcunning · 1 year ago
You can''t expect 10 win results right away. It's just not going to happen.
Let's say you put the Utes in the Big12 South. Kids that wouldn't even consider going to Utah will now look at them differently.
Whittingham will have so much more ammunition to use on the recruiting trail, being in an elite conference.
I'd say 3 to 4 years before they will be considered a contender (by that I mean a 9 or 10 win season). As far as a big12 championship, I don't think so...It takes more than some talented kids to go that far.
  • grcunning · 1 year ago
thinking about it again, 10 wins in the Big 12 is a tall order.
    maybe not.
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
    Okay Plug it in
    Utes vs Oklahoma
    Utes vs Colo
    Utes vs Texas
    Utes vs Texas Tech
    Utes vs Missu
    Utes vs Kansas
    Utes vs Ok st
    Ute vs Texas A&M
Now if you somehow get through that like Texas for example you have the CCG game a rematch if you will against Missu,KU, Neb or Colo
very difficult- this aint Wyoming,UNLV, Air force & TCU
This is the conference games you could subsitue Nebraska & KSU, IA St every two years with OCC play they could maybe win 6,7 or 8
  • grcunning · 1 year ago
yeah, that looks pretty ugly. The way it stands now, I can see maybe wins vs Ok st and A&M, the rest of them look pretty tough.
  • Zac · 1 year ago
Tomcat, using your example, based upon this year's projections and last year's results, I would have to say...

OK, UT, TX, Toss-Up, MO, Toss-Up, Toss-Up, Toss-Up (I would favor the home team vs KS.)

So, that's 3 losses up front, the rest of which could go either way.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
    I don't see our disagreement.

I said I would expect a 7-5 season, maybe 9-3 on a good year. how is this a 10 win season?

As for Utah in the Big 12 south:
Oklahoma and Texas are 2 losses.
Texas Tech, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State are close. 1.5 loses.
    Baylor. Come on really?

3.5 loses times 5/6 because you only play 5 of them.

    Divisional games:
    Going by last year's results:
Missouri and Kansas are loses. 2 loses.
Colorado Kansas State and Nebraska are close, 1.5 loses.
    Iowa State. come on really?
3.5 loses, times 3/6 for the number you play.

    Add these together you get:
4.7 loses. Ok fine, 5 conference loses. 3-1 out of conference would give them a 6-6 record. On an average year.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
Note this is 2 games behind the 8-4 Utah posted in the MWC last year.

That 2 game difference corresponds very well with the difference in ranking between teams from these conferences.

Not sure how a 12-0 Big 12 team would get 2 less losses in the MWC. Maybe they have a very large margin of victory each week?
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
Good Post Ben I wrote out on heck of a post on your thread and it got-lost-closed whatever, it was an analogy of comparisons between teams like TCU & BU for example. We really have no disagreement and I'm happy that teams like TCU & Houston have had success recently. I just dont think they would realize the same success in the XII for example, sure given time they would improve in recruiting and be more competitive, but much like Baylor these smaller private insitutions are at a great disadvantage over larger state funded insitutions. Its really hard to compare teams from different conferences except in head to head matchups on the feild.Even though TCU has beaten OU & Texas Tech I dont beleive they would fair very well- week in and week out against those teams. For example a couple of years ago they enjoyed a 11-1 season and their only loss was to SMU- heck even Baylor beat SMU that year.
Even though Baylor & Iowa State are at the bottom of the XII they would do real well in MWC or C-USA because the level of competition would be more on the same level with those programs. Teams like Baylor are better than their
3-9 record indicates because the level of competition is outrages.
I saw the TCU vs BU game last year and both teams looked really sloppy, Patterson did a better job in preperation than BU and BU was breaking in a new QB. I watched the TCU @ UT game and TCU looked alot better and played an outstanding first half, second half was all UT. I watched the UT @BU game in Waco and it was really close 17 to 10 in the fourth quarter BU has it in the red zone about to score and tie it up, kid is pressured in a hurry throws the Int and the UT man returns it the length of the feild TD. BU gets the ball back makes another long drive- boom same thing another int late UT. wins 31-10. I believe that if BU was in C-USA or WAC they would go bowling every year.
Iowa St was # 11 in the B-12 they beat Iowa & Colo not too shabby
When comparing conferences its very difficult to really predict with any certainty that a team from MWC for example would make any splash so to speak, but may be relagated towards the bottom.
    ACC vs XII is interesting
    FSU over Colo
    TTech over UVA
    KU over V Tech
    Miami over Tex A&M
    OU over Miami
I dont think that at this point that the ACC should be taken too lightly IMHO
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 1 year ago
I'm going to say this... and then I'm going to get back on topic for this thread or move my comments elsewhere..... :-)

Two of the biggest differences between BCS conference teams and the top non-BCS teams are quality depth and resources. Most BCS teams third string could hang half-a-hundred on the second string for a non-BCS. And one of the reasons is resources. Not only do the BCS out recruit the non-BCS, but they also have significantly better strength and conditioning programs to train their players.

You start to move that kind of advantage to a week-in, week-out schedule and it becomes a nearly insurmountable advantage. Generally, you are looking at 8-10 years for a significant rise.

I agree thanks- pre season polls are like beauty contest
    USA Today is coaches
    AP sports writers
    Lindy's magazine
    Athlon magazine
    Playboy
    Sports Illustated
    Dave Cambells
    ESPN
    Fox sports
and many more, perhaps only after the season starts will we have any idea as to who is closer with their predictions. I know last year I had one magazine with LSU on the cover guess somebody pegged it. This year I've got one with OU on the cover and one with Texas Tech on the cover- what the heck, in another part of the country its probably UGA .
Looking foward to the upcoming season
  • Zac · 1 year ago
I find it amusing, the consistency surrounding WVU in most polls (8th here, 7th in Play-Boy's), as compared with the inconsistency with the rest of the Big East. For example: The AP ranks S FL at 19th, Pitt at 25th, Cinci at 30th, and Rutgers at 35th. Playboy ranks Cinci 17th, and doesn't even rank Pitt or S FL in the Top-50. Yet they rank Rutgers 29th and UConn 37th (beat Rutgers handily last year; returns more starters than Rutgers this year).

Based upon returning personnel, last year's results, and this year's schedule, Cinci, UConn, & S FL should be ranked arguably in that order. (Though personally, I would rank S FL higher than UConn.) Arguably, all should be ranked in the Top-30. Arguably, Pitt should be 5-1 over the 1st half of their schedule. Only if Pitt at least splits the 2nd half, including a win at ND, could I agree they too should be ranked Top-30.

Pre-season polls have long been the result of people simply not knowing better when it comes to 'perennially good' teams. Personally, I am pleasantly shocked to see Michigan in the 'Others receiving votes' section.

Not that this is their fault, no one knows anything substantive about the 2008 season yet.

Ohio State (sadly) is probably worth their ranking this year - the last 2 years actually were supposed to be rebuilding years to begin with for the Buckeyes; now they have an experienced team.

Alabama is only in the Top 25 because of Saban, IMHO. If they beat Clemson in the first week, I will be happy to eat that, though, Tide fans...

I have no idea why Pittsburgh is #25; none whatsoever...

Two reasons... 1) High profile head coach has been there a few years now and 2) The upset of mighty West Virginia last year is still fresh on people's minds... An alternate view (mine) would be that WVU lost that game by falling flat and it really wouldn't have mattered who was lined up on the other side. Final score was 13-9. Pitt's two field goals were off stalled turnovers and the TD drive was under 50 yards. It's not like Pitt had a particularly stifling D last year. They only held two other opponents under 17 points - Grambling State and Eastern Michigan.

Good points; I just wonder how that the AP voters fall for that and most of us common fans wouldn't.

I mean putting Pitt ahead of...say California, Connecticut, or Boston College? If we're going on what they did last year....

LOL, but let's face it - chaos is why this sport is the best, isn't it?

Everyone whines and moans about Ohio State and they just keep having consistent winning seasons and win the big games (other than BCS the last two years).
And when they did win it was the ref's fault.
    Must all be Miiiiiiichigan fans.

AWESOME!!! Another UGA #1, it'll be fun watching them slide down the polls after losing 4 games this year...

Man it must suck for you Ohio State haters out there.

Yea, it is tough to watch them get thier brains beat out.............

Does anyone realize how under rated and under appreciated Tenn is?
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
    Yes.

They have had some down years and have lost the media focus. For a team with the quality of Tennessee this could give them the freedom to relax and focus on winning the game at hand and not focus on the hype.

I'll vote them most likely to repeat Auburn 2004,

Yeah it must be nice to play in your front yard....
we don't want to mention your last two REAL games YOUR SCHOOL SCHEDULED outside your home state.
    1. hmmm at virginia tech you got wacked in 2002.
    2. and before that you actually have to go back to the reagan administration to see the previous time.
and you lost to the buckeyes in columbus.

congrats on posting your first win against the bucks in three chances and our worst team in the past 4 years.
since we can't hope to see you schedule somebody in the next 4 years... good luck with your toughest non-conference opponents
wait is that troy or a 1-aa team????

It certainly does get old that they never step out of their own yard, doesn't it?
  • CaptBucki · 1 year ago
True... and when they do they get spanked.

Cal probably appreciates Tennessee, and sometimes Vandy.

Based their strong finish last season and the team they're returning this fall, the Bulldogs deserve the preseason top spot. However, with their tough SEC schedule and the slim margin of votes between UGA and Ohio State, it's going to be extremely difficult for Georgia to stay number one all season.

Listen Captain buckeye, do u really know how bad ohio state is made fun of down here in the south??? Me and some of my friends were actually considering picking Mississippi State over Ohio State on a neutral field if they played. Your argument sounds like a desperate attempt to make the SEC look bad and it failed miserably.

Alabama will be the most overrated team in college football for the next 2 years or so. They have some "great" freshman coming in, but freshman aren't going to make a dent in the SEC.
