Fanblogs.com: Auburn Shamelessly Claims That Tuberville 'Resigned'

  • FSU_Ben · 1 year ago
ESPN caught ahold of the rumor about forcing tommy to fire his assistants but they said Auburn denies this. Probably in this boring video. Watching right now.
  • FSU_Ben · 1 year ago
I find it somewhat hard to believe that they are giving him his buyout out of the goodness of thier hearts. Perhaps if they gave him some small portion I would find it more believeable.

Curious though, anyone else heard that Tommy may have severe health issues?
  • GeauxTigers0107 · 1 year ago
It is very strange that they're gonna pay him the 5.1 million buyout just because of what he's done for the program over the last ten years. That could be a first.

Imagine if you walked into your bosses office and told him you were quitting, effective immediately. Then your boss goes, "I respect that and what you've done for the company. I realize you're leaving us in a huge bind but, what the hell, we're still gonna pay you your Christmas bonus anyway."

    Yeah right.

Tuberville has obviously agreed to play along with this ruse, so he's not totally innocent, but I firmly believe that the administration wanted him gone, and they worked it out. I just don't know why they just can't level with people. Wait. I DO know. They don't want to look like @ssholes again, firing him for the second time and succeeding...
  • Tyler_Tech · 1 year ago
Yeah no one is gonna buy that. Here ya go Tubs take 5.1 million just because.......No.
  • Ramblin' Gator · 1 year ago
That's the job I want! One that includes a golden parachute for resigning.
  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 12 months ago
Right they expect anyone to believe that he quit and they paid him his buy out any way ......that is the craziest thing i think Ive heard in a long time
  • Cobia · 1 year ago
Haha yeah this is bullshit PR.
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
    WHAT??????
i can't believe that guy has the stones to tell a bold-faced lie like that.
    are you kidding me??
"well, we just thought paying him the $6 mill was the best way to treat him. it was the least we could do. we just try to treat others the way we would want to be treated."

boy i wish i could've been a reporter in that room. i would've been much less polite:
"hahaha, wait, so you actually are expecting us to believe that you paid him the buyout because you wanted to?"
"ohhhh, so by, 'he no longer wanted to coach,' you actually mean, 'we no longer wanted him to coach'"
    "(cough)bullshit(cough)"
  • Bama_Babe · 1 year ago
Is it just me, or does he crack a smile a few more times than he should...considering he's claiming to have begged Tommy to stay???
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
I want to see him begging for his job now...
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
Technically, he probably is telling the truth....to an extent. By truth in begging him to stay he's probably just giving a skewed perspective on "Hey we would be willing to let ya stay if you fire everyone else. Come on you know you want this job." So technically he DID try to make him stay, although giving a ultimatum that he knew he would never do.
  • TampaGator · 1 year ago
Look---canning Tommy Tuberville after just one bad year, was pretty damn bad...

Lying about it, and spinning it like "he left us", makes it even worse...

...but by far, the most egregious offense in this whole disgraceful mess:

...announcing his termination on Victoria Secret Special night...

...that's just f%$#n ruthless....may as well cut him loose on Christmas eve....

    GO GATORS!!

Outstanding if you can't dazzle them with brilliance baffel them with bullsh-t.
This guy is really talented and should AU run his -ss off, perhaps he could work as President Obama's press secretary.
    Resigned= no buyout
    buyout= fired
stability and build on what Tommie has started- Do What?
new OC, new DC and new HC sorry but that doesnt sound to stable
Tubberville would be a perfect fit at Texas A&M who despretley needs a new HC
  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 12 months ago
Tommy to A&M..... now that is interesting I think he would be a good fit thier as well do they run a spread O
  • Hotty_Toddy · 12 months ago
Auburn needs to backoff looking at Houston Nutt. You're not taking another one from us.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
HT, I'm hearing some grumblings between Nutt and AD Boone down in Oxford. That could open a door if it's true...

But you're right. We don't need to poach another coach from you, even though Texas keeps poaching our DCs...
  • OU_Ron · 12 months ago
Pat Jones, ex Okla State coach was asked about Nutt and Auburn today, his answer was, I can't talk about it right now.......Jones and Nutt are close friends......probably means nothing, but........
  • Hotty_Toddy · 12 months ago
Word out of Oxford says that Nutt said "Thanks, but no thanks."
  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 12 months ago
Do you think Nutt would leave now.... it looks like he could be competeing for the west next year were he is...of course money talk BS walks
  • AUtigerman · 12 months ago
Your not likelty to hear from Tubbs what happened but from sources i have that are pretty close this its the way it went down.
After a few days of negoitiations (primarily fire your staff) he threw his hands up and said im done negotiating. After that Jacobs filled in the rest.
  • Mr2Bits · 12 months ago
I think that the coaching situations at ND and Auburn are just schemes to set themselves up for a government buyout. I thought for sure ND would can Charlie Cheeseburger then petition congress for a bridge loan this year while the iron is hot.
  • Tyler_Tech · 12 months ago
I just cannot see Leach going to the SEC, Maybe when they interview him they will know what i am talking about. They will probably look at each other with bewilderment.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
Harrell was reported as saying to ESPN that he thought Leach was gone. I'm hearing other stuff, too. Wasn't Dread Pirate Leach supposed to ink a new deal today?
  • Tyler_Tech · 12 months ago
Do you honestly believe that Harrell knows anything about Leach staying or leaving. They stuck a mike in his face, and he said what he wanted to because his college career is over after all. I just do not see leach testing the SEC waters. I really do not think Auburn wants to wait another 5 years to be good either. I look for them to look to TCU, Boise State, Ole Miss or somewhere else for coaching help. My gut tells me Ole Miss....
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
No, I don't honestly believe it. He probably knows only slightly better than you and I do...

Leach is the hottest name out there...
  • Tyler_Tech · 12 months ago
Yeah evryone is real nervous around here........
As soon as we saw the Washington ship sail into the sunset, we turned around and the tiger jolly roger dropped anchor tempting Captain Leach with loads of loot and booty........
  • WarEagleFan · 12 months ago
Well I hope that your gut is wrong.... Not that Nutt is a bad coach his a very good coach and a good man very much like Tubbs. But I don't believe that he is the guy who can and will compete with Saban year in and year out. Not that that is the end all to be all but that's where you have to start when you're talking about Auburn. We want to win the SEC and MNC and Nutt just can't seem to get over the hump.
  • OU_Ron · 12 months ago
There is more talk on our local radio talk show about Tuberville, Nutt, and Muschamp, than our upcoming game with Mizzou.....Leach was mentioned, but not as much as Nutt and Muschamp..
  • Tyler_Tech · 12 months ago
If they hire MuschUmp, they will be dissapointed IMO.
  • OU_Ron · 12 months ago
    LMAO
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
This Nutt angle is certainly out of the blue today, but out there nonetheless. I was hearing a lot of Derek Dooley yesterday, but the Leach news has come on hard today.

Leach is the premier name currently and I firmly believe that Auburn would drop a load of cash to get him. Leach would have to run the ball more in the SEC in general and more at Auburn in particular. He would be reunited with former TT QB Chris Todd, which isn't necessarily a deal breaker...

    :-)
  • Tyler_Tech · 12 months ago
  • OU_Ron · 12 months ago
I think there's probably some truth to that, also just reading between the lines, I think something will be happening at Texas, sooner than later with Muschamp....
  • Hotty_Toddy · 12 months ago
According to the AP, Nutt and Boone are working on a contract extension.

  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
Done deal!! Nutt pulled a Rodriguez, on Boone and Ole Miss...

I don't know if you guys laud us for not taking your guy or curse us for running up your payroll...
  • Tyler_Tech · 12 months ago
If Leach leaves, I will be calling for the head of Myers. the guy is out of touch with reality.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
If you guys want my rundown on Auburn coaching rumors check it out right here.
  • Tyler_Tech · 12 months ago
    HERE IS OUR OFFER.......

    http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/

    I think we got him......
unless the tiger pirate booty is huge.....
  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 12 months ago
I don't see leach leaving to come to the SEC...I think he would rather stay At tech making 2.7 than going to Auburn making 3 mil not that the Auburn Job isn't a good one.
  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 12 months ago
How much pressure is there going to be on a new head coach to have a immediate turn around......I'm talking about from Lowder and his clan not the fans.because I see it being several years realistically If the recruiting class crashes this year due to the coaching change.
  • Porcine · 12 months ago
I see Nutt is doing the same old thing It's funny that in so many links Auburn fans are glad they didn't hire him. "Houston Nutt has turned down more jobs that he was never in the running for than any coach I know."- Stewart Mandel 2006.
  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 12 months ago
OK and just so I get it in before tomorrow Bama 27 Florida 20......Bama Shocks the nation Parker has Carrier game
  • fosterkeats · 12 months ago
And some of you thought Alabama handled the Mike Price and/or Mike Shula firings badly???

This takes the cake... and who are they gonna get that will do a better job than Tubbs???

    Patrick Nix???

Turner Gill(yeah, the AU faithful will support a black coach)???

    Derek Dooley???

Someone needs to walk into a Colonial Bank and kick the shit outta that f*ckstick Bobby Lowder...

Someone needs to whack that Yellow Wood Guy Jackoff in the head with a 2x4 of his own Lee County pine...

    And I'm an Alabama guy...
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 11 months ago
I agree with the Lowder part, but what's so bad about Jimmy Rane?
