Fanblogs.com: Big East drops Texas Bowl, C-USA picks it up

  • Football Picks · 1 year ago
Perhaps a discussion for somewhere else but wouldn't the headline stopping after 'Big East Drops Texas Bowl' have been better? Are there too many bowls? Too many lousy games? Personally, I love it and the kids who play in these games love it (most of the time). But at some point isn't there a point of there being too many?

This is not new news. We already knew this from when the new bowls were announced in April. The Big East in the Texas Bowl did not make sense if they were sharing it with CUSA and the MWC and all kinds of other fools anyway.

What happened is the Big East has replaced the Texas Bowl with the new SEC deal in the Papa John Bowl.

The new bowl in Tampa against CUSA replaces the old Papa John deal. So the Big East is in a better position because it no longer shares the Texas Bowl and gets to go to Tampa every year. There is nothing to be complaining about.

Hey Regan How do you know? ever seen a College Football playoff-No you haven't.
So how can you have evidence against something that doesn't exist?
Main topic of thread BE wants out of Bowl in Houston-Okay Adios BE
It was C-USA vs MWC last year anyway.
I love to watch Bowl games, even the so-called lesser bowls
Two teams from different conferences sometimes from different parts of the country, both with winning seasons facing off on neutral ground in front of a T.V. audience-pretty exciting stuff and it could still happen with a playoff senerio too. If playoffs do occur in college football that doesn't neccessarly mean the end of bowl games. That playoff senerio that so many folks dread, would only include the top 16 teams and would not really diminish anything from teams that could still compete in their perspective bowls.
Regan While I respect your opinion, I regret that the playoff sucks statement shows a narrow minded negative attitude towards a possible solution to problem that exist in determining a true college football champion . Tell Tommie Tubberville and the 2004 Auburn Tigers football team that the current system cannot be improved upon and that even if you go undefeated in a BCS conference that you dont have a shot at a title because this is the way it is and we dont want to change and that playoffs suck etc. etc.
Sorry I cant buy that stuff, the current system is broke and it needs fixing.
Take that negative energy and focus upon the positive, if you not part of the solution, then your part of the problem, we can do this and you can help.

Bowls are pointless anyway. We need a playoff!!

    Playoffs suck in College Football.

I have evidence, and will 'go there' as needed.

Okay Guys help me with this one last year it was TCU vs Houston
    MWC vs C-USA right ?
The year before Rutgers Vs KSU
    BE vs B-12
These bowls are fun to watch and give the seniors one more chance to play

This is stupid!!! The Big East has been complaining that none of the better teams will play them during the regular season. So, why does the Big East quit a bowl, in which it potentially could pit one of its teams against a decent Big 12 opponent? This must be fall-out from the Tranghese transition.
