They should schedule more comperable opponents in the future that would give the players something to build on. A couple of early season wins or close contests could build the players confidence levels and help boost team moral. It's a very difficult task to start off the season with several losses and then presuade the team to give it 110% against far superior opponents. A couple of vicories early against anybody would surley help the Blue Devils and their program. Coach David Cuttliff had nothing to do with this lawsuit and he inherits a team with a tradition of losing. Heck we've all seen teams make complete turnarounds and the same thing can happen at Duke.
Example 05 Rice Owls 1-11 Coach Todd Grahmn now with Tulsa Took the Owls from 1-11 to 7-6 which is truley a remakable feat. That year their schedule included games against FSU,UCLA and Texas.
If the Blue Devils could schedule a Div 1-AA opponent early like SHSU with QB Brett Bomar then they would be facing a simular team and if they somehow pull out a win that would help their program, because SHSU is a pretty good team, maybe no Louisville but heck they can probably whip Duke.
They should probably schedule games against MAC and Sunbelt teams like Buffallo and N Texas.
N Texas had one of the worst defenses in Div 1-A last year, but they could probably still whip Duke.

They have to play conference opponents. You cannot get out of those.

That neither means he couldn't be angry over it, nor does it mean he couldn't have had some ability to change the decision making. A case "filed", can be un-filed; that is, if those involved with the reason for the filing in the 1st place are willing to swallow their pride and honor the original agreement. Obviously, that much was too much to ask for.

Not to mention, it still doesn't answer what Duke will do when they play their ACC schedule, many of the games which are against arguably equal-to or better opponents than Louisville.

Don't think Cutcliffe had any say in the matter. Wasn't it before his tenure? The case was filed the middle of last season.

So much for the "university of honor & integrity." I honestly thought this school had class. You know what's really sad? As lousy as Louisville played last year, what with Brohm gone, Duke had a chance. Instead, they weaseled out. Duke, of all universities chose instead to attempt to slither away quietly into the night. The mouse that had an opportunity to roar, actually opted to keep their mouths shut.

If they're too scared to play Louisville, what in the name of Jill St. John are they going to do when it comes time to play Navy, VA, GA Tech, Miami, Vanderbilt, Wake, NC St, Clemson, VA Tech, or NC, forfeit!?!?!?

Dave Cutcliffe should be ripping livid over this. If he and his team is not...I don't know what to think.
