It's just become so cliche' to gloat over another school going on probation, I thought you were better than that...

If it comes out tomorrow that Les Miles paid for hookers & booze for his players, I wouldn't spend my time "stickin" it to another school, I couldn't care less, I care about other things.

I've never seen any figures on how many FBS teams lose money on football. I would guess that it's not many. In the lower divisions, it would be more.

The rule of thumb has always been that basketball pays for itself. Football pays for itself AND everything else.

I apologize for the repetitive info.

I wonder if there is any data on the Div. 1 CFB programs that create the largest financial deficits due to their operation. I know many programs actually lose tons and tons of money each year just keeping the program operating.

We did a thread on that when it came out. The article analyzed programs as if they were businesses, measuring not only revenue, but profitability. Forbes does a similar analysis on 5 major pro sports franchises and assigns a market value. Wish they'd update the one on CFB. Although they are not as profitable as professional sports, there is no doubt that college football is BIG business.

Which makes me wonder why a lot of big name programs continue to let homers and lackeys run the show...

They would like to note that thanks to GM & Chrysler's demise, the cost of Chargers has gone down in Gadsden City, as well as elsewhere across the State of Alabama. So, the margin hit they're taking on that one is somewhat lessened by the incentives & overall depressed pricing in the automotive sector.

I'm sure you will find this interesting for this who want some more raw numbers. A bit outdated but I'm sure the numbers are fairly constant over the years.
