Fanblogs Open Conference Championship Thread
I have a whole Word Doc "Playoffs Suck" Folder....
Let's save it for the Off-Season, when we're bored...please.... :)
There you go again...gratuitously injecting race into the discussion...reading race into comments motivated by IDEOLOGY!
Obama is a politician; he is also president of the United States...comments pro or con about him, are first and foremost, commentary on his IDEOLOGY--NOT his race.
(in this case, his ideas regarding playoff is CFB--how the hell do you read racial commentary into that???)
Please stop making every little comment about Obama into a racial comment--that's you being racist, not someone commenting on his politics, his ideology, or his position on CFB playoffs, being racist.
GO GATORS!!
Your comments about "non AA's" being "so angry since OJ...", then "....we as a Nation still have a long way to go start judging an individual on actions instead of race!..."--in the context of Obama--are patently racist, on their face.
If you don't want me to comment on your comments, don't post so recklessly as to accuse anyone who doesn't agree with Obama, of being racist.
GO GATORS!!
If you insist on bring race, sexuality, or other non-CFB topics into the threads in a way that other people find offensive, then you're going to have to take it elsewhere.
Spurrier isn't as loved as Meyer right now. Does that mean UF is racist? Meyer is a yank, Spurrier, southern; are we now anti-southern, because we "love" our current coach more than the old one?
FWIW: Chris Leak, Emmitt Smith and Brandon Siler, just to name a few, are MUCH more loved than for eg., Rex Grossman; reverse racism??? ...of course not.
That you read racism into a comparison between a current and former QB, again, screams that YOU are incurably racist; your vain efforts to read racial motivation into everything, continue to betry your own racism.
On this cite, no matter how many times you proclaim it, you are neither black, nor white, nor native american...we simply don't care....to us, you're an OU fan (albeit a rather flavorful one).
...just as I am simply a fan of the University of Florida (perhaps, similarly flavored).
Let it go, Lennie.
GO GATORS!!
I am, however, an Economics grad, and have a lot of trepidation that I hope turns out to be unwarranted...
The MWC does not have a tiebreaker. They split the title, even if two teams are tied head to head and the Vegas bowl has the choice of the teams tied for 1st.
The WAC uses head to head and then the bowl selection committee.
Whatever your politics, it's cool to have someone behind the wheel that can play sports other than golf. Did you really think President Bush was a Serious Mountain Biker?
If PE OB' can get a Playoff System in CFB, more power to him...
Bush "captained the Yale baseball team, and as a left-handed first baseman, played in the first two College World Series."
(From "School House to White House: The Education of the Presidents". National Archives (Spring 2007). Retrieved on 2008-03-29.)
I'm not a big fan of baseball, but to me, that's more impressive than a guy that can shoot hoops better than average. However, it is kinda cool that the PE plays sports.
Also, I'm pretty sure that after Tom Brady retires, and based off of the results of this election, he could get elected President fairly easily.
Tom Brady 2020?
If two teams have the same number of losses these tiebreakers favor a team that lost to a worse team over a team that lost to a better team.
Head to head allows the tie to be broken on the field. I do like the Rose Bowl protocol favoring the team that has been gone the longest. Anything else is just kind of sillyness to me. I'd rather they just be tied.
Did I mention I don't like overtime either?
Excellent job with this anaylsis; brilliantly streamlined, and efficient; think I'll book mark it for future reference.
GO GATORS!!
Facts Texas is 3 outa the last 4 against OU and Texas Tech is 2 outa the last 3
Why does OU still get alot of undue credit when these Texas teams keep beating them repeatedly? Ok they finally beat the Frogs bout time, because the Frogs usually beat them too.
I tried to keep on the subject of CFB, without religion, race or politics
Hookem-Horns 4 straight bowl wins
OU 4 straight bowl loses- just the facts
Crimson & Cream True!
Kinda funny that dont you have to go to the CCG game,- to have a chance at winning it?
For Example if OU beats TTech, they would jump Texas and possibly be in the CCG game as the winner in the South facing Missu winner of the North
Given that senerio you would have OU vs Missu two teams that lost to Texas in the CCG
This has happened before and then a 1 loss Texas team who beat Oklahoma & Missu with only 1-loss to a top 5 team would finish as #4 in the B-12
Then Texas could go to Holiday or Alamo just to watch OU get embarrassed again in a BCS bowl, while Texas wins 5 straight bowls and finished the season with 12 wins- 5 games against top 10 opponents-nationally good luck with Cowboys & Raiders we already played those guys and the Tigers as well
Hookem-Horns
One more thing, if Texas could only takes care of business during the regular season, win the south, then the CCG, you wouldn't have to keep posting this crap every year...:-)
Here's a tip for Mack......play a tougher OOC schedule each year and you might not have to worry about being overtaken in the polls !!!
