Wow. I am First. Ric Flair and Obama are the coolest.
  • PrinceMarko · 1 year ago
Ric Flair is a zombie and Obama is going to bankrupt college football.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
How is Obama going to bankrupt this college football sport?
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 1 year ago
Pretty sure he means Obama's support of a playoff.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
Play-offs? Play-offs? Did you say play-offs? Play-offs? Play-offs? I just hope that we can see some more good games! Play-offs! Play-offs! How supporting a play-offs going to bankrupt doggone college football? Play-offs?
  • Regan · 1 year ago
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND HOLY DO NOT GET ME STARTED....

I have a whole Word Doc "Playoffs Suck" Folder....

    Let's save it for the Off-Season, when we're bored...please.... :)
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
Someone get Lennie a new pair of underwear.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
Underwear? Mens getting a another mens underwear? I prefer a womane to get me some!
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
Correction, someone get Lennie a new pair of pantyhoes....
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
The only one on here that wears pantyhoses are Y-O-U!
  • PrinceMarko · 1 year ago
I was just ribbing the first post on here. But I still dont like Obama.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
    He's still the president!
  • Regan · 1 year ago
Not for another blissful 2.5 months...get your inheritance while you still can, everyone...
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
And your firearms. He's not going to ban guns..............just make it so a damn 22 is $1000 and the ammo is $500.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
I haven't seen this many non-Afrtican Americans so angry since O.J. was aquitted for murder!
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
I'm not angry. I'm disappointed. And it's not because he's African-American. I would love to see J.C. Watts or Alan Keyes in that office.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
For the most part I will say 90% of non-African Americans don't care. It's the 10% that are really showing me that we as a Nation still have a long way to go start judging an individual on actions instead of race! Oklahoma is gone be the Big 12 & National Champions. I BELIEVE! I BELIEVE! Do you believe? CRIMSON & CREAM TRUE!
  • TampaGator · 1 year ago
    Lennie:

There you go again...gratuitously injecting race into the discussion...reading race into comments motivated by IDEOLOGY!

Obama is a politician; he is also president of the United States...comments pro or con about him, are first and foremost, commentary on his IDEOLOGY--NOT his race.
(in this case, his ideas regarding playoff is CFB--how the hell do you read racial commentary into that???)

Please stop making every little comment about Obama into a racial comment--that's you being racist, not someone commenting on his politics, his ideology, or his position on CFB playoffs, being racist.

    GO GATORS!!
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
Why don't you mind you own business! I can do what I want! If you don't like it don't read it or respond! I asked a simple question how is he going to bankrupt college football if he puts in a play-off system! It's funny that you did not comment on Prince Marko asking that question! So again if you don't like what I am posting don't respond. I'm suppose to say Yes sa' boss to your demands?
  • TampaGator · 1 year ago
Marko's comment was perhaps a bit inane, but it I didn't find it compelling enough to reply to.

Your comments about "non AA's" being "so angry since OJ...", then "....we as a Nation still have a long way to go start judging an individual on actions instead of race!..."--in the context of Obama--are patently racist, on their face.

If you don't want me to comment on your comments, don't post so recklessly as to accuse anyone who doesn't agree with Obama, of being racist.

    GO GATORS!!
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
The fact that you called me a racist is probably a cover up for your racist's views. It's something I am noticing here in Austin. People of non-African decent are making off the wall comments about the man and he has not even been sworn in yet. I will hit closer to home for you! Who was the quarterback who led Florida to the National Title a couple of years ago? Does he get as much love as Timothy Tebow? Of course not! I wonder why? Now that a college football comment...has not a thing to do with politics!
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
Um no... actually it probably has more to do with the fact that he won the HEISMAN last year and Florida's whoever won that game quarterback from then hasn't done anything to gain attention since. Just give it time, Tebow will be forgotten as well eventually.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
If that is what you want me to believe!
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 1 year ago
Lennie - No more racial comments. No more comparisons about skin color. Nada.

If you insist on bring race, sexuality, or other non-CFB topics into the threads in a way that other people find offensive, then you're going to have to take it elsewhere.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
I just hope this goes across the board! I find it strange when others bring up race...it's okay BUT when I mention it...people get offended!
  • TampaGator · 1 year ago
His name was Chris Leak, and he is very much loved and respected within the Gator Nation. If he's not getting as much love as TT, that would be because he is no longer matriculated at UF, while Tebow is, and, has since brought home a H-man, and continues to lead the CURRENT team towards another potential run for NC .

Spurrier isn't as loved as Meyer right now. Does that mean UF is racist? Meyer is a yank, Spurrier, southern; are we now anti-southern, because we "love" our current coach more than the old one?

FWIW: Chris Leak, Emmitt Smith and Brandon Siler, just to name a few, are MUCH more loved than for eg., Rex Grossman; reverse racism??? ...of course not.

That you read racism into a comparison between a current and former QB, again, screams that YOU are incurably racist; your vain efforts to read racial motivation into everything, continue to betry your own racism.

On this cite, no matter how many times you proclaim it, you are neither black, nor white, nor native american...we simply don't care....to us, you're an OU fan (albeit a rather flavorful one).

...just as I am simply a fan of the University of Florida (perhaps, similarly flavored).

    Let it go, Lennie.

    GO GATORS!!
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
If that is what you want me to believe! You don't respond to me and I won't respond to you! Now you are dismissed!
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
    Very well said, TG.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
    Ewwww!
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
Lennie, I will agree with that. But to say that you ahve to admit racism isn't always simply a negative viewing as give by the fact that someone can be racist in the fact they sway their opinion FOR someone simply because of race. I would venture to say that for the amount of people who choose to not-vote for him due to race, there is an equal (if not higher) amount of people who did vote for him because of his race. I don't know why nobody every admits to this. Even several of my coworkers who ARE african-american admitted that the thing they hated most was the people who voted for him really knowing nothing about him other than he was black and chanting "change!" like Randy on southpark.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
    I chose not to vote!
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
Yes, Lennie, I BELIEVE! As to the other part, I think it is a small part of the population, and I don't like it either, and we should continue to fight it. But I know what day racism will disappear from the earth, the same day people stop cheating on their spouses, getting drunk and acting like and idiot, etc...., the day Jesus comes back!! (He'll be wearing a Sooner sweatshirt of course:)
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
Did you get an e-mail to discuss only college football?
  • Regan · 1 year ago
I'm not angry at all; I hope the guy works out tremendously.

I am, however, an Economics grad, and have a lot of trepidation that I hope turns out to be unwarranted...
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
Did you get an e-mail to discuss only football? Probably not!
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
    Or course not, I'm white:)
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
I wonder if he will e-mail on that remark?
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
Lennie, I'm sure you do, but just in case, you do know I'm kidding right?
  • Regan · 1 year ago
PrinceMarko, we have to stop agreeing on stuff...
  • MarkS · 1 year ago
Pretty please, add the poor relation conferences like MWC, WAC, etc.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
The MAC and C-USA use head to head in a divisional structure to seed the conference championship game.

The MWC does not have a tiebreaker. They split the title, even if two teams are tied head to head and the Vegas bowl has the choice of the teams tied for 1st.

The WAC uses head to head and then the bowl selection committee.
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
Yay. A president that's COOL. I know that's what I look for in a president.
  • Regan · 1 year ago
Big words for someone who doesn't let others have fun, NML... :)
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
Well apparently the hunted has become...the hunter!

  • Regan · 1 year ago
Geez, Ben..,.talk about helpful statistics...you are on fire this November...
  • USC1801 · 1 year ago
Yeah, Ben, I'm glad you understand all the different scenarios for tie breakers . . . I don't have a Flair for that kind of analysis.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
I don't understand them, I just know where to look to find them...
  • USC1801 · 1 year ago
Well, you still do a good job of presenting the material as though you understand it. I wade into the quagmire of "what ifs" and come back out as quickly as possible. The last line is my saviour: "We are not likely to see a meaningful tie in the BCS standings any time soon." LOL
  • TheMayor · 1 year ago
Who was the last President that could play hoops? I hear President Elect is left handed and can't drive right (seriously, no political pun intended).

Whatever your politics, it's cool to have someone behind the wheel that can play sports other than golf. Did you really think President Bush was a Serious Mountain Biker?

If PE OB' can get a Playoff System in CFB, more power to him...
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
George H W Bush played college baseball, and played it very well.

Bush "captained the Yale baseball team, and as a left-handed first baseman, played in the first two College World Series."
(From "School House to White House: The Education of the Presidents". National Archives (Spring 2007). Retrieved on 2008-03-29.)

I'm not a big fan of baseball, but to me, that's more impressive than a guy that can shoot hoops better than average. However, it is kinda cool that the PE plays sports.

Also, I'm pretty sure that after Tom Brady retires, and based off of the results of this election, he could get elected President fairly easily.

    Tom Brady 2020?
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
The Mayor...the man was elected to take care of the Nation's problems. I don't classify the BCS as a National problem. It need fixing but he should not be concern with that!
  • Regan · 1 year ago
    Second.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
    Someone gone tell!
  • Regan · 1 year ago
    They always do. :)
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
Does anyone else think that clause A is a little backwards? I mean I know that if you have two teams that are tied at one conference loss the one which won the game between the two of them goes on. But think about it, you have one team that probably has one loss to one of the mid to lower teams in the conference and the other who's only loss is to the no. 1/2 team in the conference who do you think is the better team then? I would say the team that only lost to the top team. Obviously this wouldn't work for ties with 2 or more losses in the conference but for one loss it seems to work to me.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
I think A C and F all have this fault:

If two teams have the same number of losses these tiebreakers favor a team that lost to a worse team over a team that lost to a better team.
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
Ya I was just thinking because if it comes down to it and say Cincy wins out and WVU wins out it would be a two way tie between WVU and Cincy. Cincy would get it due to clause A. The only thing is that WVU's only lost would be to tied Cincy which was lost in overtime. While Cincy's lost would be to a UConn team that wooped them 40-16, which is almost the same score WVU put on them (35-13) so based on that wouldn't it seem a little backwards??
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 1 year ago
If you've got two teams, and one beat the other, I don't have an issue with saying that the winner deserves it. That's why many contend that the regular season is already a year-long playoff. You beat that team, you move on.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
I don't make the rules, I just dig into the rules and pull out what I find.

Head to head allows the tie to be broken on the field. I do like the Rose Bowl protocol favoring the team that has been gone the longest. Anything else is just kind of sillyness to me. I'd rather they just be tied.

Did I mention I don't like overtime either?
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
Oklahoma is gone win out and Texas is gone lose to Kansas! Then all this tiebreaker talk will hopefully geaux away like you know who!
  • TampaGator · 1 year ago
    Ben:

Excellent job with this anaylsis; brilliantly streamlined, and efficient; think I'll book mark it for future reference.

    GO GATORS!!
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
I was reading about tiebreakers etc etc, Thanks to Ben ,Kev & TG
Facts Texas is 3 outa the last 4 against OU and Texas Tech is 2 outa the last 3
Why does OU still get alot of undue credit when these Texas teams keep beating them repeatedly? Ok they finally beat the Frogs bout time, because the Frogs usually beat them too.
I tried to keep on the subject of CFB, without religion, race or politics
    Hookem-Horns 4 straight bowl wins
OU 4 straight bowl loses- just the facts
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Could it be because the Texas teams don't seem to be able to win the conference championships, with all due respect, not trying to hurt your feelings ;-)
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
    Great reply and true too!
    Crimson & Cream True!
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
    Hey OU Ron
Kinda funny that dont you have to go to the CCG game,- to have a chance at winning it?
For Example if OU beats TTech, they would jump Texas and possibly be in the CCG game as the winner in the South facing Missu winner of the North
Given that senerio you would have OU vs Missu two teams that lost to Texas in the CCG
This has happened before and then a 1 loss Texas team who beat Oklahoma & Missu with only 1-loss to a top 5 team would finish as #4 in the B-12
Then Texas could go to Holiday or Alamo just to watch OU get embarrassed again in a BCS bowl, while Texas wins 5 straight bowls and finished the season with 12 wins- 5 games against top 10 opponents-nationally good luck with Cowboys & Raiders we already played those guys and the Tigers as well
    Hookem-Horns
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
What are you complaining about TC, if all those " if"s " happen then OU will have played all those teams you just mentioned.......besides I still predict OU to lose at least one of the next two games........Here's another prediction, it won't matter if it's OU--Texas--or Texas Tech in the NC game, they will be playing Florida, and whoever it is, will lose to Florida !!!.....JMO..
One more thing, if Texas could only takes care of business during the regular season, win the south, then the CCG, you wouldn't have to keep posting this crap every year...:-)
Here's a tip for Mack......play a tougher OOC schedule each year and you might not have to worry about being overtaken in the polls !!!
  • 1Tomcat · 4 months ago
Hey Ron I wasn't complaining-just predicting the future- Amazing Kreskin aint got nothing on me-scary stuff
  • OU_Ron · 4 months ago
A little late with your response, don't ya think TC..
  • christopher · 1 year ago
i do believe that you made in error in your statement that the ACC tiebreaker can not go beyond the head to head scenario. i believe that when the rule states between the tied teams within the division it means that if the teams have identical conference records then the team with the better record within their own division be it Coastal or Atlantic, would get the shot to play in the ACC championship game for the right of a BCS bid. It does not have anything to do with tied games since there is overtime, so the list is very much possible beyond the head to head tiebreaker
