Fanblogs.com: Conspiracy theories haunt Auburn fans

Tony Franklin should work for Bill Belichick.

Which signs did they steal? The one where we run the ball from side to side or the one where we throw it for four yards? ....or maybe it was the quarterback keeper sign? No one needs to know our signs to predict our offensive playcalling this year.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Good fodder, but defintely not true:

    1) Tubs would have known right away...

    2) Tubs has more than one good friend in the coaching fraternity besides Richt that would have told him...

    3) Franklin would have known that...

    4) Franklin isn't stupid and knows that he has a family to feed...

    5) Even my mother knew what Auburn's play was going to be, and she was watching Law and Order reruns...
  • blackdawg · 1 year ago
I find that hard to believe as well. I do know that Bear Bryant told Wally Butts after a game in 1954 that his QB, Jimmy Harper was pointing his feet on every down in the direction of the play before he took the snap. We lost 6-0. That was Texas A & M's only win that year. Thanks Bear for sharing that and not telling everybody. If he had been at Alabama, I bet we wouldn't have won a game that year.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
You know, Bear was trying to gain his trust so that they could fix that Alabama-Georgia game in 1962...

    :-)
  • blackdawg · 1 year ago
The Bear planning ahead... You know Butts won a libel suit against "The Saturday Evening Post" publisher for an article where they claimed that the Bama-Georgia game was fixed. Chief Justice Earl Warren awarded Wally $3,060,000 (lowered to $460,000) in damages, not a bad take for a retired coach and athletic director in 1967. The article claimed George Burnett, an Atlanta insurance salesman, (and more than likely a Bobby Dodd disciple) overheard a phone conversation between the Bear and Wally Butts, (back in the day when they had those Mayberry RFD phone systems). "Butts outlined Georgia's offensive plays . . . and told . . . how Georgia planned to defend . . . . Butts mentioned both players and plays by name." I was not around for that season but I doubt the Bear needed help scheming a Johnny Griffith coach team.
  • TampaGator · 1 year ago
Far more telling though...Richt would've told him AFTER the game....not before.

Richt had way too much at stake to let that one out before. Imagine the heat, had UGA lost to AU....

    ....nah...ain't buyin' it.

I'll take #4 for a thousand Alex. It would be coaching suicide and as much bad blood that came out of that situation, even he's not that stupid......

At least I don't think he is.

I agree. I know he couldn't be that stupid, either; and I definitely agree with you ...... wholeheartedly, T.E. T.E., I know he can't be, for sure, for sure. Later .....

These is as crazy as them Auburn women calling the Paul Finebaum show. Window Lickin at it's best.
First of all, Tubbs is smarter than you think.
Second, Auburn's O is as about as realiable as a George Jones concert.
And last, Tell then War Eagle fans to stop making excuses for the inevitabile.
  • Mark · 1 year ago
Let's see, what's the most probably reason that Auburn's offense sucks:

    A) Auburn tried to change offensive philosophies between season
    B) Auburn's personnel don't fit the philosophy it tried to implement between seasons
    C) Auburn fired its OC and changed offensive philosophies mid season
    D) Somebody leaked Auburn's signaling system to the world.

Yeah, it can't possibly be A, B, or C; it must be D.... right...

And some of you wonder why Auburn football is consistently a second tier football school.

If they do beat us on their field, it won't be as bad as you got beat on yours by them...

    Blank-Out, was it?
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
Well i wish they would steal the one where we complete a 4 yard pass on 3rd and 5.
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
Well i started that rumor in an atempt to get Auburn back in the huddle.
I was tired of seeing, false starts, missed blocking assignments, negative yardage plays. And for the first time this year we actually only had a couple of negative yardage pays and 0 false starts.

Well i didnt actually start the rumor but it was brilliant.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Ziemba was good for his token false start last Saturday. That's the only one that I remember...

But speaking of Auburn rumors, there's still noise about some secret deal shipping Tuberville off to Clemson. Even Tony Barnhart has acknowledged it, that's why I give it any credibility at all...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
ya know what the funny thing is?
auburn's offense is so bad that this is believable.

i can't wait to watch alabama pound auburn into the turf for 60 minutes.
and don't even try to tell me "the iron bowl is always close"

    not this year.
Auburn depends on the run- we never get run on.
Auburn has an inexperienced QB - we have a confusing, and disruptive defense with a great secondary. Kodi Burns will have more rushing yards than passing yards in this game. he will also throw a few picks.
Auburn's defense actually does match-up well with our offense. but no way Auburn can keep us from scoring 20 points however we may get them.

    my prediction
    Alabama 27
Auburn 10 - (a meaningless TD after the outcome is already decided)
  • FSU_fan · 1 year ago
Well I wish it wasn't true but you will probably lose to florida after FSU and citadel do.
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
    probably? yeah.
but penn state was probably gonna go undefeated, ole miss was probably gonna lose to florida, and alabama was probably gonna lose to clemson and georgia.

    doesn't mean it will happen.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
Bleed Crimson -- "we never get run on."

    Charles Scott 92 yards
    Keiland Williams 88 yards

    LSU total - 200 yards +

    Brillilant analysis...

It's sad when you've been here as long as you have, and Bama_Babe's spectacularly more knowledgeable and objective...

i was referring to the fact that we have the SEC's #1 rush defense.

Name me one thing other than lies and hyperbole you've brought here to discredit that statement...

You've said that LSU fans shot an Auburn fan...No retraction on your part.

You've said that all LSU players and MSU players past and present will say he's touched their lives in a positive way...I showed you the truth, and no retraction on your part.

You've said that your backup's as polished physically and has a skillset comparable and equal to JPW right now...and I laughed out loud, and pointed out multiple issues with that assessment...and nothing on your end again...

You said "nobody runs on" Alabama, yet multiple teams have done just that...and a mealey mouthed "our stats say we're #1"...

(Hey, BC...The next time you use that excuse for being wrong, ask Bob Stoops how much good pointing out to Lynn Swann angrily that his Sooner's had the #1 ranked defense in the halftime interview did against LSU in the BCS Championship Game in 2004.)

You bring NOTHING to the table but empty-headed rhetoric and delusions of gradeur...You've never been there before, as evidenced by your age, and you act the part, here...

You are constantly owned both from a knowledge and a critical thinking aspect, and you continually act as if you aren't...

Your takes are all completely contrived and devoid of all fact and reason...You're the drunk guy with halitosis in the room that thinks EVERYONE wants to hear what they have to say, and can't figure out why everyone keeps excusing themselves from the conversation...Blissfully ignorant...

I've used this here before...on you, as a matter of fact, but the old schoolyard adage does hold true: "You think you're hot snot on a silver platter...but you're just a cold booger on a paper plate."
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
    you misspelled the word "grandeur"......

but besides that, GREAT POST MAN!!
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
    Exactly what I thought...

What's it like, realizing that about 15-20 thousand people a day watch you get owned in the comments section here?

What a great example you're setting...
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
But the biggest rumor i'm hearing--and TE can back me up on this, because it was first picked by by some LSU sites--is that Alabama will basically...Okay, I don't want to say throw the Iron Bowl but they're not going to win it. The quid pro quo for it will be that Tubs will voluntarily leave Auburn, going where, I don't know for certain. That way Saban will have the state clear for recruiting against any new coach coming to the Plains, probably guaranteeing the Tide of at least a two-game winning streak against us...

See? Two can play at this game...
