Fanblogs.com: Did losing to Arky St cost the Aggies the title?

  • BigWarEagle · 1 year ago
These dimwits actually own computers and can type and everything?
  • Kodi4Heisman · 1 year ago
    First!

I don't know what anybody else thinks, but Texas A&M's chances for a national championship are still very real...
  • Zac · 1 year ago
I would agree, had every BCS team playing a FCS team this past weekend had also lost as A&M had. Since that didn't happen, I'd say the only thing A&M has to look forward to is a chance at the Big-12 Championship. Sadly, that ain't happening either. Remember, you heard it here 1st.

I don't know if this post was in jest or not, but... (if not) it just simply reeks of rose-colored homerism.
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Only if they don't lose to Baylor
  • AgRyan04 · 1 year ago
I'm sure that you guys don't frequent TexAgs very often but a very large portion of the threads are just people trying to stir up other people. When someone gets one going that someone else bites on everyone jumps in and continues to lead them on.

Regardless, it was a crappy weekend.

    Barnacle Scraper?
Maybe he's got the bends or something, it's affecting his brain.
  • Regan · 1 year ago
It is statistically possible that Texas A&M could win out, and every other team could go 6-6.

    Statistically possible...

Fan enthusiasm is what makes the sport great...
  • Zac · 1 year ago
Hey, as keraaaazy as last season was, ya reeeely never know. I'm just doubt'n it, is all.
  • Regan · 1 year ago
You are not alone on the doubting boat, my friend...

I just think crazy fans are a huge plus in this sport. :)
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Yes, Iron Sheik, and there still is a Santa Claus, too...
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
    Um, yes. Yes it did.

I cannot wait to see just "how good Arky State actually is."
  • Ramblin' Gator · 1 year ago
It's a hot day in College Station and lots of fans are drinking the koolaid.
  • CaneResurrection · 1 year ago
T A&M has about as good a chance at the N.C. as we do.
  • Zac · 1 year ago
Well, at least I've seen Miami start as they did Saturday, and get there, and win it. I don't recall any team starting as TX A&M did and get there, let alone win it.
  • WB · 1 year ago
Almost every team in a major conference has a message board with a thread about their chances for a national championship. I'm a South Carolina Gamecock fan, and there are several of these threads on one of our message boards every year. I think it's ridiculous.

We even get these stupid threads about "I hope we play Southern Cal in the national championship game, so we can show the who the REAL USC is..."

    Ridiculous.
  • GeauxTigers0107 · 1 year ago
"Anybody" -- CAN-- win it but for some, reality takes a little longer to set in than others. I agree with Regan...fan enthusiasm is what makes this sport so good.

And maybe Arky St is that good.....lol.

    Never count the AGGIES out
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Do you still think the Aggs win the South ????
  • mcgrawtl · 1 year ago
I don't think so this year. But wait for 2009. Mike Sherman made Green Bay what it was and I think he can do it for A&M
  • Porcine · 1 year ago
Him and some guy named Favre.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Of course, never count them in, either...
  • mcgrawtl · 1 year ago
You need to worry about Bama
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
You need to worry about your fellow fans exhibited above...
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
When they lose to New Mexico they will be out.
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
You must have a kicking game to be successful. I'll bet the Aggies will be trying out every walk on this week in search of someone who can hit a 25 yarder? Did I say that ?
Poor Aggies- sorry guys we have H/S freshman that can hit those consistantly.
They might beat New Mexico and maybe Miami, but they will lose to Texas Tech, Texas and Baylor- OU will be a tossup
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
TC, you're consistent if nothing else....LOL, so you think Texas losing to the Aggs two in a row is enough....
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
Hey Ron Thought our good buddy would jump on that stink bait LOL
I can remember UT losing back to back against the Aggies , three in a row- not gonna happen. Watch this Ron and see what happens
    Texas A&M will beat Oklahoma
BTW I also picked Cinn Bearcats, Texas Tech Red Raiders & TCU Frogs to whip OU
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
Don't know about all that, but I know if New Mexico beats A&M convincingly the TCU Oklahoma game looks a lot more interesting.
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
ATM back on trac for the title, since New Mexico lost to the Aggs, does it make the TCU game less interesting ??
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
OU Ron so now that TCU and A&M have both beat a mighty MWC team does this mean that OU has a chance a victory ?
LOL Right now C-USA looks like the BCS busters to me
    ECU #1 all the way
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Just a slim chance TC, but I bet Stoops will do his best, the MWC looks to be pretty tough to me by the way BYU stomped a mudhole in Washington with that 1 point victory..............BTW, we play Washington on Saturday, I can only hope the Pac 10 has replaced some of those seeing eye dogs....
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
Boy you aint just a whuffin Ron- Im laughing now
worst officiating in the nation-no doubt
The Wash St vs Baylor game looks good, the game is at Waco, so do they have neutral refs? hope so
OU will probably slaughter the Huskies despite the obvious disadvantage that the Sooners have against the mighty Huskies- home field, Pac-10 refs and superior coaching staff-Tyrone & Co
Oklahoma the best Texas team north of the Red
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Yea TC, usually the best team south of the Red to the Gulf also.....Good luck with the Hogs on Saturday, it won't take much to get a Texas team up for that game...
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
Yes. If New Mexico would have one it would have made TCU look better. The loss lowers TCU's opponents strength.

I mean TCU beat New Mexico but they lost to Texas A&M who lost to Arkansas State.

It is much harder to say that TCU should be competitive.
  • Big B · 1 year ago
No more out of the picture than Michigan after their loss to Utah. Afterall, that loss to App State sure seemed to work out well for them last year.
  • Porcine · 1 year ago
Congrats to Ben Owens, national defensive player of the week.
  • Tommy_Trojan · 1 year ago
Porcine nailed it. Unless they got somebody on the squad who can do what Brett Favre does - then Sherman has no chance. The pros are a whole different game. If they draft a QB or RB (like Alexander) then you could make a whole career out of it. Down here at the lowly college level - you actually have to recruit your own players. Which means: the coaching staffs have to do all of the evaluations by themselves. There is no "war room" to offer any assistance in this matter. This is the one area that separates the men from the boyz. This is the one reason that Nick Saban has been able to get back ahold of the capability to dominate. Two completely different games.

How is the BBQ at Rudy's?
  • Jim · 1 year ago
Rudy's isn't bad for a chain. The one in CS is one of the better one's I've been to
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
Real BBQ is cooked all night on oak wood. you have to go to the back to get your meat. Its served on butcher paper no plates, get you crackers, bread, Jalapenos and Onions while your back there. The brisket is juicy and tender, no knives needed, you can pull it apart with your fingers. Luling City Market- Luling Texas or Smitty's-Lockhart Texas
  • gatorhippy · 1 year ago
    So true, TC...

A common misconception is that it's the sauce that makes "BBQ"...

It is in fact the method of cooking...
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Agreed. The BBQ sauce is what makes the heartburn...

At least for me. The sweeter ones do, now that I'm older...

Commercially available sauces that stand out:

    1) Dreamland BBQ sauce--those guys near Tuscaloosa know how to do it--best served heated--not room temperature. Luckily, there are now Dreamland restaurant franchises in Atlanta. I drive 15 miles to the one closest to me...

    2) Maurice's Carolina Gold--a mustard based sauce. I only like it on chicken, but it is good! Getting hard to find since old Maurice decided to stamp a Confederate flag on the bottom of every label.

    3) Stubbs--some guy out of Texas. Not too sweet and not too spicy. Decided to try it a few years ago since it was still being sold in a bottle. I still like my beer AND BBQ sauce in bottles, please! (but not mixed together)
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
WEA Stubbs is in Austin, they also have Live outdoor concerts.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Yea, I knew it was a restaurant chain, or a small group of them.

Now I think I'll go have BBQ for lunch...
  • ridelights · 1 year ago
This is the most ridiculous conversation I have ever seen. The Aggies were never even in the top 100 much less near a national championship. As I look down the A&M schedule, I see at most 4 wins for a 4-8 season.

    What am I missing?
  • Badgerbob · 1 year ago
Can anyone get Coach Frans telephone number?? The only thing dumber than getting rid of him, was Coach Sherman not retaining his assitant coaches.
