Upset of the weekend......Colorado beats Texas! After the game William "Whack" Brown complains, Ralphie gets loose and she stampedes his whining behind! Colorado 42 Texas 16!
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
I kinda hope saxeT wins. The only thing more fun than beating saxeT is beating them when they have lofty aspirations
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
It does not matter1 if Texas wins then Oklahoma will beat them while they are a Top 5 team and it will be even better although Texas has not beat a quality opponent, YET!

Rice vs Tulsa ought to be a good one
Could Tulsa be the team that breaks through to a BSC game-perhaps they should be ranked
This thing is going to be high scoring game maybe 100 points total
After BU beats OU this looks like a game to watch

That is the longest list of top 25 games I have ever seen.

    7 unbeatens will lose.

    Upsets:

    Michigan over Illinois
    Wisconsin over Ohio State
    North Carolina over Connecticut
  • Regan · 1 year ago
Yeah, I just went down the line. I try to stay above 75% accuracy in order to justify being too chicken to predict margins.

I have absolutely no decent knowledge regarding Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green, etc...
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
The non BCS conferences have a lot more room to gain a knowledge advantage over the average better. While the top 25 get continuous coverage and everything about them is known to all, the smaller schools are ignored and a little knowledge can go a long way.
  • Regan · 1 year ago
The only time I will ever bet money on anything in CFB, the bet is always the same thing:

One Dollar and a Fist-Full of Pride.

    Nothing more, nothing less. :)
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
I might go up to the price of a beer, maybe even the cost of an appetizer.

I am more than willing to bet less.
  • Regan · 1 year ago
I gotcha. I guess I consider Beer and money two different things.

I came up with the $1 idea when I saw "Trading Places" and cringed at the idea of having to wear the colors of the other team if a friend's team beats one of my teams....*shivers*....
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
As far as your upsets go...in the first two, I personally think they're toss-up games, so I don't believe there will be any true upsets. In the third, I think NC is definitely playing better than UConn, so I agree with you there.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
Ok, I'll admit I didn't go to far out on the limb.

Now to name the 7 of the 18 unbeatens that go down this week would be tough, well South Florida is one. Kentucky and Alabama will be another. Utah, BYU, Boise State, Northwestern and LSU have won already or have the week off.

This leaves 5 of the following 10 teams:

    In order of vulnerability, IMO:
    Connecticut @ North Carolina
    Auburn @ Vanderbilt

    Ball State @ Toledo
    Texas A&M @ Oklahoma State
    Texas Tech @ Kansas State

    Rice @ Tulsa
    Penn State @ Purdue
    Texas @ Colorado
    Missouri @ Nebraska
    Oklahoma @ Baylor

  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
I stumbled on a Michigan streak of 9 shut outs in a row from 1930-1931...

Alabama had a streak of 4 in 66 and another of 5 in 61.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 1 year ago
Plenty of teams have eclipsed the three game shutout. Albion won 10 straight while not giving up a point from 1903-1905. :)

Two hilarious signs seen on College Gameday at Vanderbilt:

KURT, YOU'RE NOT IN MY TOP 25 EITHER!

    and

GET A DEGREE FROM (insert AU logo) AND A (insert Vandy logo) GRAD MIGHT HIRE YOU!

That sh-t is funny as hell, especially the last one. Of course, all you have to do is insert whateve logo's you want to make it your own.

Today, I'm pulling for Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Piss, Nebraska and Florida St. Hope everyone's teams do well today. I put a pork shoulder on the smoker at 9am and it won't come off until 5pm. Additionally, and to accompany the shoulder, will be a rack of St Louis cut pork ribs and two chickens. Of course, they were all seasoned/injected last night. The ribs and chicken will hit the pit at about 2pm and finish about the time the shoulder will. Anybody hungry??? LOL Come on down to Thibodaux.

    2008 gameday games:
    Alabama 2-0
    Auburn 0-2

    love it!

    FSU is looking solid.

Arizona State does look like they are NOT a good team, Tommy.

Utah had a nice win, and with Michigan doing so much better, it only helps the Utes even more.

WVU squeaked by Rutgers and it seems more so that neither one of those teams are very good.

Penn State looked pretty good handling Purdue. In my mind, they are the team to beat in the Big Televen, but we'll have to wait and see how the Ohio State/Wisconsin game plays out.

Kansas is definitely overrated. It's time for them to drop quite a few spots.

Last but not least, Appalachian State is blowing out the Citadel. GO APPS!!!

  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 1 year ago
You've got to be kidding right considering Clemson lost to auburn then alabama in consecutive games.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
The only problem with this is that the teams that make the SEC teams look bad are only SEC teams.

Unless you are talking about Tennessee. Tennessee is really really bad this year.
  • Hotty_Toddy · 1 year ago
Its funny how they are so venomous and quick to pounce on the SEC :)

It must mean something, deep underneath all that bile and hate.
  • clemson1981 · 1 year ago
Nobody is jumping on the SEC.....the point is maybe the SEC isnt nearly as good (or the SEC west at least) as we all thought. I mean if you think about it coming into the season before a single game was played we called the SEC the most dominate conference in America based on 5 teams (Georgia, Florida, Auburn, UT and LSU) thats it. A 12 team conference and we praise them like no other for 5 teams (Im not saying the SEC sucks or anything im just saying maybe we all should rethink this whole SEC dominance thing.) If we are basing the dominance off of National Championships then the Big 12 and the Pac-10 are the most dominating conferences having won 4 out of the 10 season's the BCS has been around or you could say the Big East was when Miami was still there. So if we all base conference domination off of the National Championship let's be real and name the Big 12 or Pac-10 the kings.
  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 1 year ago
Im sorry but i do belive that the sec has 4 and the pac ten has 1 big twelve has 2. Now if your trying to combine the big 12 and the pac ten into one super conference then together they have 3.
  • Hotty_Toddy · 1 year ago
Most of the pre-season crap is just for "quarterbacks" sitting on their coaches at home drinking a beer and using their bellies as coasters, anyway. Its like most things, don't believe it until you see it. I'll agree with you on that point.
  • Porcine · 1 year ago
    That's some big coaches.
  • Hotty_Toddy · 1 year ago
But just because power swings inside of the SEC doesn't give way for people to come out the woodshed and start painting the town.

It simply means what is shown -- the other teams are getting power and the more "set in stone" (at least in the minds of the media and most of the sportscenter guys) teams are.... for lack of better adjectives, not so good. (Ex. Tennessee, Auburn)
  • blackdawg · 1 year ago
I'm glad we have an off week, ( I mean week off)...no pressure. It all starts up again next week, though.
  • clemson1981 · 1 year ago
I defiantly think the pre-season stuff is a load of bull as well but most people don't and it's what causes us all to fall into what the analyst say. I like to think of the SEC as the BIG 5 (AU,LSU, UF, UGA, UT) but thats changing.......fast! Soon the SEC West will easily be the single most dominate division in all of football. With Petrino building up Arkansas in a few years, Nutt at Ole Miss thats just going to be great, LSU is LSU, Auburn is Auburn, Miss St. will get better and Bama will be back, if not already. The East better look out! haha
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
North Carolina and Georgia Tech deserve some serious looks for the top 25 at this point.
  • Regan · 1 year ago
UNC has got to be in after beating ranked Connecticut (the last Big East unbeaten) so thoroughly.

GT only had 10 votes in the last AP Poll, and beating an improved Duke so badly might not make as much as a splash, but given a loss by Fresno State, they might get in.
  • Hotty_Toddy · 1 year ago
I now officially proclaim Ole Miss in another rebuilding year which is perfectly legit. QB is a sophomore and still learning. Not saying we won't still surprise some people, but this ain't "the year" yet.

And I definately am disgusted with Jevan Snead's play ever since the Wake Forest game. That late interception with us on a drive to send it to overtime made everyone in the stadium go $^#!^!#$$@#$@#^$#%#

I have season tickets, I know, I was there.

Evidently Bellotti thinks he can win the game by punting...when you're down by 17,20 and then 27 points, why punt on 4th and one, 4th and inches and even 4th and 27? Very disappointed in our coaching.

No doubt one of the toughest leagues this year and nobody can really argue any differently until after the bowl games, these teams are legit. They are all real strong teams and they are going to beat each other up, next weeks RRS game is huge, ought to be a good one.

    1) Oklahoma
    2) Louisiana State
    3) Missouri
    4) Texas
    5) Alabama

I wonder will the pollsters show Alabama love and keep 'em #2. They should drop and Texas, you know I don't like 'em, should move up.

Have any of you guys ever truly earned your hangover? Sorry for posting and running away to party, NOT! Didn't mean to be an Ahole Toddy, just kind of fell into it.
We went to Oxford and beat a strong team, and our former defensive coordinator, not to mention Nutt. Chris Smelley QB'ed and took a step to the next level, 327 passing. We developed a receiving corp in this game, much love to them all. A new name here, Jason Barnes.
The defense gave up too much ground, especially early, but they got real. An offense showed up and pulled it's own weight. I don't care too much what our record is at the moment. What matters more to me, is that there is not one damn team in the whole nation, that will take Mr. Spurrier's team lightly.

Contrary to what some of you might believe, I'm not as disappointed with our loss to Vandy as I am in my performance in the pick 'em contest. A miserable 5 out of 16! Okay, I'm not laying 20+ points to anybody any more! Congrats, OU-Ron, for ascending to the top of the heap in that fracas...

but the weeks ive picked, ive only had one losing weekend. so not bad.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Because I suck, that's why!!! :-) Very few teams are covering these large spreads--that and I keep think Auburn is going to start firing on their second bank of cylinders and cover these puny lines, which they haven't. Naturally, I had some doubt, but I just can't convince myself that we couldn't cover a 4 point spread...

It helps you guys that we lost another one. That essentially removes us from contention in the west, barring a miracle. Good game for Vandy. I like a good underdog, so I'll root for them the rest of the way. It would be a miracle if they ended up in Atlanta, but you never know. They could win one of two against FL and GA and possibly get in...

I am not suprised about Vandy. They have been giving the SEC fits for a few years now. They weren't winning but they were competetive. They have been winning the close ones and that has what has made the difference.
The odds of them making it through Miss St, GA, FLA, TN without 2 losses is pretty slim.

    GO DAWGS!
  • Hotty_Toddy · 1 year ago
I think for them, Ms. St. is a win, Georgia is gonna punch them in the mouth as well as Florida, and then Tennessee will get rolled by them.
