Two turnovers in the red zone kept the scoring down. Two other turnovers gave USM field position in some unlikely locations. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been that close. I didn't think we would cover, but for the wrong reasons, (as it turned out...)

Evidently, USM has quite the high powered offense, so our defense did quite a job...

WEA, your boys let me down this weekend, as I'm sure they did you too. I knew the Golden Eagles were a quality team but your boys were home so I took 'em...oh well.

Didn't get to watch the game so I don't know what the deal was. We're still electrically challenged...lol. At least they won. Good for the SEC. Ole Piss covered for me though. The one that hurt the most was Central Florica. I picked 'em then went back and changed it to South Florida....like a dumb azz.

Are you sharing your picks in the contest, TC? Are you even in it? I didn't see 'Tomcat' in there. I guess it was too complicated for most of us to just use the same old moniker that we use to post...

I'm tied at 15th. It could be worse though--I could be Zac!!!!

At least I'm ahead of the War Eagle Birmingham guy. As president of the franchising system, I have to set a solid example.

In case anyone's interested, we still have War Eagle El Paso and War Eagle Miami/Dade available...

Heck BC I stunk it up too thought I picked ECU apperantly not-guessed I rushed through with my picks, the spread killed me this past week.
What happened to these so-called favorites-teams who won but couldnt cover the spread
I lost with
BYU, Auburn, Ohio St and Utah
When it comes to picking winners- no problem, but trying to pick underdogs to at least loose by less than the spread-I got killed again
Miami Hurricanes didnt see the game I was watching the USF vs UCF
KU vs La Tech- these the same bulldogs that beat Croom's Bulldogs-they got Manginoed
Cinn Bearcats pride of the Big East first half purty good what happened, did yall lay down
Az St vs Stanford These guys are up & down- hot & cold- thought Stanford woulda done better
Ya I can pick winners purty good but the spread is killin me BTW
Congrats to the Arkansas Razorbacks yall beat a good team

i wasnt trying to take a cheap shot at WVU.
Noel Devine is one of my favorite players, but nobody can argue that WVU was vastly over-rated.
I think Alabama is ranked right on the money.
after week one i thought we were a shoo-in to win the west, but after week two i have a different outlook:
1. LSU
T2. Alabama
T2. Auburn
4. Ole Miss
5. Mississippi State
6. Arkansas

although, i haven't changed the bottom 3 since preseason.

I lost on UCG thought they coulda scored more, same with the Cinn vs OU game.
Congrats to Vanderbilt over USC and Rice over Memphis
The USF vs UCF was really a tossup, and nobody including myself a few years ago woulda given this game much consideration and now its bigger than UF vs UCG

agreed. As much as i would like to say that entire game was because of officiating and WVU not showing up to play (which both of those were there) East Carolina showed up to play. Their players were spirited, fired up from begining to end, WVU was not. I don't know if they were thinking back to last years' wooping of East Carolina or what but there just didn't seem to be any emotion in WVU's players next to maybe White and a select others (till the lead became rediculous that is).

The only good news that I took from that game were the holding calls against ECU. There weren't as many as were called against OK when WVU played them in the Fiesta Bowl, but there were still too many, if you're Skip Holtz. Basically, that did indicate, ECU had some trouble with WVU's speed on defense. To their credit, most of the time, they had no trouble making up for the mistake on the following play.

Which brings me back to what I've said before. If the Big East doesn't offer ECU an invite, there's something rotten in Denmark.

And well you should. I'm here to tell ya; your boyz put on a show against a decent team. Cinci is more than a step above either Miami (the other one) or OH U, and neither MI nor OSU AT HOME could distinguish themselves well against either team. In fact, both Miami & OH U were their own worst enemy, more so than their respective foes. Clearly, like WVU, MI still has a lot of work. OSU, they were looking ahead, which is never a good idea, especially at home in front of their fans.

Zac, JMHO but...

I believe the x-factor in WVU's success the past three seasons has been Schmitt...

He made White and Slaton look good with his blocking and his ability to collapse the defense on the full back in the triple option which opened up the perimeter for White and Slaton...

And if the defense didn't collapse on him, Owen made them pay as he was a home threat...

Again JMHO but it certainly seems like they're missing that quality at FB badly...
