2. Repeat as conference champs
3. OU win a BCS Bowl
4. OU win a BCS Bowl
5. Beat Texas, again and again and again
Y'all please be good to one another. Nothin' but love for the college football brethren.
1. Would like to see the offense gel towards the middle of the season.
2. Would like to see the defense take charge and win some close games.
3. Would like to see a 10-2 record(or better)
4. Would like to see how the team overall adapts to Rich Rod's fast tempo of play.
5. Of course.... Would like to see the Wolverines march into the Horseshoe and knock OSU out of title contention. I dislike those red-neck, low-life, wannabe champion pieces of crap fall on their face every year.
2.Utah beats Michigan
3. BYU and Utah play for a BCS bowl birth
4. Texas Tech wins Big 12 south
5. Cal accepts me for law school!
It's good to see another MWC fan around here, I expect BYU to build quite a bandwagon as the season progresses. BYU has a chance to do something special this year.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see BYU win all their non conference games to lose all their MWC games. And I expect the feeling is mutual.
#4 might not be to popular around here. Just saying, I'm staying out of this one.
and yes, the bandwagon I'm sure will get going if the cougs don't muff it at the beginning of the season, but I hope you don't get the idea that I'm one of those! Most certainly not , I eat drink and sleep college football whether BYU's up or down. As far as the Utes go I like them to be as successful as possible leading into the BYU game, that just makes a cougar win that much sweeter (and I must say I am jealous of Utah's OOC record especially against BCS schools (9-3 in the past few seasons, not bad!) I'm thinking that this years game is really going to be exciting, both teams should be ranked and the game could possibly send the winner to the BCS.
The band wagoners won't start until if and when they are 3-0.
Any BYU supporter appearing before then are legit. There was this Utah fan who showed up here before 2004, so who knows.
As for our OOC record, I hope we don't start regularly padding it with games like Weber State. What happened to the days when the MWC broke away from the WAC and committed themselves to tough OOC schedules? This year is an obvious step down in that regard.
I hope they didn't take notes on Hawaii last year. When teams, like Utah and Boise actually play tough OOC games they hold their own. When teams like Hawaii, on a very padded schedule, get there they get blown out of the water. Not to mention BYU, Utah, Fresno State, Boise State, TCU and a few others can get in even with a single loss. Tough schedules make your team better and give your team better odds at getting in.
1) FSU's offense finally start to look like a college offense, rather than bad pee wee league football
2) Mickey Andrews get the defense back to championship level.
3) The Noles learn a killer instinct and stop losing or letting teams back into games in the second half.
4) FSU upsets Florida (especially if it causes UF to be knocked out of contention for something/anything)
5) A January bowl game, preferably a BCS bowl that we have earned/deserve
#1) Ohio State Lose game 1
#2) Notre Dame loose game 1
#3) Ohio State loose game 2
#4) Notre Dame loose game 2
#5) Florida loose to Miami
1) a national championship...watch out here come the "overrated" buckeyes with one massive chip on their shoulder...
2) the heismen...beanie4heismen
3) big ten title...we already have this in the bag
4) send michigan and RR packing...if the ducks and app state can beat them...who cant???
5) 200%...they give 200% every year anyhow
oh...and marko...let me remind you of the last 4 years of OSU perfection against michigan...tell RR for me that he might want to get lots of pain killer for him and his "team" to use after we are done with them...good luck
GO BUCKEYES
OUR HONOR DEFEND WE WILL FIGHT TO THE END FOR O-HI-O
Here are 5 things I would sincerely like to see happen by next January.
5. Miracle of miracles, we'll have found a way to elect a decent President out of these atrocious candidates.
4. Gasoline will fall below $3.00 a gallon and stay there for at least 2 years.
3. The business world learns to employ people and treat them fairly as opposed to cutting costs by laying them off. There are other ways to cut costs, such as making better business decisions.
2. FSU goes 9-3; Penn St goes 10-2, and they meet in a bowl for the tie-breaker, after which Bobby Bowden & Jo Pa shake hands for the last time as HC's.
1. Our troops are brought home safe and sound for the last time, that they can spend the holidays with their families then and ever after.
#1 Troops come home safe & sound and spend holidays with their families for ever & ever
#2 Hydrogen cars take over that run on water ending dependence on fossil fuels and helping the environment and world economy. inflation is reversed and the dollar grows rapidly , working families are actually rewarded for their efforts instead of penalized
#3 everybody gets along and world peace is a reality all violence ends
#4 The two-party system of American politics is abolished and everybody has real health care, not just the wealthy and your vote actually counts
#5 The American farmer actually sees a profit feeding the world and no body goes hungry ,starvation ends worldwide
2. SEC champ beat USC for BCS--badly!
3. Petrino go 0-for the season, and get run out of town on a rail;
4. Rich Rod'z go 0-for the season, and get a 10 extension;
5. Illinois/Coach Zook win the Big 10.
GO GATORS!!
and they lose to A&M at J Jones new stadium next year, they fire Petrino or he leaves early and they hire Switzer and continue to lose
2.Miss St make it to the BCS game
3. Rose Bowl will have a non traditional match up
4.Big East have 2 schools in the BCS
5. We will have a split national champion
Remember to let me know when you get back home, I owe you a ticket to the Oklahoma City ????? basketball game......
I can just see the front page of the NY Times: General Poops????
Big 12 is looking much better and i wouldnt be surprised if the big 12 winner makes the NT game this year.
I dont see any SEC team making it as i feel they will all have 2 losses.
My way to early out on a limb pick OU vs USC
Top 5 for WVU
5. Defense works out to be at least 60% as strong as the offense.
4. Pat White breaks the NCAA rushing record for QB's, and still passes for more yards & TD's than last year.
3. Beats Pitt in Pittsburgh, BIGTIME!
2. Finally beats S FL for the 1st time in 3 seasons.
1. Wins at least 11 games & beats VA Tech in the new "Orange Bowl" during an all out ESPN Classic (ratings beat out the NC)
Top 5 for Big East
5. Goes undefeated in non-conference schedule, improving overall win/loss records from last year.
4. Auburn vs. WVU beats previous ESPN viewing/ratings record.
3. Commissioners figure out a way (using my idea) for expansion to at least ten teams by 2010.
2. Pitt lives up to this year's hype.
1. Undefeated in bowls, 4 teams in top 25 (1 in top 10), and the conference FINALLY gets some respect.
Top 5 for the Country
5. Fresno St beats WI.
4. OR St beats OR beats ASU beats USC beats Cal beats AS beats UCLA beats OR St, and the pundits can try and sort it all out.
3. Since Ramblin Gator stole one from me (lets add NE to that list), and Jonathan stole one from me (Weis will celebrate at Wendy's.). lets have Baylor, Duke, NW, & Vanderbilt become bowl eligible.
2. Rodriguez goes 2-10 in his 1st year at MI.
1. The BCS is forced to set up a 1st ever play-off between 11-1 Clemson, 11-GA, 11-1 OK, and 11-1 OSU. I'll let you guys pick the winner.
Clemson would be #4, but he rest is a toss up, with the left out team crying foul.
1) Definitely someone new atop the Pac 10. Getting way too sick of the Trojans...
2) Clemson playing for the NC
3) Texas Tech living up to the hype.... at least making a BCS bowl
4) Pitt winning the Big East and giving the Wannstache something to cheer about
5) and to agree with 4cornerz, MSU winning the SEC (Sly is sick)... if not that, I would love to see Spurrier bring some magic back to SC and get that team into the SEC title game and shake up the east a little bit
2. Arkansas loses to UT and Ole Miss and then the nuttless Hogs fire Petrino and hire Switzer
3. App st moves up to Div1-A after beating LSU
4. Rice goes undefeated and wins the MNC
5. Notre Dame University goes 2-10 and gets a cheesbuger sponser on NBC
1) UT hands Florida a beatdown of epic proportions.
2) UT wins the SECCG and a BCS bowl/ Silences the Fulmer critics.
3) The Dave Clawson offense comes out looking like a well oiled machine on day 1.
4) Eric Berry breaks all kinds of records and gets his name in the mix for the heisman.
5) Arian Foster breaks the UT all time rushing record.
2. Lennie moves to Norman OK and starts rooting for the Longhorns
3. Horned Frogs beat OU
4.A&M beats OU
5. Texas beats OU
2) Texas Fans will go away completely!
3) 1Tomcat will develop some common sense!
4) Texas will go 0-12!
5) Texas football will get punished like SMU cause they were guilty too!
Crimson & Cream True!
2) No
3) No
4) Yes
5) No
1) The way I see it first a team has to be good enough to beat a power and nobody in the Pac 10 really is yet. Then once you're good enough you have to get confidence and sometimes that takes a year of tough losses to learn some lessons. The problem in today's college football game is that sometimes there just isn't time for both talent and confidence to come together.
2) Tebow may very well once again be deserving of the Heisman as the best player in college football but odds are he won't win it. Because as you subtly illustrate in the original post the most deserving player usually does not win it so what are the odds it will happen two years in a row??
3) As much as I hate to admit it, the SEC is simply too tough and Georgia may have a game or two in which they get caught reading their headlines too much.
4) Weis has already lasted longer than most coaches at Notre Dame would have with his results.
5) Have we reached the end of time? These guys will be coaching for 100 more years.
2) Percy Harvin stays healthy for an entire season.
3) Paul Johnson wins more than 7 games in his debut season at GT.
4) FSU and Miami climb back into the top 25.
5) USF and UCF continue to be giant killers.
I remember hearing some disputes over GT's '52 and '17 championships when I was a student. The main defense coming from the AA at that time was go count how many NCs are claimed by Tennessee and Alabama. (Politics at its finest - don't answer the question, change the subject.)
Andre Ware -- Houston
Ty Detmer -- BYU
Barry Sanders -- Okie State
Doug Flutie -- Boston College
All "smaller" draw schools - all toting Heisman's. Maybe you're not aware who the Heisman voters are, but they are a very diverse group.
As far as Tebow have relatively more than McFadden, I would say that both players were the center of their offenses. However, Arkansas had several skill players drafted this year that were a supporting cast to McFadden -- Felix Jones, Marcus Monk, Payton Hillis. Meanwhile Florida had one offensive player drafted TOTAL -- Andre Caldwell.
So... not fair to say that Tebow had more to work with. He most certainly did not. The defense knew what he wanted to do every time -- and he still won the award.
Last year, Dennis Dixon was leading in all of the Heisman polls before injuring his knee and I truly doubt that Oregon has a bigger following than UF. That being stated, I think there has always been a bias toward some schools (e.g. Nebraska, Notre Dame) in the Heisman balloting.
If you believe that one, I have some "land" south of Naples you might be interested in acquiring.
1.) Clemson actually win ALL of the games that we should (which would result in #2 happening...)
2.) Clemson win the ACC
3.) Ohio State to lose at least 3 games (and stay out of the title game)
4.) Notre Dame not have a winning season
5.) 3 new teams in BCS bowls, including 1 from a non BCS conference
1. BYU plays for the National Title
2. Two Non BCS Schools make it to the BCS
3. MSU wins The SEC
4. A Big East School vs BYU for the National Title
5. ND finish 5-7
FUSC Geaux tigers
For what I thought of Utah in 2004 preseason look here. BYU will be very similar this year, but starting at #15 and ending around #3 or 4.
If a turnover at the top like 2008 occured simultaniously, well stranger things have happened
#5, why do you think ND is going to get that many wins?
*Purdue will win the Big 10+1
*Notre Dame will win 7 games(b/c their schedule is terrible) and get to play in the default Gator Bowl vs Florida St...
*Texas Tech STILL doesn't have any defensive talent, so everyone hyping them are idiots
*UConn could surprise again, watch out West Va
The two things that have had a huge impact upon football in the state of Texas
Light beer & round bales
Boys used to haul hay all summer long and after throwing those 75 lb bales they would drink full strength beer.
Fact is the SEC has more current NFL players, Has more drafted to NFL every year and has more National titles.
Now when i talk about Auburn , i may be bias but my claim that the SEC is best conference from top to bottom, well thats just a fact
flag is still displayed at stadiums in the conference! I wonder how many SEC fans would stand together on this? I do not know any of you SEC fans personally on here BUT I had to say it! This is my opinion and it is just how I feel. The SEC might field good football/basketball teams but I give it a SOLID F on how it treats African Americans when it comes to coaching. Arkansas hired a guy who didn't have the courage to face his team to say he was going to quit on them! Kentucky basketball fans said they would "forgive" Rick Pitino if he wanted to come back to coach at Kentucky after coaching for their most hated rival BUT chased Tubby Smith away! Kentucky basketball lost it's first Division 1-AA home game EVER under Billy Gillespie BUT that has been forgiven and he needs more time. Alabama would probably try to hire Don Shula before they would look at an African American! Louisiana State would take Nick Saban back before they would consider an African American! I don't mean
to offend BUT I am tired and I had to bust loose. I know the SEC fans will "attack" me to cover this fact up! I am not attacking NONE of the SEC fans at all BUT this is an attack on the conference. I know someone is going mention why you have to bring up race? Cause I wanted to! The SEC is not the best conference to me. I said it once and I will say it again ALL conferences have their great team, middle of road teams, and teams that should not even try to compete. Why SEC fans trying to convince the USA it's the best? I really have no clue BUT it is really important to them to at least try! I am out!
By the way I just want to "bust loose" and say that Oklahoma is boring! Damn...chew on that!
and by the way....no one likes to play the race card to get out of an argument
The Confederate flag was NOT a symbol of racism. It has been used by some racist groups, just as the symbol for Black Power has, as well as many others. Because some have chosen to use it as a symbol of racism doesn't qualify the symbol itself or those who choose to display it to be entirely racist. The Confederate flag was symbolic of the states that it represented. In turn, it was used as the identifying banner of the south in the Civil War. President Lincoln was clever to make people believe that the Civil War was about slavery, although it never was. It was quite ingenious because he was able to gain so much support for the war efforts, but it was never accurate.
I am not a supporter of the SEC at all. However, I do not find it appropriate or even in the least bit relevant that you are trying to degrade the conference as a whole just because some schools choose to show tribute to their heritage. I am sure that these institutions of higher learning know the difference, and are well aware of what they are doing. All of the member schools of the SEC have many races that make up their student bodies, as well as their athletic teams. To refer to one of these institutions as racist is asinine and absurd.
There are many ways far more relevant to attack the SEC. Please choose one, and I might even jump on board with you.

SWC -not -SEC
Remember that on fanblogs SEC rules Lennie and it doesnt do any good to argue with SEC fans because they all know there right
And when i see a confederate flag at an indian rain dancee then you can say racist
Here are some facts that you and many others are not willing enough to except.
An NFL anyalist reasearch shows the SEC leads the way with 137 projected starters on NFL rosters in 2008. The ACC is second with 121, followed by the Big Ten (105) and the Big 12 (72).
These are just facts sorry you have a hard time dealing with it. The SEC is ranked #1 in terms of atheletes. Which by the way translates to the field.
http://myespn.go.com/blogs/sec/0-1-22/NFL-pipel...
We're talk'n CFB here...you're wagin' a race war..
Grab a coctail, bubba! It's 5 o'clock somewhere!
GO GATORS!!
GO GATORS!!
In case you have not heard yet,
One of the 5 things I want this year is TK to qualify...Don't get too excited just yet....but word is that he has qualified. Can you imagine Terence Kerns and Noel Devine in the same back field? Let a-lone with Pat White QB'ing.....The golden era I tell ya.
As for Purdue, "not so fast my friend." I understand it's the coach's last year but they just don't have the talent. Most analysts aren't even putting Purdue in the top half of the Big Ten preseason rankings. Watch out for Wisconsin (as much as I hate to say it)!
Lastly, I do agree Georgia and TT are being overhyped but what can you expect from the media? That's part of being in the spotlight. Those players must learn to play like champions.
1) I think ASU will scare Pete but i think the Trojans will win the PAc 10 this last year before the Sun Devil era
2) No Tim Tebow will not win the Heisman, but yet another SEC sophmore will....Knowshon Moreno will win this years trophy
3)I think Georgia will go 11-1 on the season with a loss either in Baton Rouge or at home against Auburn(road team historically does well) but the real challenge will be against either AUB or LSU in Atlanta
4)I think ND will go 6-6 and take Charlie Weis off the hot seat......for now
5) I think the Jimbo Fisher era is upon us a FSU this will be Bobby's last year.......people have been trying to predict JoePA for half a century so who knows there
FUSC Geaux tigers
But UGA overrated???
1) Auburn wins the SEC, including tightening the noose around Alabama's neck a seventh rung...
2) Another two-loss SEC team makes it into the BCS CG, further cementing the fact that the SEC champ is a de facto MNC contender...
3) I want to see Notre Dame get paid a lot of money again for not even coming close to getting into the BCS... (means to an end)
4) I want to see Alabama have another mediochre year just so I can hear more chants of Tuberville better get the hell outta Dodge, Sheriff Saban is in town...
5) I want to see the Coaching Race of Death (CRD) finally laid to rest, literally and figuratively...
And since we're doing Top 5 lists, here's my latest in the babes department:
1) Marissa Tomei
2) Rachel McAdams
3) Anne Hathaway
4) My girlfriend
5) The Oriental Laker Girl...
:-)
1.) Megan Fox
2.) Aishwarya Rai
3.) Alessandra Ambrosio
4.) Allison Stokke
5.) Lilya Podkopayeva (in the spirit of the Olympics...she's a former Ukrainian gymnast, who I had a big crush on during the 1996 Atlanta Games, and she's grown up VERY well...hard to find on the 'net though)
I did have to google the oriental laker girl, and didn't try to find your girlfriend, but I'm still amazed that you don't know any of them.
Megan Fox was #1 by many many publications this year. She's the brunette from Transformers. Allison Stokke is a pole vaulter at Cal. Alessandra Ambrosio is a model. Aishwarya Rai is a Bollywood actress that has burst onto the scene lately because of how amazingly hot she is. I wouldn't expect you to know who Lilya is, but google the rest of them.
BTW, I'm up for any hijacking during the offseason when it's as dead as it is now.

CRIMSON -N- CREAM TRUE!
1. Of course, LSU repeats as National Champions. I do realize that ALOT of things will have to fall into place for this to happen. But with a new QB, new Def Coord's, plus the impact of the loss of several key players and not to mention the tougher games on the schedule being on the road...well, let's just say the cards are stacked against us.
2. The defense for LSU doesn't miss a beat with the departure of Bo Pellini. Co-coordinators Bradley Dale Paveto and Doug Mallory have no plans to try and "fix what isn't broken"...and that is a good thing.
3. Les Miles doesn't run a "quarterback by committee" with Hatch and Lee. Some would argue that this would be the best way because both have no starting experience so you share the load and give defenses a different look. I just don't think that these two are that far apart enough in skill level to make a difference.
4. LSU beats the dog shit outta Alabama in Baton Rouge this year.....just because they're Alabama. And an addition to this one is Auburn does the same to them in the Iron Bowl.
5. The National Champion comes out of the SEC....whoever it may be.
I've got several more dealing with Notre Dame getting drilled by everybody everytime, a LSU vs USC Rose Bowl matchup (hey, while we're wishing..right?), and BOTH Joe Pa and Bobby B retiring after this season....but you only wanted five so there.....that's my Top 5.

Either way, I don't really see that as a valid argument for conference strength. That only means that at some point in time 1 team was very good from that conference, and it happened to be different times.
