Fanblogs.com: Gator who stole dead girl's credit card signs with Ole Miss

  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
Ummmm! Delicious news. Means I'll get some more mileage out of this, with a few minor mods...
  • shiguy · 12 months ago
I'm waiting to hear a line "WHAT?! She was dead when I got it! o wait that doesn't work....What she gave me her card!...damn that won't work either......I'm illiterate and couldn't read the name on the card thinking it was mine!!! Ya that'll work...."
  • badgerballer · 12 months ago
Wow. What could possibly be wrong w/Mississippi? The best predictor of future behavior - is past behavior. A guy who's had this number of 'issues' (all by 19 years of age) is destined to have more. Its clear that he has no judgment and/or simply isn't that bright. I'm sorry, but ANYONE who doesn't realize that you are eventually going to get caught using a fraudulent credit card in this fashion is a moron. Period. There is no way to get away with this crime. You leave a *literal* paper trail that leads directly from the crime scene to you. And in most cases, the trail includes video surveillance of your commission of the crime(s). Using a dead persons credit card FOR SIX MONTHS(!) officially qualifies you for a spot on that show, "World's Dumbest Criminals".
  • juhjin · 11 months ago
Houston Nutt will do whatever it takes to look good with the fans, except recruit. He had so many "thug" problems at Arkansas it became a running joke. Yes, this is a special on "World's Dumbest Criminals." Houston Nutt will host the show.
  • Cobia · 12 months ago
Shepard Smith would not be pround to here this news.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
He might be prone to want to give him a curb job...
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
Guys...You must not have kept up with Houston when he was in Fayettnam...He thugged it out there, too-though way less than Bobby P and the crew will there now-but he's never, never ever gonna be known as a tough disciplinarian...

Par for the course...I'm sure Khayat & Boone are realllllly pleased to hear this news, right after he & Coaching SuperAgent Jimmy $exton shook them down with some Auburn rumors to get a new extension...

Glad I didn't have to be the one to say it.
  • Tom_Blogical · 12 months ago
I don't have the sufficient words to describe what I'm thinking and feeling about this guy.
  • FSU_Ben · 12 months ago
You know Oxford is a lot harder town to get in trouble in being about 1/6th the population of gainesville (which is quite close to Jacksonville -his home town-). Maybe this will be a good move for what is obviously a troubled kid. Also it probably has to do with not being very bright. I'm sure we all did stuff we would have regretted being caught at when we were that age, some legal, some not. He probably isn't smart enough to not get caught. I don't think I could be as cold as using a dead girls credit card (or even a live one) though. I'm sticking with he's really dumb and had bad parenting. I'm big on personal responsibility, of course, but I don't think sending him packing without some attempt at a second chance (third? fourth?) is entirely fair, if he doesn't make it to the NFL it is likely he will be making it to the Florida Penal System and I for one hope that is not his future.

It is hard to leave 5 stars dangling out there for a program that doesn't get many shots at them so I think we should ease up on Nutt. If the girl had been alive he probably would still be playing for Urban.
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
Urban Meyer & Nick Saban have a unique system for player eligibility...As I understand things, it breaks down like this...

Short of stealing a dead woman's identity, or dealing crack out of the Stadium Parking Lot, if you've got a pulse, you're eligible.

    It's definitely worked for them...
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
sounds like your sore at those who beat you this year. Auburn has many young boys that have been in trouble. Help these young men be good sons, fathers, and citizens instead of being negative and derogatory. Anyone can do that, look to the future in the most positive way. We all have something good in us, we have to help and empower each other in developing our best qualities.
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
Sounds like you haven't read the article I posted about the All-SEC team...

I'll be waiting with baited breath as you forward a similiarly worded message to the family of Ronald Goldman, as well...I'm sure they'll truly be inspired by your message of hope & change for the future...

If that guy wants to positively impact the future of this world, or his life, he can go start volunteering in his community anytime he wants. Join a church outreach program...Doing community service-that he's NOT required to do by law as a result of any legal transgressions.

I find it odd that you'd think his only route for having a positive impact in society is playing collegiate football again...

Sort've a sad commentary on your opinion of his worth as a human...
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
You missed it all together, its not just about him, its about what good people can do to help him and young people like him. We all have to give back to our communities. As adults, we are the ones held responsible for developing our communities, youth, and contry. What is the last thing you have done to help in your community for nothing in return? What kid have you made a difference in, besides your own, these are things we should ask ourselves and then put time effort and money into them to build a better city, country ect..... These are our basics.
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
Well, let's see...Last night, I went to Starbucks and met a ladyfriend of mine...

She just found out she got let go from her waitressing job, and I helped her apply at a Home Depot subsidiary-online-while we were at Starbucks, using my laptop...We also e-mailed an attached copy of her cover letter & resume in .doc format...

We then helped her apply for a Christmas position at the local Bass Pro Shops in my hometown, just to try to get her hired somewhere quick to get some cashflow.

This was AFTER I got off at 7:15, went and picked up my heart medication, and went to get my laptop at home, leaving dinner on the table, to go back up there...

THEN I realized Starbucks doesn't have free Wi-Fi, so I had to buy a coffee for $4.15, then pay $3.99 for a 2-hour block of Wi-Fi, which I didn't get to use since they closed on us...

Don't you DARE cast a stone at me...
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
wow defensive, no stone was cast at you, these were questions for all of us in society to ask ourselves. You seem like a nice person, none of this is personal, just saying trying to help this kid is a good thing if done right and Nutts is at least trying. I am sorry you have to take heart medicine, I hope you are able to get better.
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
Some would be surprised to think I even have one...

As a member of society, it was cast at me...

Nutt is serving his own interests by doing what he's done...and you obviously have no knowledge of his modus operandi when he was the coach at Arkansas...

Recruits he bought into the city were responsible for federal drug rings having to be brought in to stop dealing operations out of player's homes...

I have seen Houston Nutt's act before, and I've seen this man's acts as a human being, and neither one of them are as gilded as you make out to be.

Feel free to disagree with me, but personal shots or innuendo that I don't help my fellow man strike to my cold, withered heart, and they elicit a strong, vociferous, and typically vitriolic reaction...
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
well if what you say in true about what you do to help. there is a soft hearted person who wants to see good. its your perception that has personalized all of this, sounds like something way back brings these feelings of anger up. I am not pointing any fingers at you, just know things in america need to change and if this could be one positive change, give it a shot. Goodness is in you, just build on the positive , we can all better ourselves everyday.

"...but I don't think sending him packing without some attempt at a second chance (third? fourth?) is entirely fair, if he doesn't make it to the NFL it is likely he will be making it to the Florida Penal System and I for one hope that is not his future."

If he DOES make it to the NFL, then what are the chances he joins the long line of criminal embarrassments the NFL is currently enduring? This stuff is bred at the high school and college level, it doesn't just all-of-a-sudden show up once these young men reach the NFL and suddenly have $8 million in their bank accounts.

Accountability for one's actions is a must in a civilized society. And while I too hope that prison is not a part of the young man's future, treating him with kid gloves and a bleeding heart goes further toward that end result. As has been noted a zillion times, these young men need to be taught and understand that playing football at the collegiate (and professional) level is a privilege, not a right. And like any privilege, with abuse - it can be taken away.

But then, I understand that I'm a hardass like that.
  • Hotty_Toddy · 12 months ago
I'm not sure what to say. Apparently residue from Orgeron's tactics of recruiting are still lingering.
  • USC1801 · 12 months ago
    I know what to say.

If the young man really did what is being reported, then he should not be allowed a position on any team. PERIOD. It is not a coaches responsibility to keep him or anyone like him out of the "Florida Penal System" by continuing to sanction this type of behavior. It is, however, their responsibility to represent the university and society in general.

It's utterly disgusting we have coaches (and players) like this. Regardless of their coaching abilities, I have no respect for them.
  • Hotty_Toddy · 12 months ago
I agree with crimsonroll6's comment below. You don't know the motives behind this, you're only looking at it from the outside perspective. Yeah, what the player did was absolutely disgusting -- but who's gonna help him? Who's really gonna give him another shot and make things right in his life?

Don't judge, just sit back and see what happens.
  • USC1801 · 12 months ago
Sounds to me like you are attempting to shield both the player and more probably the coach. I'm not judging any more than you would if this fellow showed up at your doorstep and wanted to date your daughter. All of a sudden perspectives would change. It would no longer be a matter of "just football talk," it would become an issue of the man's character.

As to giving him another chance, he's apparently had them.
  • PrinceMarko · 12 months ago
Scumbag. I'm sure the Gator fans will give him quite a heckling during those games.
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
Judge not.......Houston Nutts is a man of honor and works with young men for the right reasons. Of all the negative comments on here, what are you doing for your community and society. Are you giving back? Children, young men and woman, they need the adults of this world for guidance and support. I am ashamed of what our society has become with very little empathy, care , or value for one another. Thank you Houston Nutts for being the southern gentleman that can see a reason to put extra time in with someone who needs you. You are doing like many wonderful coaches before you. Look at the Bear with Joe Naymith, he saved this young man. Alabama, Mississippi, and GA the true southern states that care for our people, Nutts I am glad your a part of us.
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
I work with the unemployed every single day, and I also work with folks who want to stop throwing their money away on rent, as well as refinance out of garbage mortgages...

Are you giving back? Or are you just preaching from a soapbox?
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
thats just it you work, you get a salary, and oh yes, I give my time to many organizations and neighbors and kids. All Im trying to say, is Houston Nutts works to try and help kids change, dont be so negative in a good gesture. We all need to give back.
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
You should look yourself in the mirror before you start trying to quote scripture or call me out...

I work PRO BONO putting people back to work, everday...I have pulled folks credit and worked with them to improve their lots in life, whether through financial counseling or credit rehabilitation-FREE OF CHARGE-for YEARS...

I find it mind-boggling that you'd try to store-front preach to me with some sense of righteous indignation...

You know NOTHING of me, and for you to judge what I do or don't do compared to Houston Nutt is laughable...
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
I look at myself everyday, and I can lay my head on my pillow at night without a bad conscience. you are the one who said work. I stand corrected and apologize. I am not preaching, not a church going super religous person. just trying to do whats right in this strange world. I do not judge you or by any way compare you to Houston Nutts, just saying I think he is attempting to make a change and do something good, and to down that is not where any of us should be. we should be encouraging in the attempt. Life is very hard for the kids now days, the schools are bad, the world reaks of things you and I never saw growing up, and kids have to be out there in an environment that uncaring and centered around peoples own motivates. There are some of us left, but we have to try and fix whats wrong.
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
    I'm sorry...Do you know where-or what I saw while I-grew up?

I find it fantastically amazing that you keep going with this, making assumption after assumption about me or our collective upbringing...

    Unbelievable...
  • Tyler_Tech · 12 months ago
You are being pretty naive IMO. Recruiting in the SEC is pretty cut throat. College kids are pampered beyond belief and this can contribute to producing some pretty bad apples. Besides it being a poor reflection on a University, i really could care less of what a college athletes personal beliefs or true character off the field is. Once the players step on the field, all of that is pretty much throw out the window.
  • otowngator · 12 months ago
I wonder if you would feel the same way if it was your deceased daughter that this thug was taking advantage of...............
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
My son was just killed by two young men on motorcycles and I burried him sat. I wish for these two young boys who are still with us that they improve and become good men, ( my son would have wanted to help them do just that) we cant change what has happened, but we can learn and become better human beings. bitterness and ugliness begets more of that. you asked the wrong one sir. good luck in the championship game.
  • otowngator · 12 months ago
It's called accountability and if this world had more of it we wouldn't be in the mess that we are in.
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
Our justice system is wrong. the foundation of the justice system when it was formed was not punitive, it was developed to rehabilitate. We do not do that. accountability is important and we should have that. However, we also have a moral obligation, a legal responsibility, and an ethical standard of making positive change. Part of forgiving is coping, accepting, and placing resolution to things by positive change. In order for the world to have accountability we all have to participate in setting good role models, becoming involved in our communities and loving our neighbor as we love ourselves, if we all did that, this society would not have things like this happen, but it has to start somewhere, with each one of us.
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago

    I pray for your loss...
  • crimsonroll6 · 12 months ago
thank you for your prayers, It is hard, but he was a good person and wanted good for others. we can make a difference if we stop being so judgemental and begin helping on another. Thank you for being kind and offering prayers to me. I appreciate it very much. Alot lies in ones grace
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
I've got about as much of that as African Elephant...

This man needs to find his own way, and look to something other than Football...Him being glorified and having his transgressions forgotten about isn't the answer...

There are millions of other avenues he could pursue...MILLIONS...

Receiving a SECOND extremely valuable academic scholarship at a school like the University of Mississippi, while being allowed free health care, free room and board, free books, tuition, tutoring, academic support...While also allowing himself to work towards athletic accomplishment...

    I don't agree with it...

His actions have not been properly punished, and he has already been forgiven...and rewarded again...

I find it repugnant that his prowess as an athlete and his physical talent are enough to excuse his behaviours and wash that stain off of him in some folks eyes.

    Repugnant.
  • otowngator · 12 months ago
    Agree 100%.
  • USC1801 · 12 months ago
    Well said.

And you've put your finger on both the problem and solution. We should hold these men accountable for their actions instead of giving them special treatment, much of it free.
  • Big B · 12 months ago
Why is this piece of crap not in jail? As for his being allowed to play, would those who support his getting another chance (as opposed to a second chance since Urban apparently gave that to him and he blew it), would you feel the same if it was UF that brought him back? I tend to doubt Urban Meyer would get a favorable response if he was back on the Florida Gators. It makes me wonder if any of us would welcome him back to our company in the same way that some want to welcome him back to football.

And Tebow your very welcome for your wake up call

Hopefully, the Right-Revrend will get him straightened out
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
Yeah, just like he woke Darren McFadden and the host of thugs he foisted upon Fayetteville up once he got them there...

It'd help if you commented less from a fan of the school where the coach in question is employed, and more from a perspective of "Houston Nutt brings thugs into his program who win football games and sully his institution's reputation at the same time."

Go look up his history...and come back and talk about Ole Miss...

[Insert pithy comeback about, "Aww...Ya'llz LSWho fanzzees iz just Yuuuptyyyight aboutst dat beatin' weez laid on ya'lllll in Tigre Stajum a month back!"]

Don't argue with an Ole Miss/Nutt fan about Nutt. It can't be done.

I dont have to you just did it for me...

    31-13
(insert impression of Nutt's pimp hand across Miles' face after taking a knee on the one yeard with a minute left, instead of making the score reflect just how bad it was)
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
Oh...So you're talking about our game?

Silly me, I was talking about your coach's propensity to take garbage players who can't even pass basic literacy tests, like Jerrel Powe, or an absolute life failure who happens to be a 5* caliber Safety, both at his former locale, and at his current job, from the looks of it after this story's broken...

I didn't realize you didn't have anything substantive to add to the conversation everyone else's having about this absolute joke of a move by your head coach...

Houston Nutt, the Al Davis of the SEC...

    Just win, Baby...

(RebelNutt24...That's called a setup...I goaded you into talking about the game so I could point out it has nothing to do with my opinion, or the subject matter...Knowing that you would. Congrats on the win. Sorry about your poor reading comprehension skills...Try to stay on topic, from here on out.)
  • Hotty_Toddy · 12 months ago
TE, let it go. There's no need to talk about the other players. Jerrel Powe worked hard for a long time to get into the University. I seriously do not think Houston Nutt got this guy and is just gonna let him run rampant. He's got to be under serious watch.

Michael Oher has a similar story, and very inspiring. Let's not blow it up anymore.

    RebelNutt, don't egg it on.
  • FSU_Ben · 12 months ago
Yes I read the book (Blind Side: Evolution of the Game) about Michael Oher but I didn't pay attention to see how he played, I just don't get many Ole miss games down here. I guess this was his last season and he must have done well for you :P Looks like he will be going to the NFL too. He is a nice story.
  • Hotty_Toddy · 12 months ago
How he played? Well lets see, he's only projected to be a top 5 first round draft pick, possibly #1 overall... lol.

He's a GREAT story. Really did alot for Ole Miss and himself and i'll be following him throughout his NFL career.
  • rebelNutt24 · 12 months ago
after a mental beatdown like I'm really not to sure where to begin.....Im not here to get into personal jabs, but seriously i hope you sleep well tonight knowing you so cleverly reminded me of beating you

Jerrel Powe (funny wasn't he commited to LSU at one point) had been recruited since cutcliff was the coach, and as in your all knowing tiger perspective- Houston Devil Nutt was the only one who cheated enough to get him eligible, you may be under the impression, he is going to college for free to play football and get an education but maybe some of these kids really dont have MILLIONS of avenues to take in their life.....chances of Jerrel powe graduating with a degree good enough to get him a high paying job are very low... chances of jerrel powe dominating SEC offensive linemen for the next 2 or 3 years and going to get a really high paying job are substantialy higher....

this kid however, maybe future bad a$$, has not even signed with ole miss, just comitted, nor has he even graduated from JUCO, who knows maybe he could decommit and commit to LSU, where MIles would give him at least 3 strikes (google Ryan Periloux), i know you think Miles is such a disiplinarian for kicking him off the team but seriously he gave him how many chances?..... just look at the situation from a non bias perspective as you asked me to do

i get it, stealing dead girl's credit cards is definitly not cool, but niether is being a hypocrite
  • TigerEducated · 12 months ago
Let's rewind for a minute, here...

Ryan Perrilloux tried to get into a casino with a fake ID.

Your guy stole a dead girl's credit card.

Ryan Perrilloux passed a fake $20 at a gas station in his hometown, and got leaned on by the feds to make sure it wasn't just his dumb@ss brother (Who let him borrow his ID to get onto the boat) who was the "mastermind" behind some larger counterfeit ring.

Your guy stole a dead girl's credit card.

Ryan Perrilloux was caught up in the aftermath of a fight in a bar, and I'm almost 99.44% positive he was a part of it starting.

Your guy stole a dead girl's credit card.

Ryan Perrilloux pulled some bullsh!t with a restaurant after they closed the bar, and he also missed some classes, and we 86'd his sorry @ss...

Your guy stole a dead girl's credit card, and went around using it...

He also got busted up in a barfight, got arrested, put on probie, and THEN stole the dead girl's credit card, and used it-REPEATEDLY...

Yeah...I'd say those two situations are COMPLETELY ANALAGOUS...

    LOL...

People please dont make fun of LSU fans, its not nice to pick on retards

Your opinion was completely about Ryan Periloser...

    You mentioned him specifically...

I goaded you about something that had nothing to do what I was talking about...and you did it-literally-even after I said that's exactly what you'd do...and it had nothing to do with my point I was making...

You were talking about comparative levels of discipline, and then tried to take a shot at Miles...your entire point was based on that...

    I responded completely on topic...

    You responded completely off topic...

You aren't making much sense, here...
  • FSU_Ben · 12 months ago
Oh please. A fist fight and some shoplifting hardly compare to the things you read about other teams, no one pays attention unless it's at one of the good schools though. Read ESPN more often our kids are practically saints in comparison to some things I've seen go by the news tickers at less known schools. Not saying FSU kids are perfect just a little tired of the "Florida State Criminoles". Aside from which you should read my serious comment, I think it favors Ole Miss.
  • thebuckstopshere · 12 months ago
If I wanted to hear about the downfall of society and such I would just watch the news. Lighten up everyone, this blog as with football is a haven we all can escape too. Unless I'm wrong College Football, from the vantage point of most, is still a pure sport. If we dwell on how corrupt it might be, then it loses a lot of it's luster. Remember ignorance is bliss.

What i'm trying to say is let's talk some X's and O's instead of morals, values and other things that make me feel guilty......
  • badgerballer · 12 months ago
Disagreed, but respect your sentiment and right to it. As fans, we have opinions and perspectives on a very wide range of topics - some that directly impact the game on the field, some that don't - but all perfectly valid and most that make interesting discussion. Slapping a "one topic only" limitation on a board like this one saps it of some of its appeal, some of its intrigue. People come to know one another and gain understanding and appreciation for one another's intellect by openly discussing a wide variety of topics. Its inevitable that some of those topics be controversial. There's no foul there, so long as everyone maintains a respectful and civil tone, avoids personal attacks and respects other's right and ability to disagree, I see no harm in discussions of this sort. I actually think it improves the community. But then, opinions are just like belly buttons - that's just mine.
  • thebuckstopshere · 12 months ago
I also respect your point of view but think it's a tad naive. Not that I want to sell the people here short or anything, but half the time we can't even have a civil and respectful conversation about football let alone moral and political topics. And I'm just as guilty of being offensive than anyone else. I'm really surprised we haven't had more such discussions with it being an election year.

I'm not for a one topic only clause and would be comfortable discussing most anything. But as passionate as we are as college football fans I can see things getting out of hand when we venture into other areas of importance to us. So call me a realist but that's how I feel.

    Okay you got it right
    UT vs tOSU
tOSU has been in alot of big games and are going to go into the Feista game teed off and looking for redemtion in the national spotlight. That great team from the Buckeye State has its team ready to go and give it all on the feild of play and coach Tressle and his staff have desighned a brilliant gameplan for victory. The Longhorns have had a great 11 and 1 regular season are looking foward to the challenge of facing the Mighty Buckeyes who are 1-1 against the Horns. The Longhorns are 3-1 vs Big10/11 opponents the last few years with their only loss against tOSU.
    Hookem-Horns
  • thebuckstopshere · 12 months ago
I'm sure we will be discussing this more in depth in the future but this is my take as of now.

I'm glad the Buckeye's got matched up against Texas. I think it's going to be a close game, and win or lose be a good springboard into next year, for both teams. I'm hoping Tressel breaks out something we haven't seen before with Pryor, maybe a triple option. I think if Ohio St. plays too much zone instead of man to man, McCoy will pick them apart.

Like I said, it should be a close good game. I like the matchup, and both teams should start out in the top five next year and I think this game will speak to that.

This is the story that almost got me thrown in Fanblogs jail last year and then I had to take a 6 month self-imposed break from blogging. All I can say is Houston is feeling the heat and recruiting in MS isn't easy, but Houston does have a good rep of keeping them clean once they arrive on campus and I think this kid MAY have learned his lesson. Good friend is a Reb grad and we talked about it. EVERYBODY knows this guy is under the microscope. You think Nutt job is going to let some cowboy ride into town and sh*t in his oatmeal. This boy farts in church and he's gone..........

    Big Tide...Is that you?

    MAN! I HAVE MISSED YOU...

Now, go slap Bleed_Crimson around and have him read this thread...He needs to focus on the parts that discuss accountability for our actions, LOL...

Yeah it's me TE. Wow, things changed around here while I was away. I thought about you the week of the Tide vs. LSU game. Hope you were knocking back some Abita. That was a great game. We gave it all we had but ran out of gas in the 4th quarter last Saturday. Hope we can get another NC for the SEC. How do I get a logo or photo by my name when I post?

SOMEBODY, has obviously made the decision not to give up on this young man. Rightly or wrongly, that's where it is. The point is, why give attention to it? We don't know what Nutt's motivation is; we can't read his mind. So, why give this the benefit of the press?

One of two things will happen to this man. He'll either develop a sense of real honor, realize the gravity of what he's done in the past, and utilize this 3rd or 4th chance to make up for it by making something of himself; OR, he'll laugh at what he's gotten away with, AGAIN, not learn from it, and wind up doing something else stupid.

Be advised; this is not about, AL, FL, LSU, or any specific school. This is not about Houston Nutt, Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, or any specific coach. This is about the individual and his choices. Some kids can't be saved. We are just not qualified to do it. He either wants to do well and will work toward that end, or he won't.

Crimsonroll6, I grieve with you, given the untimely loss of your son. You, your family, and your son are now the subject of my prayers. I laud your bravery and willingness to share, not to mention state your opinion. That said, this is a college football blog. Preaching is best served…elsewhere. But, just between you and me, I think you may have done TE some good, eh?
