It is official. Long is out.
"Things change. When the reassurances where made it was the middle of the season and we still had a chance to end the season better than last year. Obviously that did not happen."

Who's next? Grew up in the southwest and have wondered why they have not put a winner on the field. Yeah I know they are south of the big 2 in Cali, but how can Fresno, Boise, San Jose, Utah, ASU, UA and many others come in and take that much talent?
Any idea on who is next? This is me spitballing and ideas in my head on who I would like to see down there, and no idea if they even would have a shot.
1) Mizzou OC 2) Gus Malzahn
basically someone that does things differently and lets the athletes go out and play.

Its a tough job down there. The fans expect a team to go better than 2-10, for a team with 19 former players in the NFL.
Seriously though, Long was praised by the University President for turning around the academic issues they were having when he arrived and for the young talent that he has built.
Basically, Long has built a foundation for another coach to succeed with. If SDSU does well next year it will be with Long's program.

I'm from North Alabama and in my home town people live and die for football. Friday night is what everyone from the age of 6 to 76 waits for all week for. Saturday it's college football and there's enough Crazy Bama fans and Wild Auburn fans to keep it exciting. This summer I was sent across the US to Miramar California, it's about 2 min from the San Diego State Campus. I party with kids from the college and really enjoy San Diego. Yet, with all the partyin and people this Devidog meets not one single person has ever mentioned the Aztecs. It's quite sad. People are just not true football fans around here as they are back in the south. They hand out free Aztec tickets every week on my base. I think to myself, I wish I could get Bama tickets that easy. Hopefully, they can turn it around. I will say this though: There is enough beautiful girls to make recruiting real easy.

i can tbelive they fired long he is the reason sdsu has hope. they are doing better in the grades department . thanks to craft long had to turn a junior collage prgram into a div one program. everyone on the mountain west tv programs say that with all the injuries long had no chance this year. he has a great young quarteback and a good young recevier whit hte kid out ouf oceanside. the lossed to cal poly (ranked number 2 in div i aa) and notre dame arent bad losses. everyone has trouble playing at san jose state. than other than losses to new mexico, wyoming, and unlv all there ther losses are to bowl teams. long deserved one more year. and the buyout money that the boosters put up could of been used for saving the toy drive and food bank who are having trouble making there quotas this year for all the needy fammilys in san diego. now we are back at the begining. good job sdsu alum you are all idiots. i guess sdsu loves to start over. of course thes are the same idiots that wondered if fisher was the right choice for basketball becouse he didnt win in his first few years. we all c how that turned out. oh well better hope they get fulmer out here..
