Fanblogs.com: Mizzou getting help against OU from 'Horns?

  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Normally, coaches wouldn't have time to do this sort of sorted thing, but if it is true, no one can deny Texas a strong incentive to do so...

I don't have a problem with the ethics of this hypothetical case study...

But I'd be willing to wager that Miss Peacock did it in the study with Professor Plum...

i wish texas coaches could go on the field and help mizzou. i hope ou gets blown off the damn field. ou paid someone off. get your ass kicked by the horns and end up in big 12 champ game you tell me stoops didnt kiss someones ass. oh well we all know who won in dallas in october and thats all that counts.......ou can go straight to.......................................
  • shutterblog · 1 year ago
Yes, yes -- the University of Oklahoma and Stoops paid someone off. That's why Texas jumped us in the AP and the Harris Poll.

Yes, yes, it's quite evident that Stoops made sweet binary love to the computer polls.

Stay classy 'whorn fans. And can you please remind me again who beat Texas to put you in this tie-scenario mess to begin with because you couldn't just win out like Alabama and have a legit claim on going to the title game? Oh yeah, my bad - it was π - you guys just keep trying to revise history so I sometimes forget.

Outstanding post. And here is another way to look at this: Prior to this past weekend, Texas trailed OU in both the coaches and Harris polls. Then, Texas plays an unranked team with a losing record in Austin, TX and blows them out. Oklahoma however plays a #12 ranked OSU team in Stillwater and beats them by 20 points. When the polls came out yesterday, Texas somehow was able to leapfrog OU in the Harris poll and barely trail the Sooners in the coaches poll. How is that possible? I have no idea. Well, actually I do. The human factor. However, thankfully the computers this past weekend weren't as bias as the humans and were the neutral factor to OU jumping Texas. Thankfully, the computers unlike the humans can't be persuaded by Mack Brown speaking during the OU-OSU game or an airplane flying over Stillwater with a "45-35" message on it. BOOMER SOONER!

I could be wrong, have been before, but I think Mizzou will need all the help they can get......Coach P better take it and study hard....

There was a second shooter! A puff of smoke came from behind the grassy "Nole" in Dallas! Who would benefit? Who would pay? Who will be the Oswald?
  • raider_nation96 · 1 year ago
Well I personally think Texas Tech is the "Oswald" patsy in this case! Think about this for a second:
11-1 and no shot at BCS game here. Sucks beyond belief. Meanwhile Texas is virtually guaranteed one with the same record and a head to head loss to Texas Tech. Sounds about par for the course. Good luck Sooners cause I cant stand the prospect that Missouri could get the other BCS game with a 10-3 record losing to Oklahoma State, Texas, and Kansas (All beaten by Texas Tech). That would leave us out, despite beating Texas head to head AND the other two teams that our Big 12 North BCS Bowl rep would have lost to. (Both at home mind you)

Not crying here cause I personally think the correct representative from Big 12 South is going to the Championship Game. This just goes to show that there needs to be change in Big 12 and BCS system in offseason to rectify these problems.

I think all is fair in love and war and that the horns have every reason to be pissed off, granted all my love is for the SEC the Big 12 was definetly the story this year

    Saw a great one yesterday:
Printing thousands of 45-35 signs: $5,000
Renting a plane to fly over Stillwater: $10,000
None of it doing any good: PRICELESS
  • FanoftheGame · 1 year ago
Vince Lombardi, Knute Rockne and Bear Bryant could show up on the sidelines to coach Mizzou and it wouldn't make any difference. I'm not going to get into which team got cheated or benefitted the most in the Big12 tie-breaker system. The real losers here are the fans. As good as the Big12 was this year, the best they could come up with is an OU vs Mizzou championsip game that no one wants to see, probably not even Mizzou.
  • raider_nation96 · 1 year ago
Yep, I think the next iteration of this mess we call a "system" needs to be:

    1. Get rid of the independant status, join a freakin conference already!
    2. Dropping of divisions in conferences
    3. Requirement of teams to play the entire conference in its schedule.
    4. Either do away with conference championship games (my preference) or have them all require one and get 2 best teams in it.

And the grandaddy of them all...

    5. Use ranking for seeding of a 8 or 12 team (4 byes) tournament bracket playoff. (4 too few, 16 too many)
  • raider_nation96 · 1 year ago
With the big story being the Big 12 South this year, check out the matchups that potentially happen if the thing was set up on rankings at basically the end of conference season (not withstanding the USC/UCLA & Cincinnati/Hawaii matchups which may shake up the seeding a bit.):

    (12) Ball State
    (8) Penn State
    ----------------------------Winner of 8/12 game
    ----------------------------(1) Alabama
    (9) Boise St
    (5) USC
    -----------------------------Winner of 5/9 game
    -----------------------------(4) Florida
    (11) TCU
    (7) Texas Tech
    ------------------------------Winner of 7/11 game
    ------------------------------(2) Oklahoma
    (10) Ohio St
    (6) Utah
    ------------------------------Winner of 6/10 game
    ------------------------------(3) Texas

Are you kidding me?! TCU gets a shot to prove to world if they can beat Texas Tech, Texas Tech gets to see if OU that much better, the potential for an OU/TX rematch. That right there is gold for Big 12 South. Then the conference supremacy discussions, whether these undefeateds are for real. All those things everyone talked about (and continues to talk about), right here on paper just begging to be instated. I think I will e-mail Obama with this!
  • 8th_St · 1 year ago
If you're going by seeds, it's 5-12, 6-11, 7-10, 8-9. You can't just pick and choose who plays each other. Even a dummy like Obama would hopefully know that.
  • raider_nation96 · 1 year ago
Well I may have set this up wrong, but I certainly didnt "pick and choose". Honest mistake there. Would they then re-seed to give #1 team lowest ranked advancing team in this case?

What a pathetic crybaby...I am really sure that Stoops PAID someone. How stupid. The only ass kissin I saw this weekend was from Mack Brownnose during Bedlam. You, and everyone that thinks like you are pathetic small minded snivelers. Its a game, theres a winner, and a loser. Sniveling does no good. Its in the past now, time to move on. If the help comes from Texas to Mizzou, who will probably need it, I am sure that it is not that unsusual. There are no supersecret ninja things that can be told to Mizzou that they couldnt see on film. So go back to the trailer, and digest that for awhile. or go back to your Playstation with cheat codes and maybe your team might win. Boomer Sooners

I don't know which is better
    1. Texas fans waddling in their excrement over the "rip off" they received in the Big 12 south representative decision...or
    2. Texas fans waddling in their excrement over OU getting the shot at the BCS...or
    3. Texas fans waddling in their excrement until the next Red River Rivalry...or
    4. Texas fans waddling in their excrement while Brent Mussberger admitted OU is a dominant team (finally)...or
    5. Teas fans waddling in their excrement!
  • gohorns1012 · 1 year ago
we will all see who's doing what when the final rankings come out after bowl season
  • raider_nation96 · 1 year ago
So by this rationale, are you willing to admit that IF OU loses either the Big 12 Championship Game or the BCS National Championship Game that Texas Tech should be ranked ahead of Texas?
  • gohorns1012 · 1 year ago
if not for the overwhelming loss to ou, then yes. as it stands i saw tech get dominated. i do think they are top 5. crabtree reminds me of the freak RANDY MOSS because he catches everything. harrell is going to be a good qb in the pros, i would say a first rounder.
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
So by this rationale you have no problem with OU being in title game, because they were the team that destroyed Tech that beat Texas.
  • gohorns1012 · 1 year ago
texas was the team that beat OU that destroyed texas tech, round and round we go, doesn't matter now, OU fans should get off their high horse and some texas fans should do the same. tech fans can cry if they want to, i'll admit they beat texas AT HOME, but out of the 3 teams , not one has cracked under pressure, real pressure like tech, repectfully. Do i think they are very good? yes. Do i think they're as good as texas or OU? no. I don't care if they lost in lubbock or not. they kept they're composure and made a hell of a comeback to almost win a game. if you look back in the last ten years, this is not the first time tech has knocked texas off at home. texas won the national title in 2005 and when they played tech that year, they had to come back from 19 or so at half. they had to come back against okie state something like 28 down at half that same season. they were nine seconds from being 12-0 this year, i said myself, after texas scored that last touchdown" they've left tech to much time" anissue of youth and coaching mistake. " hey rb, fall down at the 1 yard line" hard to believe. the better team won that day, plain and simple. i don't have a problem with OU or tech being in the big 12 title game. but don't use a chain to prove dominance. all i saw was tech get shocked , quickly, and then do a bellyflop the rest of the game. thats not a championship team, but they're damn good. i saw ou leading most of the texas game, but just did'nt have the D to stop texas, otherwise they would have beat them. OU lost a lead, because their D was'nt as good as texas' texas stopped OU just enough times to win the game, and had tech at their finger tips, they got outplayed. you can't screw around with a team like tech, they will score aimlessly. i stand by my statement that texas is the best team in the big 12. at least texas had a chance to win the texas tech game in the last few minutes, the others were not so close and 1 was a blowout...now enough...OU is playing for the big 12 title...i hate it , but i accept it. i don't think they will have a problem winning either. IF IF their was a texas ou rematch on another neutral field, either team could win the game, as i think OU is playing very well. IF texas played tech in austin, i think it would be a different story, but you never know about tech. the 3 of them didn't do anything this year but make EVEYONE IN THE NATION look at the big 12, and without any one of the three, the conference would not be what it is now
    hook-em--go big12
