Fanblogs.com: Need Sugar Bowl tickets? Utah has plenty to sell!

  • Tyler_Tech · 11 months ago
Boise state woulda sold all their tickets.........
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
Agreed, and they will buy Humanitarian bowl tickets and cheer for Nevada.

This is a dissapointing day for me, as a Utah fan.
  • kennybee · 11 months ago
yes they wouldav'e, can ticket sales guarentee a W? not....
  • jake · 11 months ago
That's a hard shot to the Utah football fan base
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
In fairness, travel is probably a pricey ticket from SLC to New Orleans, especially around the holidays.
  • jake · 11 months ago
Valid point. I'm glad the BCS thought that one through.

Maybe a playoff system with regional considerations (like BB) would help? Ahh I'll put that down with the numerous other reasons a playoff would be better.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
Yeah... I'm sure Utah's ticket sales will be a great supporting point in your playoff list. :-)
  • jake · 11 months ago
The BCS hasn't listened to legitimate reasons, so that point can't hurt.
  • Regan · 11 months ago
We have a whole 'nother thread for that Playoff mess...
  • Zac · 11 months ago
Actually, prices have fallen, and there are even better specials to hot spots like Orlando, or New Orleans. Thes duzna loook goood.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
If my team wants to be considered like a BCS team they need to travel like one.

Boise State does this. Utah needs to as well.
  • Ute_fan · 11 months ago
    ..
  • Ute_fan · 11 months ago
not posting where I it want to
  • Ute_fan · 11 months ago
I looked into plane tickets and they are around a grand right now and they were around 1300 last week when i looked. I wish the fiesta bowl would have picked them up again. then we would have just driven like last time.
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
How are tickets so expensive, it's not like your flying into Bar Harbor, its freakin Nahlins.

Is it the airport in Utah that is doing the screwing?
  • jake · 11 months ago

  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 11 months ago
What do you expect? Not even Ben Prather is going. Word probably got out...
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
I am calling the Utah Ticket office this afternoon.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
    Section 620 Row 7 Seat 11

I like the upper deck corner seats...

They remind me of my father's season tickets at RFK growing up...
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
In fairness... this is VASTLY better than the 24 tickets sold to the Humanitarian Bowl. (Not a joke)
  • Porcine · 11 months ago
People are excited about Nevada and Maryland? Well, I am expecting a good game, just a quiet one. Weird bowl tie-ins we have.
  • Zac · 11 months ago
So, the Terps are playing "another" Wolfpack. Wow...
  • Clemson_Joe · 11 months ago
Isn't the ACC getting out of that bowl agreement? If we're not, we should be. There's absolutely no allure at all to seeing any of the potential match ups that bowl presents. That game should be Western oriented.
  • Regan · 11 months ago
Yes, this is the last year for the Humanitarian Bowl for the ACC; it is being replaced by the EagleBank Bowl.

In a fun twist of irony, when the ACC had overlap and 9 Bowl slots, they had 10 Bowl eligible teams....
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
The MWC will be taking the place of the ACC in that game next year.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
    Lets make this clear...

Utah has sold 12500 of thier 17500 tickets, 10000 of those before the bowls were even announced.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
Right. That's mentioned in the OP.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
So is: "the Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that only 2,500 tickets have been sold since the game was announced"
  • The_Observer · 11 months ago
10,000 before the game was announced plus 2,500 since the game was announced equals 12,500...it's pretty clear.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
    Yep... what The_Observer said. 10,000+2500= 12,500. 5,000 still available.
  • MattRyan · 11 months ago
In all honesty...... I feel terrible for UTAH for being put in this matchup... Poor guys, they have to go the dreaded superdome where the New Orleans 'Aints play, then they have to face a tough alabama team... But hey, what can we say, the REAL national championship game was played on Dec. 6th in the best dome in the best city in the U.S.A. (no offense to anybody else) But yea Bama wins this one 34-10 thanks to the enormous offensive and defensive line. I just don't see UTAH having an answer for the run or the play action.
  • shiguy · 11 months ago
BAHAHAHAHAHHA Did you really just call Hotlanta the greatest city in the U.S.? Hahahaha wow. Well i'm sure you can be proud of the Coca-Cola headquarters or maybe Chick-Fil-A..wait nm having that last one almost does make it the best city. No i'm sorry words cannot describe the cespol city of the south.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
Don't forget the Waffle House headquarters...
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 11 months ago
    Damn straight!

Hey, you got me a ticket, too, right?
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
No, but if you are reading this thread you know where they can be gotten!
  • Zac · 11 months ago
I dunno, Matt. WVU went to Atlanta back in 2005 and beat the SEC Champ straight up. Though this year's AL team is not the SEC Champ, and is arguably better than that one was, there's no reason to believe UT can't take em. I'm not saying they will, but I don't think the Tide wins this one going away. I think UT is gonna show the Tide where their heart is. I'm even willing to bet that, while Bama will likely score early on, UT will scratch and claw their way back in it to the point that AL winds up hanging on for dear life.

Make no mistake. Bama got what they deserved. They had one hellova year; they played for the SEC crown with distinction; they just didn't make the plays toward the end when they needed to. That's it. AND, while your opinion has been noted, I think the NC has yet to be played, and that perhaps one of the two which should be in it, isn't. BUT, that's just my opinion. Either way, both games will prove to be ESPN Classic's. Count on it.
  • Regan · 11 months ago
    Wow.

    I got nothing.

The College of Charleston would sell more than that, but as always, that wouldn't be fair to the Tide or whoever would be unlucky enough to line up agains the Cougars....

....it would be a slaughter....255-0 Cougs (if EA Sports is any indicator)
  • OU_Ron · 11 months ago
The Fiesta is alot closer than the Sugar, probably would have sold out if they were in the Fiesta..........perhaps...???
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
    +10,000 Pittsburgh couldn't sell...

We travel east better than the Big East travels west...

Still Utah should have sold out. I am dissapoinded in our fans.
  • Zac · 11 months ago
Now, there's a surprise. Usually Pitt sells there tickets and asks for more. Maybe it is this friggen economy.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
That excuse did not work in 2004.
  • Eye_of_the_Tiger · 11 months ago
    I don't blame them
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
No surprise here, I have Alabama beating Utah as my #33 confidence. This game of course being right being UF beating OU as my top confidence (I’m a homer).
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
My completely unbiased picks have the confidence around 28, going the other way.

I will say I have crunched numbers several times in several ways and consistently get to a value of Alabama typically performs 7 points better than Utah, but Utah wins 2/7.
  • "BC" · 11 months ago
i'll place a bet with you on those odds.

    Bama wins, i get $200
    Utah wins, you get $700

    deal?
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
You give odds at 2:7, which is 2 out of 9 games, a good deal, but $200 is way out of my price range.

    Sorry, no deal.

Besides, I like my Karma better when I don't have money on the line.
