So I'm guessing June Jones won't be bringing the Haka to Dallas. (too bad)
By going retro with the uniforms, maybe they will recruit the next Eric Dickerson. (unlikely)
At least they are better than the new UNLV uniforms. (by a wide margin)

When I heard that SMU was going back to old uniforms, I was really hoping for the powder blue mustang helmet logo outlined in red they used in the 80's. But the red logo is still very nice.Blue and red pants would have been a great addition as well. You could use 9 combos that way, which I've always been a fan of multiple combos. Overall, even though the last uniforms were among the best in college football (minus the Nike piping on the jerseys), this is still an upgrade.

I didn't like the late 80's SMU blue pony, because -- in my opinion -- it was a big departure (#1) and really represented just the lame duck seasons (#2).

Ahhhhh...Dan agrees. You need to co-ordinate. I don't agree with the 9 possible combinations. Red pants with white jerseys AND white pants with red jerseys would be fine!

Bout time they got the hint to go old school. When you have tradition like SMU has u got to go old school sometime. It will definately be a more interesting year at Ford Stadium. It's always hard for me when i work security for their games not to actually watch the games (since we are supposed to be watching the crowd), but it will be harder this year with all the hoopla surrounding the ponies coming into the season. Wish the Horns would schedule them for a home and home. God Bless Our Troops! Actually got to spend the 4th with a couple of ole Navy buddies hope everyone had a safe one!

SMU *always* wants to play Texas. There's so much tradition there that the alums basically demand that the Ponies try to get games with UT (although they expect a home & home).

Texas is the one that told on SMU. You know they snitched on SMU after SMU offered Eric Dickerson more money than Texas did. Talk about being a sore loser!

Yea, but why would Texas want to play them, which they haven't done since they were both in the Southwest conference. Being in Conf USA, SMU is now a cupcake to them and could water down Texas if the Horns made a run at the MNC.
Looking at Conf-USA, the only historic rivals left for SMU are Rice and Houston. I still remember that Houston-SMU game in 1989, SMU's first year back, when Andre Ware hung 95 on SMU's soccer team. Most points I've ever seen during my lifetime. I think SMU is still looking for payback...

I think we agree when it comes to uniforms for the most part. Coordination is important. However, I like lots of variety. I've been a fan of Oregon's uniforms. I love the idea that I'll never see the same thing twice in one season. I'm a Texas A&M fan, and you can imagine how ecstatic I became when the basketball team introduced black and silver alternates last season.
