Miami has lifted the in state restrictions as far as USF and UCF are concerned, since Eugene has stated that he wants Ribert close to home. But the Marves are still upset that the three SEC schools are still off limits. How much closer to home can he get than USF? I think this shows the Marves for what they really are.

The rumor now regarding Nix's replacement is that Shannon is doing his homework on Danny Langsdorf. I haven't seen much of Oregon State, but what I have seen, he would be a good choice. They have a good balanced attack. He gave USC's defense fits this year, and has beat the Trojans 2 out of the last 3. Anybody heard any other rumors?

Miami has USF coming up? Didn't realize. Seems like FSU and UF don't want to play USF (some fear of giving them legitimacy maybe). I think USF is ok to play now, not causing harm to either program should they lose.

Not gonna happen. Although I wish it would, that way Marve can see what Spence can do when allowed to hit him in the mouth on the blitz.

Well if he gets the block removed he should play at USF. How perfect a school as it can get adequete reciever recruits, compete for a BCS bowl and National Titles and doesn't have hundreds (or any) of 5-star quarterback recruits lining up to play there. It would be a perfect fit. Easy -BCS- conference and a nice looking OOC schedule (I mean they scheudle decent teams). This is the school to get noticed at and replaced Miami in the big east, what better way to get revenge then to bring USF to a level that they really do REPLACE miami in the big east! I think it's a perfect fit!

Plus, he could play next year. Brock Berlin could have been a more consistent QB if not for sitting out a year.

Unfortunately, it looks like young Bobby has worked inside the NCAA Transfer rules...

A SA wanting to transfer may notify ANY school he or she is interested in in writing without gaining permission from their current institution...

It is then the "second" institution's responsibility to gain permission from the SA's current school to actually contact the athlete formally...

I haven't seen anything from UCG or Shannon's side to prove that the Marves' did anything outside those rules...

Sounds more like they wrote their letters and when schools came a-calling, Shannon decided to stick it to young Bob...

Marve can get a hearing from a UCG non-athletic comittee (similiar to the Warren deal last year at FSU) in order to have ANY of the transfer blocks removed...

They still are saying he can't go to those schools but part of the restriction was lifted. I say bravo to blocking the schools he talked to beforehand.

Another update:
According to ESPN Marve can now play for any SEC school except those that he talked to prior to his release or shortly after (so not Florida, LSU, or Tennessee).

The other two restrictions are still in place. He cannot play for an ACC team or for a team in Florida (didn't notice any specifics on whether that was FBS or any team period).

Rumor has it that Marve's dad and high school coach has been in talks behind Coach Shannon's back with Tennessee, Bama, and LSU gauging interest in Marve. I applaud Shannon for dropping the hammer on the back alley meetings. Bottom line is that Marve (who I really liked) needs to man up and compete for his job, or at least not have his people doing recon work behind the scenes while he is still a member of a team.

Dude your trippin everyone know's if you have to play two QB's you really
have none, i didn't mean that they wanted the same thing as florida had,
but they were indecisive and it cost them in the long run. jacory is the
better passer and marve is the better runner, but they can each can do
both. marve is going to transfer anyway so miami is left with the better
of the two.

Under the conditions of his release, Marve will not be able to transfer to an ACC or SEC school, and he is forbidden to transfer to any school within the state of Florida...

I understand blocking the ACC transfer but the next two seem a little...for lack of a better term..."Eff You!"-ish on the part of Shannon...

To see where I'm coming from though, we need to look at UCG's future OOC for 2010-11 which will be Marve's next (& last) two season's of play and take a look at the ACC bowl tie-ins shared with the SEC along with the conference's toal number of bowl tie-ins...

2010: FAMU, @ tOSU, @ PITT, USF
2011: tOSU, KSU, @ USF, and one more game TBD...

ACC/SEC Bowls: Chick-Fil-A (ACC #2 vsSEC #3/4/5) & Music City (ACC #5 vs SEC #6/7/8)
Total tie-ins: 9

Putiing it all together...

UCG has only one OOC open date in 2011 but has already filled the others with 3 D-1 teams so assuredly a sacrificial goat is on the plate for the last slot...

Which more than likely would rule out an SEC opponent leaving the only chance of lining up against a SEC team in the two bowls out of the nine UCG could end up in...

Looking at the state schools on those future schedules, it's easy to realize the wise decision Shannon would be making if he chose to block Marve's transfer to USF given the increasing talent pool forming there and that the Canes would face Marve twice or FAMU simply because they are on the schedule...

But blocking his transfer to other in state schools is uneeded...

Why should Randy really care if Bob Marve wants to play at UF, UCF, FIU, or FAU if they aren't on the schedule when Marve's going to be there? Why would he especially care if Marve played for Bethune Cookman or Jacksonville U even if one of them WERE on the schedule?

It appears that Shannon's attitude is that if Marve won't play for him he won't play FBS ball anywhere in the Southeast...

Point well taken about the blame.

Looks like Marve had other reasons for heading out, and as the story keeps coming out, Nix and Shannon were having conflicts on top of any on-field issues that the HC may have had with the OC. That's fine, I guess, if it wasn't working, it wasn't working.

I was under the opinion things were going a lot better internally than they appear to have been, so who knows?

So long as the 'Canes keep improving, I'll be happy. I really like Harris and I put a huge amount of stock in Shannon...

(Take note: this comment was made after the season was over. I never call for an HC to be fired until the season is over; even Tommy Bowden...)

I also thought that Miami had seemed much improved this year. In the last few years I had just thought that they were terribly overrated, and yet in this year, I kinda thought that they were underrated. In this year, I had thought that the whole ACC was underrated, and that Miami was playing in a real tough conference. California jumped out on them, and it seemed like it might be a beatdown, but the Canes battled back real well. Cal has a pretty good defense over there. They have had one for a few years now. I agree that the whole Miami team was very young. The QB Marve was not in the game - and Miami played pretty well in the Bowl game. Better than I expected them to. To bad, but in this world, we always have to have somebody to blame.

I just read that Miami QB Robert Marve has been granted a release and will transfer. The rumor is that Marve was closer to Nix than he was to Shannon and he (obviously) was unhappy about his two suspensions this year.

I wish I knew. Some people blamed Nix. Others blamed Regiie Ball. IMO, 25% of their plays should have gone to CJ, though it was never anywhere near that.

Nix did assemble a nice list of upset wins over teams like Auburn, Clemson, and Miami while in Atlanta, so he's not an idiot, though his offenses seem to struggle for consistency.
