Nutt won enough games. Half of his wins were against teams we should beat anyway. He was forced out because of the way things were handled, or should I say mishandled. They couldn't believe anyone would dare question them. The thing people can't stand about him is he and a few others have the gall to act like the fans caused all the problems. What do they do? They effectively embezzle about $4 million and go to another job and make nearly another $2 million. The UA had an image to protect, so very little information got out. In the end he looks like the victim and the UA van base are the bad guys.

Thanks for the link-Porky interesting stuff- Looking art the situation from a Hog's point of view, yalls fanbase is really alot like Texas A&M, I still find it remarkable that in some places going 8-5 means fire the coach. Given the competition in the B-12 and the SEC just making it to a bowl ought to be good enough-na we want to be champions every year. With some coaching changes it takes several years for a program to redevelop itself.
Good luck with the rest of yalls season and I would like to see more UT vs Ark games in the future, The Texas Fans were in a frenzy of anticipation leading up to last weeks game given all the history of the rivalry and all.

I thought our defense played better than the Alabama game, they had to play too much. We were playing with our backup LT and LG, Dick's blind side. Too much pressure too quick which led to too many short possessions.

I thin they are looking for the END of WWII not the beginning. It ended in September of 1945, but "the boys" were just comiing home as the season was about to start. The "Modern Era of College Football" began with the start of the 1946 season.

They were on probation in 93 and couldnt play any post season games. that is why they were not given a # 1 ranking in 93. They were 11-0 but still would have won 2 more games to finish out undefeated.

Hey OU Fan congrats on yalls victory over the TCU Frogs. I too will be pulling for TCU this season, they have some tough games ahead. We all know that these early non-conference games are scheduled years in advance and when trying to compare competition its kind of difficult to assess.Only at the end of the season can strength of schedule really be determined.
For Example when the OU vs Wash was scheduled, the Huskies were probably alot better team than they are now, the same could be said of Arkansas who only last year beat the #1 LSU Tigers. The Texas vs Rice series is one of the oldest in CFB and Rice has really improved alot and are going to do well in their conference this year. This weeks Rice vs Tulsa should be an offensive explosion and Tulsa is probably favored in this game. Rice this season is 3-2 with their only losses coming against ranked opponents Vanderbilt & Texas. I be pulling for the Rice Owls this season and it was purty cool that the espn guys put helmet stickers on a Rice helmet after their 77-20 victory over UNT.
The Arkansas game was really kinda disappointing from this fans perspective, because the Horns totally dominated Arkansas for the entire game even with the 2nd & 3rd string freshman on the field. Looks like its going to be along season for the Hogs 2-2 and they probably shouldn't have run off Houston Nutt .Sure they lost some great players, but so did Texas, heck RB,TE,WR etc etc are in that other league. The coaching change as got to be the biggest factor and the same can be said for Texas A&M who has really performed poorly so far this season. At least Arkansas's losses were both against top ten teams, cant say that about A&M.
This week we start conference play and yall face the Baylor Bears 2-2 in Waco Texas. The Bears also have a new coach and both of their losses were against teams from BCS conferences that were ranked at the time. They beat Wash st 45-17 and played a great game at UConn 28-31. OU is heavily favored in this weeks game and these are the type of games that you cant really overlook kinda like Miss vs Fla or Oreg St vs USC anything can happen. I was going to go to the game, but I have to work.

Auburn gets shafted

For some reson pollsters like Oklahoma and they do not like Auburn. appollarchive.com keeps a database of teams ranked #1 and I sat down to compare Auburn and Oklahoma over the last 25 years.

During that span Oklahoma has had 5 seasons of 1-loss or better ( 1-loss in 85-87, 04 and 0-loss in 2000). For that effort OU has been ranked #1 for 46 weeks since 1980.

Compare that to Auburn who has also had 5 seasons of 1-loss or better (1-loss seasons in 94,87,83 and 2 0-loss seasons 1993 and 2004). For that effort Auburn has been ranked #1 just 4 weeks since 1980, and they have never been ranked #1 since 1985. Sheeh.

According to the National Championship Foundation, since 1901 Alabama has won 11 national championships. The years were 1925, 1926, 1930, 1945, 1961, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1978, 1979, and 1992.

Actually, Alabama has won only 7 outright National Championships. These are the ones which they actually won the National Championship game. Not how many votes they got. The years were 1925, 1930, 1945, 1961, 1965, 1979, and 1992. In 1926, they tied with Stanford in the Rose Bowl. In 1978, there was a 3-way tie between Alabama, USC, and Oklahoma. All three teams won a bowl game but there is no indication which one was the national championship game
some people wouldnt like to recognize any of them lol.

I believed that Oklahoma will beat Texas by 40+ points this year. Oklahoma non-conference schedule was not all that BUT Texas non-conference schedule was a joke. The Longhorns will be who I thought they are on Saturday Night when the Bisons beat them. Let the .500 season began!

Fan, one other observation on Texas, they have had 3 home games so far this year, the score on all 3 have been 52-10, any team that has to play in Austin better beware........Glad our game is at the Cotton Bowl..

OU Ron...I said it before the season started that Oklahoma will have NARROW victories at College Station and Stillwater. Oklahoma State ALWAY have and ALWAYS will play Oklahoma when the Sooners are ranked in the Top 5. For whatever reasons the Sooners will be up for Texas and down for other teams. I predict a Red River Route by the Sooners and I am sticking to it, DOGGONE IT!

Hey OU Fan...I will tell you as well as any other Oklahoma Sooners fan that Oklahoma is not unbeatable. Do I think Oklahoma will beat Texas this year, YES! Do I hope Oklahoma beats Texas real bad, Yes 56 - 10 hopefully! Texas needs to worry about a Rocky Mountain Low when the Bisons stampede that behind. GO COLORADO!

Fan, I worry about them all, sure Texas is good, but it's not any different than any other year, both teams are ranked in the top ten, they could be ranked 40 teams apart and when they meet and it would still be played like # 1 and # 2, that's just the way it is with Okla and Tex........actually the team that concerns me more than Texas is Oklahoma State, I think they can be the upset team this year, not only for OU, but for several others.....

OU-Ron, Lennie Collins, other fellow Sooners fans, does Texas worry any of you? They have been put putting up phenomenal numbers and scores. I keep telling myself that haven't been tested and I'm sure any Texas fan would say OU hasn't played anybody, but I would then counter argue and say that Arkansas is in rebuild mode and Rice, UTEP, and FAU were no competition. Although Washington is I belive 0-4, OU did have to beat them in Seattle. Cincinatti is currently 3-1 and TCU is 4-1. Cincinatti and TCU both had a good defense plus, Cincinatti had a great offense which tested our defense. I don't know. I do know however that I will be rooting for TCU to beat BYU on October 16. I root for any team that can help my team's SOS. BOOMER!

Its always great as a fan to read threads like this. It gives me as a fan a good feeling inside plus it is well deserved like several of you have mentioned. Here is to OU bringing their A game for the rest of the games from here on out (not that they haven't been.) By reading several news articles and etc, it seems that Stoops has the team pretty focused and determined not to get caught up in the rankings. I hope it stays that way. Hopefully, OU does not look overlook Baylor. Baylor needs to be their number one concern. OU is now locked on as every teams target. BOOMER!!
