I don't see any upsets here.

    Georgia
    OSU
    Boise
    FSU
    UTAH
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
FSU over Wake Forest is an upset, technically speaking.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
    And Boise over Oregon isn't?
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
You're right, it is. I missed that one.
  • Regan · 1 year ago
Yup. This is now the world we live in.
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
I pick Arizona State over Georgia, Auburn over Louisiana State, and Tennessee over Florida. I will be upset if they don't win! Oregon gone beat Boise State.
  • PrinceMarko · 1 year ago
I dont think Tenn. is going to beat Florida or ASU over Georgia, but you never know.
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Lennie, you must be pretty upset this morning, 0 for 4
  • Lennie Collins · 1 year ago
I will still continue to post my "upset(s)" each and every week. I don't see any this week but that can change!
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
So, Ben...Who are you picking this weekend? LSU or Auburn?

    ;-)

P.S.--> I feel the need to apologize for allowing BC a forum to express how he "makes love" to his girlfriend of "over a year" who has a "weatlhy father" and I think we're all in "agreeance" on the fact that the apology is needed...
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
Sometimes it is best not to pick a game, just sit back, enjoy a beer and watch whatever goes down. I think I picked LSU on the Pick'em, but I am batting about 0.500.

    GO Yuengling!
  • Porcine · 1 year ago
What is a two loss win?
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
lol, an amazing feat that only Wake Forest can accomplish when playing Mississippi.
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Seriously, what is a "two loss win"? Ole Miss has lost one game, and that's to Wake Forest, which, of course, is a requirement if Wake Forest won the game.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
Obviously the 30-28 score in that game indicates it should have been a 2 point win, not a two loss win.

Apparently my editor failed me once again befor publishing.
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Now that makes a lot more sense. Thanks for clearing that up.
  • Zac · 1 year ago
I don't know. Ben could be onto something there...a "2-Loss Win". Sounds like something...Syracuse could do. Think about it. They could concievably lose a game and their HC on the same day, only to snag an even better HC. Hense, the "2-Loss Win" is born. I LIKE IT!
  • PrinceMarko · 1 year ago
Wow, it must be really hard for West Virginia fans this season. Stewart is really screwing things up there in Morgantown, who would have thought that?? ;)
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
At least they get the satisfaction of seeing what the treasonous Rich Rodriguez is doing to Michigan.
  • Zac · 1 year ago
To be honest, I don't take any pleasure in either. I'll be the 1st to admit, I didn't like the circumstances surrounding Rich Rodriguez having taken the MI job, but I'm neither gonna wish tragedy on the man, nor the MI fans; especially not the MI fans; they don't deserve it.

As for Bill Stewart, one of the nicest guys you ever wanna meet, I was concerned (and expressed said concern on Fanblogs) that his hiring, following WVU's Fiesta Bowl win, was an "emotional" decision made between "good ole boyz". (He and WVU's AD, Ed Pastilong, go way back.) I sincerely believe Bill Stewart would be a valuable asset to any coaching staff. While he has done some good things, especially in recruiting, like Marko, I'm not certain he's HC material.
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Wow. Just wow. That game last night was absurd. On one hand, I like Colorado and always have. It was good to see them looking decent and having success. On the other hand, what the hε‼ was West Virginia doing at the end of the game? That made absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's bad enough that the offense looked predictable, but when they were finally moving the ball, why would you want to just let the clock run out? At first, I was absolutely positive that it was Tommy Bowden moonlighting as the West Virginia coach, as that was the only sensible explanation. Then I realized that he was in Clemson working on a game plan to lose to Maryland in 2 weeks, and I had to accept that there were other completely ridiculous coaching calls being made elsewhere in the country. That was flat out pathetic. Sure, Colorado looks pretty good and they really could have a solid season. That still doesn't change the fact that West Virginia absolutely gave away any chance to win that game.
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Hmm...the "ALT + XXX" characters don't come out right once published. When typed in, they look fine, but once submitted, they change to some garbage. Oh well. Lesson learned.
  • Cobia · 1 year ago
The coach looked confused during the last 15 minutes or so. I think he thought the White called and timeout , because he looked surprised to see the clock rolling down to 4seconds. That being said I think WVU needs to get there act together if they plan on going over .500.
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
Clemson Joe I thought I saw one pass completion for WV. I also saw the Colo D using 3 and sometimes 4 man front against a running team. The clock management was terrible, Why would anyone wast their time and not try to finish the game, they had 3 timeouts left if I'm not mistaken- beats the heck outa me.
  • Zac · 1 year ago
I'm as befuddled & confounded as the rest of you. WVU had the ball on their own 20 with over 2 minutes to play & 2 T.O.'s. It seems as though once they got to the 45 everything went to blazes. It looked to me as though Pat White attempted to call T.O., and Stewart waved him off. Even the guys in calling the game couldn't figure out what they were doing. Just one more thing that contributed to the loss, like going 3-13 on 3rd down and 0-2 on 4th down.

By the way, Tomcat, there was a point in the game where Pat White had completed 3 passes for -3 yards. Yep, that'll get-er done.
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
OK when is the WV is Chump Change thread going to be started?
  • Zac · 1 year ago
It looks like it's already started.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
What's up with WVU? They are certainly hurting our SOS for our trip up there next month...

I have dibbs on the first chump change thread, but I don't know if I have the heart. And as soon as I do it, they clean our clock in Morgantown...
  • Zac · 1 year ago
Oh, come on, man! You know ya wanna. And your boyz on defense are just chompin at the bit to be challenged by WVU's 2 100-yard rushers. The question is this: Will WVU's defense improve enough to keep your all-too-slow-offense from rolling? We just might see another 1-run ball game. Who knows? That one might even go to extra innings.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
No way, Zac. I don't believe in karma, but I certainly believe in coincidences and the law of averages, and I don't tempt either. Keltic Gator from Orange and Blue Hue was the one who stuck his foot in his mouth making those statements 2 weeks before Auburn came down to Gainesville...

Auburn was Chump Change last year after starting the season 1-2, so maybe it's only fair that it's the Eers' turn.

Tell you what, Zac. You write your own WVU is Chump Change thread, email it to me, and I'll post it verbatim. Deal?

You don't want TE writing it, do you?
  • Zac · 1 year ago
Much as I hate to say it, I honestly think TE would do a better job. The challenge is this, however: Instead of writing how this year's Mountaineers, not to mention the Big East, have fallen, howz-about writing how this year's Mountaineers and the Big East can recover and regain respect. The answer is actually quite simple: They have to keep on winning. Sadly, as most of the non-conference slate is out of the way, that means they (those Big East teams willing to battle to the forefront) must beat other Big East teams, which defeats the "keep on winning" mantra.

In short, the only way WVU regains respect is to win from here-on-out. The only way the Big East regains "some" respect is to place at least 5 teams in bowl games against respectable teams and win those bowls. While both are do-able, both are tall, TALL orders to fill. But, who knows? After all, there's still a lotta football left.
  • Bama_DevilDog · 1 year ago
Those Colordo fans where trippin balls, I loved it. It's hard to win in OT in a staduim like that. Just ask WVU kicker. The biggest question I have for the WVU coachs is why not throw the ball down the field. Play action would of tripped the legs from the colordo defense. they were just one demintoanal all night.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Agreed, Bama DD. Truly one demintoanal...
  • Ramblin' Gator · 1 year ago
My doctor gave me a demintoanal a couple weeks ago and I'm STILL walking funny.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Don't give your wife any of those while she's menstruating, RG--anything higher than 10MG of Demintoanal. She might explode!
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
    LMAO
  • Zac · 1 year ago
I'm STILL looking for passes off play-action, like they've been advertising since the spring.
  • reggie reg · 1 year ago
florida state over the deacons is not an upset by far, after all F.S.U owns them in the series..........so wake beating the Seminoles would be an upset.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Anyone thinking that Ohio State might get hammered by Trojans two weeks in a row?

Okay, it was just a thought...

    Go Troy!!!
  • usafcrewchiefb2 · 1 year ago
for the sake of tOSU football program, they need to win...a lose to Troy would throw them way out of the polls and pretty much leave them stranded for the season...

hopin to see georgia over arizona st...love my dawgs!

what about the notre dame vs. michigan st. game?? that should be decent...
  • Mr2Bits · 1 year ago
#3 Georgia at Arizona State - Ga wins 28-17

Boise State at #17 Oregon. Boise upset win 27-24

#18 Wake Forest at #24 FSU. Wake wins 35-29

  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
Don't ya'll have two thread already?
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
    AU 13 LSU 10
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
I want Mr.2Bits to put his two cents in...

    But thanks!
  • Mr2Bits · 1 year ago
    LSU 27 - AU 20
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
    6 for 6, nice picks
  • Mr2Bits · 1 year ago
Thanks. Pretty spot on with my scores minus the kicking contest in Tally
  • GA_Boy · 1 year ago
GA 31 ASU 17. The DAWGS will run the ball, and run the ball, and just when everyone from the ASU bench yells "paaassss", they run the ball again. I see at least 200 yards rushing for the DAWGS.

Troy 24 OSU 21. This one is going to be scary for the Buckeyes. Troy comes to play. In the past few years, they lost by 4 AT LSU, 7 AT FSU, 10 AT Georgia last year. They live for these games and they finally pull one off against a ranked team.

Oregon 35 Boise St 21. No way Oregon loses at home to Boise St.

FSU 21 Wake 17. Wake never gets it going in this one as FSU defense or special teams scores twice.

Utah 42 Air Force 14. Utah shows us that BYU is not the only team that can put up big points. Blowout by the end of the 3rd quarter.

    WEA's required picks:
LSU 14 AU 2. I have AU picked to score the fewest points in the Fanblogs pickem. Trying to be consistent.
Gators 35 Vols 14. Tebow picks apart that Vol secondary, which is pretty good by the way. But FLA O is just unstoppable and the Vols O has no chance of scoring at the same pace.

    GO DAWGS!
  • 1Tomcat · 1 year ago
I thought BU did purty good on the road, but they didnt get the W. UConn's D was really good against the run and the BU O-Line wasnt given the QB Griffin much time, seemed like he was always in a bind, and as a result made some hurried mistakes. Overall the BU team played hard and really could have won the game. The Refs made alot of bad calls both ways- so that was a wash IMHO. UConn Huskies got the win at home- close evenly matched game.
Coach Briles has alot to work with and the Mighty Bears should only improve as a team.
    Sicem-Bears
  • Zac · 1 year ago
Yo, Tomcat! Say what you want, they're not getting the "W" and all, but that was still one hell of an effort against one of the better Big East teams, and on the road, no less. Baylor's QB, Robert Griffin is for fat-friggen real. The best part is he'll be there 3 MORE SEASONS! The Bears bare watching, otherwise how will ya know wat's bruin. Seriously though, I think they have a lot to build upon and their future looks real good right now.
  • Tommie_Trojan · 1 year ago
    Tomcat:

I'm ridin' Baylor all the way right now. They were 13 point dogs against Conn. Couldn't believe it. Nobody's on this team right now. It's money in the back. The RB Finley looks real good also. Those ref's were pathetic. But, it seemed they were equally bad against both teams. I'm lovin' Baylor right now.
  • GA_Boy · 1 year ago
OK. Maybe Oregon can lose at home to Boise St. Maybe BYU is the only team MWC that can score a ton of points. Troy gave it a shot but as usual came up short late in the game. What the hell is up with TN? I just tried to call my hillbilly buddy and he changed his ringtone from Rocky Top to the Gator Chomp. Unbelievable.

    GO DAWGS!
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 1 year ago
I don't see any upsets here.

    Georgia
    OSU
    Boise
    FSU
    UTAH

Nice analysis Ben. You were four of five. WTG Wake!
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Did you go to the Wofford game yesterday? I'm curious as to what happened. I've talked to one person who was there but they couldn't offer much information. It seems they were more than 3 sheets to the wind at the time.
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 1 year ago
No, I worked. Had to rely on the wife for updates. Here's my hunches:
A.) Every team has been inspired by Appalachian. The big schools can expect the little schools to be fired up, and to play with emotion.
B.) In this instance, the big school was not fired up. They ended up playing, "not to lose".
C.) We still do not have a QB that is performing at the level of Mr. Spurrier's expectations.
D.) Mr. Spurrier will keep trying QB's and will get the one he is looking for eventually, it could take years. It could happen with Garcia this weekend. I don't know, Mr. Spurrier does not know. He will not know until he looks at game performance.
E.) Mr. Spurrier will keep at it. He will eventually find a kid he can coach up to excellence. That will be the start of an offense that will go to the next level.
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Appalachian State did inspire a lot of teams, but this is the same thing that South Carolina did in 2006 when they beat Wofford 27-20. Wofford has obviously not needed much inspiration from anyone else. South Carolina had to know that they'd be ready to play this time.

I just wish I could've seen it to see what exactly happened. At Kentucky and at Mississippi are going to be interesting.
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 1 year ago
It is every Big school coaches problem. How do I motivated these highly touted recruits, they all know none of their opponents were offered a scholly here. Or at any other name school. We are big and bad, we gonna murderlate these guys without half trying. That half trying bit, can get any team beaten..
