Fanblogs.com: Petrino to be coach for life at Arkansas?

  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 12 months ago
Auburn will take the blame for this fiasco. Sorry... Would it help if you knew that overtures were extended to Petrino just out of spite to Tuberville? Probably not...

And before the Nutt thread shows up, we'll take the blame for his big bump, too... Mea culpa on all counts...

This isn't a renegotiation... this is his original ticket. Or at least I presume it is the original, as I don't think a Freedom of Information Act would trickle out so quickly on a recent revision. That stuff usually takes a month or more for discovery.

    Link isn't working...

What about that special buyout provision if he tried to jump to another SEC west school? They might have written that out of a new deal if they just unilaterally bumped the buyout to eight mil plus...

yeah, I think a couple of us killed their whole site.

lol exactly! As a longtime Arkansas fan, i know exactly where Ole Miss will be in the next couple of years with Houston Nutt recruits, The bottom of the SEC west. All I can say is, Ole Miss fans better enjoy last year, and this year because its only gets worse from here. Ole Miss may very well beat Arkansas this year, but i can assure you, Bobby Petrino will dominate Houston Nutt in the years to come!

"Petrino is all but assured to be the Razorbacks head coach for years to come. It would cost UA too much to fire him and no one is going to pony up a multi-million check to steal him away."

    Don't be so sure.

On ESPN radio, Terry Bowden, addressing the Tubby/Auburn situation last week, explained that the current large buyouts in contracts was initially looked upon as security for and by the coaches. The logic was that no school would be willing to put up large sums of money in order to release a coach. As we've seen, that is not true any longer. The attitude has changed, and the ante has been increased.

I suspect that if Petrino doesn't produce in a few years, and the fans (donors) get restless, we'll see him on the market regardless of this new buyout agreement.

The Hogs started off purty good then had some of the toughest competition against top 5 opponents in consecutive weeks Bama,Texas and Florida.
They've done spent the money now and they will be alright Petrino is not going anywhere anytime soon.

After what this SOB did to the Falcons, Arkansas can keep him. In fact, the Atlanta Falcons are doing well without him. He must be a terrible coach. Go DAWGS. Stop razorbacks!!!

screw the falcons, who the hell cares about them...nick saban sucked with miami, yet he has alabama back this year. petrino went to atlanta to coach vick, but that loser thought it would be more fun to fight dogs than to actually try to be an nfl qb...he had no qb, tell me you would have just stayed there and gotten fired??? whatever...

Rich Rodriguez had found his home, his dream job, a place where he'd be a long, long, long time. Now, look where he is. R U think'n that can't happen to Petrino, should he prove sucessful at Arkansas? MI picked up $2.75 M of Rodriguez's buy-out. The remaining $1.25 M is to be paid to WVU by Rodriguez over 2 years. How on earth is that poor boy gonna manage that on his salary? (Which is a cool $2.5 M, by the way.)

That said, Petrino is making $2.8 M at AR. So, why would he wanna leave? Heck, he could bring down that salary over the next 3 years, have a couple bad losing seasons, and retire on that buy-out clause alone. Wata gimick. Wata country!
