"Playoff" is a forbidden word here until the Offseason. I have a whole Folder.

TBH, though, I don't think D-2 teams are allowed in Bowl Games, but I could be mistaken.

Kev, you have the rules on D-2 teams?

Regan, there are some pretty good 8+ D-2 teams out there, which wouldn't mind a crack at a couple of 6-6, 7-5, or even 8-4 D-2 teams in a bowl. Why shouldn't the bowl committees give them a shot? Some will be eliminated during the 1st round of their play-off and could be available for one more game.

Yes, but I am thinking about writing a program to sort it out using Peter Wolfe's online data files during the off season, at least up to head to head.

Having practiced manually for the last few years I have the methodology down.

All three would be 6-2 in the Big 12. The first Tiebreaker is head to head among the four teams.

Texas and Texas Tech would be 2-1 while Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would be 1-2.

Texas Tech's victory over Texas would then break the two way tie.

It is impossible to get past head to head with a complete graph of an even number of teams, as each would have played an odd number of games.

Ben, In your Big 12 south scenarios, how do you figure Tx Tech goes if Ok, Tx Tech and TX lose next week? That would be a 4 way tie for 1st with OK, OK state, Tx and TX Tech all with 2 losses. All those losses are against Big 12 south, all have 10-2 records. The way I interpret the tiebreaker rules you would compare all 4 against the 5th place team (Baylor, by virtue of their win over A&M). That would eliminate Tx Tech. Then you compare the remaining 3 against A&M. That would eliminate TX. Then you do the head to head winner of OK and OK state, so OK state would go.

I know that is against what is posted at http://www.big12sports.com/..., but that's the way I read the rules

Side note - If anyone out there is really mad at the increasing number of Bowl Games, pull for no more than 4 teams that are "on the bubble" to become Bowl Eligible.

There are 34x Bowl games, and right now there are 63 eligible teams. If there are less than 68 eligible teams, one Bowl Game will have to be cancelled, which has never happened before and would put a dent in the willingness to have low-tier Bowl Games.

Personally, I like them just fine (I say let the kids have fun and play; it doesn't hurt anyone and it's something fun for the kids and fans); however, many of you would like for the Bowl System to get a little egg on it's face....

Just lettin' ya know...
