Too true, very hard to argue with tradition & success, let alone traditional success. Then again, they used to say the same about teams like AL, FSU, Miami, NE, & ND, and look where they are now.

While we're wondering what's happened to them, I wonder if MI could have beaten GA in Atlanta 3 years ago. I would have bet on them against GA Tech 2 years ago, but I don't think they would have touched OK last year, despite how good they looked against FL. You can throw all of the slights around at West Virginians as you please. You can't take away from them what their team has accomplished over the last 5 years, even if RR was the coach.

Of course it follows one can't hide from the failures either, such as WVU's loss to Pitt, or MI's loss to a much smaller school from a much smaller town, located in hills similar to those of WV, only located in the lower Appalachian's of northwest NC (a loss I defended, by the way). Still it must have been tough for a proud flatlander, like yourself (up there on dry land, where they prefer to use the vowels God gave them, wear shoes that cover their feet as if they were actually civilized, and marry people they claim they DIDN'T meet at a family reunion) to watch his team lose to a team of folk who apparently do otherwise. Now, WVU has one of their coaches, and I suppose we have MI to thank for it.

As for Pat White fumbling it away, yeah, he gave a few away last year, and a few too many in one sitting cost him and the team. Funny, neither he nor Coach Stewart did so against OK, and Stewart managed to hold on to the lion's share of Rich Rod's recruiting class. Of course, that may have had something to do with Coach Stewart being Rich Rod's recruiting coordinator.

So, in effect, MI & WVU got what they wanted. WVU has a man who has proven himself in the big game, during the worst of times. WVU has their $4 M. WVU even has one of the best recruiting classes they've had in a long time. They'll be just fine, even after Pat White has left. And MI, well, they have Les. . ., I mean Rich Mile. . .ahem, I mean. . .MI has a new coach too. Enjoy!!!

Last I heard, "cowtown" referred to towns of the SW, like TX. WV is not only no where near there, it's east of the Mississippi River; in fact, it's east of the Ohio River, nestled deep in the Appalachian Mountains. That tharz hill country, flatlander. And, don't you forget it. While you're into remembering geography, try a little history on for size. Rich Rodriguez's 1st year with WVU: 3-8. Go Blue!!!

C-Dogg, to someone outside of WV, this has probably gotten old fast. I don't blame you. Now, I'll tell ya why I'm tired of hearing (reading actually) "...move on...Let it go." sentiments. West Virginians are responsible for maybe 20% of this media circus. Most of the news has come out of Ann Arbor or else-where. There was even an article written by some bastage in Houston. AND, in case you didn't notice, it wasn't a West Virginian who posted this thread. Believe me; I have no doubt West Virginians want to move on. It's the rest of the world that's dragging this out.

I think you're off base, all the way around...

Michigan came off terrible, and Rodriguez's allegations that he offered "jobs for testimony" friendly to his case, was just one of many credibility eroding issues for him.

The bottom line is, neither side wanted to pay up, and ultimately, Rich-Rod is going to pony up, as well he should. Michigan backed the wrong horse, and it'll cost them dos million, as well...

But it's silly for you to say that WV can't retain top flight coaches...He had just spurned Alabama for ridiculous kwan the year prior to this offseason. So, it's not all about the money, as evidenced by his rejection of Tuscaloosa last year, and his agreement to take over the reigns in Ann Arbor.

Les Miles is making 3.45 million a year...and he almost left for Michigan, if not for Herbstreit's dumb(or was he really smart, in all honesty?)arse...

Would that mean that we don't have the financial and tangible resources necessary to lure or keep good coaches?

That's what I thought...

Seriously? Rodriguez has NO allegiance to anyone other than himself...He took a job at one of the Top 5 schools in the country...he's the only game in town among the major sports at the school.

If you didn't hold that same opinion of Rodriguez prior to him flirting with Alabama the year before, its a tad hypocritical for you to hold it now, just because he finally left this time...

WVU is looking out for it's best interests. Not letting RR walk without fulfilling his contract is striclty business and smart of the university. RR was hoping that WVU would look away.

On another related note...has anyone heard the rumor I've been hearing that RR got a WVU cheerleader pregnant??? This would definately be a reason to split in a hurry like he did. Again, right now I take it as grapevine

Well I was thinking of joining the Blue Lot for the tailgate but there may be some cahnges happening this year. Something about the University making that area off limits now or charging a buttload extra to hold it there? I'll have to get more details as the season gets nearer. I had never joined my Rivals buddies before but had planned to this season and now this happens.....Me the wifey and family usually mix it up by eating at different restaurants each time we make it to a game, then we mingle in the parking lot the mass of fans before going to our seats.

However, I disagree that WVU accepted Michigan's purported superiority. Michigan/RRod blinked, because WVU called their bluff--plain & simple. Make no mistake--they were going to lose the case had it gone to fruition; no doubt about it. Plus atty fees & costs, and the embarrassment of the dirt kicked up by discovery (that's why they settled WHEN they did). They had no case--and those "WV hillbillies" didn't fall for big bad Blue's bullsh*t bluff....they saw right through it.

Turns out they're actually educating folks up there in MoTown, and those arrogant snobs from Ann Arbor got sent pack'n with their tails tucked neatly between their legs--and a whole lotta' egg on their face.

diggs, war eagle, mcateer where is everyone going to be pregaming for this game? i'll probably go to "the pit" with my student id. they don't have a date on them so i assume there is no way they wouldn't let me in. if anyone wants in as a guest let me know (although i don't recommend it for war eagle less you like to take on a challenge).
