Been to alot of them , I really liked the tailgate at Alamo Bowl - San Antonio, Texas vs Iowa the crowd was still primarily Burnt Orange, but the Hawkeyes had a good showing and everybody got along and people were very respectful on both sides, Shiner draft-purty cool. I got to meet some Iowa fans and some players families, nice folks. I can just imagine that Neb vs Mich was probably purty cool too.
Baylor Waco Texas is purty lame but, is not as lame as it used to be. Georges Bar had a big tent with T.V.s and a cash bar right across the street from Floyd Casy stadium-The fans all got free hotdogs from the worlds biggest BBQ pit sponsered by Earl Cambell's sausage & Mrs.Bairds bread. I was kinda surprized at a Baptist school -margaritas, beer and hotdogs what the heck.

For me, travel comes in waves and lately I've been on a tsunami. I've been at home 5 days in the last 6 weeks, ending today. I'll be home for the next 5 weeks other than 3 days in DC.

What is the view like from the tailgate outside of the stadium? Link it up if you can find any pictures. I'd love to see them.

I have some great pictures of the view from Death Valley from last year's Wake Forest game. I might have to post them somewhere so I can show you.

There are quite a few posts with people ripping on other school's tailgates. Why would you do it? I don't know, but you wouldn't be the only one.

I have no problem accepting that you don't need to tailgate next to the stadium to have a good time. My favorite place to tailgate at Clemson isn't beside the stadium. It's actually in a grassy area beside a creek that comes off of Hartwell Lake.

I don't remember why I thought you were a VT fan. However, ripping on them doesn't really exclude you since I will freely rip on Clemson when it's deserved. Sometimes the harshest critics are the ones who are the closest to it.

Believe it or not the view is almost the exact same as it is in all the NCAA games. If you're down close to the field than all you're going to see is the stadium but that is the case for just about all enclosed stadiums. Now if you're in the upper deck then you can see off in the distance. You'll also love the drive into morgantown as well as it really doesn't matter which direction you come from you're going to winding through mountain roads with awesome views to get to the stadium. trying to find a good pic from the stadium looking out but i can't find any i might have to step up and go through some of my pictures.

It still means the same thing. You're not old for thinking that. Somehow somewhere along the line people managed to make the term acceptable in normal speak by associating it with tossing bean bags in a sloped hole. Go figure.

Dude the title of the thread is BEST Tailgating Experience - why would I rip on anyone's tailgate? Just accept the fact that some people don't need to park next to the stadium to have an awesome tailgating experience.

And I don't see how you think I'm a VT fan, especially since I ripped them on the "10 games...ACC" thread.

Although I am not a big, Big Ten fan I would say Wisconsin hands down has the best tailgating. In the SEC I would give it to Ole Miss or LSU, although Auburn is a lot of fun as well.

Actually I spent about a month in SLC and loved it. I went to the campus of U of U quite a few times and enjoyed the visit. I just didn't get to see a game there. I would love to go to the Holy War, and I'd have to wear red so I could drink. Of course, I guess I could wear blue and drink like a fish. That would probably turn a few heads. Either way, I'd love the chance to get back out there and see a game this time.

If your into mountain view and relaxed drinking before games you might like a Utah tailgate. Not too rowdy, though I hear it may be picking up a little since I left.

Hard to beat the mountains though. The foot of a 7000 foot peak is half a mile from the stadium.

I'd like to take that back. If you meant it as a compliment then I apologize. I did not take it that way because it doesn't sound like a good experience at all to me. If you get the chance you should come back, like I said, and get in the middle of it all. There are quite a few lots that are a great time. Most people are pretty receptive and will be good hosts. Don't come if South Carolina is in town though. Terrible fans come out of the woodwork on both sides of that one, and it's not much fun to be around.

I've never been to a game at Maryland, but while tailgating with some of their fans a few years back, they had so many great things to say about their tailgating. They told us to come up and eat oysters and clam chowder with them before the game.

I'm glad you shed some light on it for me though. I will skip that trip now that I know better. I have always thought that clam chowder at a tailgate sounded a little strange to me anyway.

Also, since Ben brought it up, I am very partial to mountains. How is the view around the stadium? I've always heard that Morgantown is a good time, and I wouldn't mind checking it out. If there is a good view, I'd like it even more.

Quite similar to Athens in a lot of ways, huh? Yeah the scenery is certainly not all green. I think Clemson's "candy" is some of the best, but I didn't want to get into that discussion so I didn't bring it up. I have to admit that some of the "fairer" ones in Athens were quite aesthetically pleasing as well. I'll certainly be making the trip in a few years when we play again. By that point, I'll have been married for quite a few years, and will probably appreciate the collegiate sightseeing that much more.

What? I wouldn't consider that a compliment at all. I am well aware that you're not a Clemson fan, and I'm assuming you are a VT fan. I don't mean to run you off. Come back for a game sometime. Next time though, seriously, get there early if you can. If you can put yourself in the middle of all of it (as opposed to the outer reaches) you'll have a better time.
