Fanblogs.com: Spurrier Banned from Recruiting Atlanta Area High School

  • Skip1 · 10 months ago
"Participating on the sidelines of the SEC championship game ever again..."

No need to place a ban on that, it's never going to happen anyway!

    #8, nice....

a 5'7",205 lb linebacker Love to see what ovular shape this guy looks like. Im thinking he has the body of Mimi, thats why his offer was lifted
  • Ben Prather · 10 months ago
I was just enjoying the jab as Spurriers stellar NFL career.
  • TigerEducated · 10 months ago
His offer was pulled because he was offered initially by their DB Coach, Ron Cooper.

Who is now LSU's DB Coach. He has a size 16 feet, and between that and hand measurements, the projections are that he is nowhere near done growing.

But, Spurrier did not want him, and evidently, neither does anyone else at South Carolina.

However, Georgia Tech & other teams in that area have routinely done that sort of thing before. I think its just piling on South Carolina, and taking a shot now that Cooper's gone, whom he obviously had a relationship with.

Who has size 16 feet, the player or the coach?

Yea, that 5'7" height really gets your attention. Maybe he's the Spud Webb of linebackers, though...
  • Mr2Bits · 10 months ago
Rivals has him at 5'9'', guess thats the lowest their height drop down menu goes on their UI

    http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr...

They don't list anything about foot size but I bet TE is licking his lips thinking about a pair that large. You know the whole big feet = big socks saying
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 10 months ago
Oh no. Now you've done it!
  • badgerballer · 10 months ago
Not all 17/18 year olds who are 5'7, stay, 5'7. If a kid had all the other gifts and attributes necessary to play at the college level - a wiley coach might be willing to roll the bones that he ultimately ends up 5'10 before his college career ends.

  • achillesOSU · 10 months ago

  • U.of S.C.1978 · 10 months ago
We would, but he's got nothing either.

Are you talking about Smelley leaving? What's up with that? I understand he wants to play baseball now and might transfer to Alabama--he's from Tuscaloosa originally, I believe...

I bet Spurrier wishes he had Terry Dean now...
  • Bama_Babe · 10 months ago
The word here is he's already transferred. He'll most likely have a chance to start right away in baseball. He might sit out a year before putting on the football pads, but I don't see him playing. I think the move is primarily for baseball....that, and the fact that he grew up here in Tuscaloosa. Brother Brad has shown real potential this year as a freshman tight end.

I'll be rooting for Chris ;)

BB, would you date a guy named Smelley? Even better, if you married said guy, would you take his name?

You wouldn't want to be Haley Smelley. Would ya?

    :-)
  • OU_Ron · 10 months ago
Haley Smelley's ok, wouldn't want to be named Fanny though....
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 10 months ago
    hahaha!!
  • Bama_Babe · 10 months ago
    That's a good one!

But the name Fanny is enough humiliation by itself...
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 10 months ago
    Fannie Flagg was from Alabama...

I don't think that was her real name though...
  • OU_Ron · 10 months ago
I agree somewhat, but if Marisa Miller's name was Fanny Miller, it wouldn't change my opinion of her one little bit...;-)
  • Bama_Babe · 10 months ago
...And ya'll used to make fun of my wink/smiley. Says alot for one symbol doesn't it! ;)

I just liked to look at him on the sidelines of SC games. I was already planning on attending many baseball games this spring, but now I guess I'll have something else to look forward too...

Seriously though - that name does kind of stink though.
I'm just glad you used my first name in there with it.....wouldn't want you to start calling me Smelley Bama Babe...
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 10 months ago
Wasn't, but will. He wants to try to catch a ball at Bama, Throwing one wasn't working out too well. At any rate, he is eligible this year for baseball at Bama, (2010 he could try football there). A quote from Mr. Spurrier on the situation,
“I understand that football wasn’t going as well as he’d hoped. And he is a good baseball player,” Spurrier said. “At one time he thought about trying to play both here, but it was just too time constraining. So we wish him the best. He’s a good kid (with) good character, integrity.”

Hey WEA, what about that store that gave the Seminoles those Free Shoes?

Did they ban him too? :)
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 10 months ago
From shopping at Payless, Nine West, and Direct Shoe Warehouse? Yes.
