Fanblogs.com: Tennessee Lands Soft-Commit from 8th Grader

  • NMLSooner · 5 months ago
My 5 yr old is taller than most 6th yr olds...so I think he's ready to commit to OU. My one yr old eats dog food if I don't watch him in his grandpa's backyard closely, so obviously he'll be a Div. 1 DT. Right?

See this is why we need an early signing period. This kid has made his decision so lets sign his name to the dotted line. He is going to UT and that scholorship is his. No matter if he stinks as a student or as an athlete that scholorship is his. Sorry UT now you have 27 for 2014.

I think the SEC coaches need to start recruiting at Peewee Football practices heck why not just start at punt pass and kick. Careful of those NCAA rules though...Sir I am sorry this child is 6 years old and if you buy him a snowcone you are in violation of the booster rule, and happy meals will get you a 3 year probabtion. GIVE ME A BREAK!

Why in the world someone in the Atlanta Constipation thought this was news worthy was beyond me. Good job WEA I agree with you why is this a news story!

You keep an eye on those prospects in Bamaham for us! I'm combing the metro Atlanta middle schools.

    Eeew. That sounded creepy...

I don't understand why anyone is getting riled up about this. Today in age, a commitment means nothing. This is just a 'neat' headline...

One more excuse to keep Kiffey on the front page. I'm looking forward to the day when I come home, turn on ESPN, and hear this...

Lane Kiffen did absolutely nothing controversial today intended to draw attention to himself. Film at 11

    ;-)

    I agree wholeheartedly...

    B) Move towards the dark side

    C) The point of no return

    D) Just the beginning

I see his stuff over at EDSBS. Does he do stuff for a LSU blog, too?
  • TigerEducated · 5 months ago

    Great stuff TE thanks

Thanks WEA Kiffin wants to stay alive in the media, If his team doesn't produce these kinds of distractions will help with his status as a man of character. One question Whats next? acusing championship coaches of cheating? taking off shirts in the lockeroom?
  • Mr2Bits · 5 months ago
I guess Kiffin is turning into the next Michael Jackson going after the little boys and all. Do you think they spooned after the 13 year old gave an oral commitment? Guess Knoxville is the new Neverland ranch.

    Nice work Vols

If you'll remember, the father of CJ and Chris Leak would only talk to schools seriously about CJ if they offered Chris who was then either early HS or late middle school.

Lou Holtz was reported as agreeing to it at S. Carolina and presumably Jim Caldwell went along with it too. CJ had a Clemson player sack him and break his leg in the process and ended up leaving Wake and Chris wound up in Gainesville.

I don't think there's any quid pro quo going on here, but I do think it goes on. Wasn't Florida rumored to have offered someone's girlfriend an athletic schollie if he signed? Was that Joiner?

Anyone know if any legacy type scholarships exist? Schollies given out to children of prominent ex-players, whether deserved or not?

A friend of mine was offered preferred walk-on status at SC back in the early 80s. His dad was a starting QB in the 50s. He turned it down. I imagine that's the way it is if the person isn't talented enough or they don't have enough scholarships to give.
  • fosterkeats · 5 months ago
We CANNOT take this seriously, let it go... the only reason he did it is b/c of his dad and brother...

If some 7th grader in Plano, Tx told some reporter that he was committing to Texas, no one would care... we'll see if this kid is any good in a few years.

College Football Recruiting is getting unbearable...

I cannot wait until Tennessee gets rocked by Florida maybe Evan will commit to UF
