Fanblogs.com: Tennessee plane not sent for visit with Cutcliffe?

  • Big B · 1 year ago
No way Fulmer is gone this year. Much as he might deserve it, they stupidly gave him an extension last year. Not even 12 months removed from the extension, the buyout is way more than UT alum want to pay to get rid of him. That said, I could see them doing the "Coach of the Future" pitch to get Cutcliffe back to Knoxville similar to Jimbo Fisher at FSU. And if the plan was to have Fulmer coach a few more years and then the guaranteed handoff to Cutcliffe, that might be in the works.

    I hadn't considered that "coach-in-waiting" scenario.

Big B, why would Cutcliffe want to come back and play second fiddle to Fulmer? Every UT alum and booster would love to have him as the head coach so he should just wait it out if he wants the job. When they get rid of Phil they will come a courtin like Ernest T.

I think the suggestion has been that Fulmer is out, Cutcliffe would be in.

LMAO -- sorry but no thanks. We don't want Coach Cut back. Duke has a good coach there and they need to keep him. We've had enough of him.

If Coach Fulmer leaves, we want someone from the new generation of winners in college football, not yesterday's newspapers.

To be honest i wouldnt be surprised if Tenn. got rid of Fulmer. Nebraska canned Frank Solich after a 9-3 season.

Another thought (sent via twitter): they better stay away from O'Brien

But he hasn't really done much with NCSU since he's been there; a yardstick could be used with Davis at UNC...or is one of the cases where you know something I don't?

I 've got to think that Phat Phil is gone. We' ll see after the 'Bama game.

It isn't Hamilton's decision to make ....decisions of that caliber are left to the Haslam's and Thornton's of the UT world.....I kinda don't want to see him go though, we kind of like not having a rivalry with UT ;)

My opinion on Mr. Fulmer and has done a 180. I currently believe the Vols should do a Clemson on Mr. Fulmer, I'm thinking the Cocks can pick up another good recruit or two, if this happens. So sorry to throw you under the bus Mr. Fulmer, but we are talking top recruits here.

Who will eat the Little Debbie Snacks if Phat Phill leaves?

This is vital to the econmy of Knoxville.

Phil stays untill fatter tattle telling coaches are available.

Magino should start talkin s*** about Bama.

I wonder if they simply allow Fulmer to 'retire' at the end of the year?

I think if a plane, carrying a search party, was heading towards North Carolina in search of a coach, they would be looking for Butch Davis.

No way, he has done too much there to let go so soon, he will get a chance to get things back on track.
