Fanblogs.com: The Big One: Oklahoma - Florida

  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
How is Oklahoma's Kick coverage rank per kick?

Also, saying the winner of this game will score mroe than 34 points is not really going against the grain. I think the Loser will score this much too, though Oklahoma may hold Florida to less.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
OU ranks #105 in kick coverage.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
    [deleted for inaccuracy]

The NCAA standings are done by return. My bad.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
OU allows 24.1 yards per kickoff return - 105th
  • gator50 · 11 months ago
Looks like the big garbage (12) has fallen prey to a real college football team. For anybody to actually believe OU stood a chance against Florida is just plain crazy. Bradford stood in the pocket all day against big 12 lackluster defenses and threw the ball around like a high school senior against 2nd graders and produced results. He wont cut it in the NFL.
  • balderdash · 11 months ago
No one stays on top forever so you need to be more conservative with your comments. Saint (mr. Christian loveydovey, do everything right, I'm the best of everything)Tebow, blessed his team with a 15 yard penalty for taunting - and , oh yah, almost forgot, - dropped the F-BOMB with the camera in his face on National TV. Not such a great Christian role model, huh Mom and Dad and pre game/game announcers? ST. Timmy isn't at all what he's touted to be. The team he goes to will eat him for breakfast, lunch and dinner his first year. hehe.
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
Just heard Bradford is headed to the NFL. Guess he is real focussed for this game.
  • OU_Ron · 11 months ago
Message board news, we all know how reliable those things are ;-)
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
No, just announced on sports radio.
  • OU_Ron · 11 months ago
I think they said Stafford instead of Bradford, Georgia's Stafford today said he was going out, maybe ???
  • Ramblin' Gator · 11 months ago
Stafford and Moreno are definitely heading to the NFL, per their announcement today. There seem to be some whispers about Bradford though nothing definitive.
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
Definately Bradford as they discussed how this could impact his play tomm night.
  • OU_Ron · 11 months ago
Not saying you're wrong, just no word of it here in Oklahoma...we should get electricty here any day now....
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
Key + Kite + big storm and you're good to go.
  • AUtigerman · 11 months ago
Well this may help but it does seem to be some speculation at this point http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/2009/01/sou...
  • OU_Ron · 11 months ago
I think he probably will, it would be very hard to turn down that kind of money....
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
I've yet to hear a peep re: Bradford, just Stafford as far as QBs go. I do think Bradford will announce... and probably Tebow, Spikes & Harvin.
  • Ramblin' Gator · 11 months ago
    Peep...

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/...

I imagine you're right about Spikes and Harvin, though I'm guessing Tebow will stay as UF has a new quarterbacks coach coming in with a track record for prepping NFL QBs.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 11 months ago
Yeah... exactly. Bradford has not yet declared, just Mr.2 Bits suggesting that he is not focusing on the game.
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
No joke this was announced on sports radio here in Tampa from the host.

I'm waiting for it to hit the headlines as well.

Tebow will stay. Harvin and Spikes are seeing green and are gone to the NFL.
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
    UF wins 48-24...EZPZ
  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
Florida wins another MNC by a wide margin, because Oklahoma hasn't faced a tough D in the Big 12 all year, as evidenced in a few bowl games this year. As for the score, since I'm not a soothsayer, I'll go with some numbers that I remember all too well, unfortunately.

    UF 41
    OU 14
  • Bevo_Boy · 11 months ago
That score looks oddly familiar for Florida lol.
  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
Heh, heh, heh...yeah. I'm glad you caught that reference.
  • Hotty_Toddy · 11 months ago
I got Florida by 13 points, 53-40. And don't be surprised if it gets surprisingly close to that... because I predicted Ole Miss beating TTech by 10....
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
Any prediction with OU under 35 points is ridiculous.
  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
That's what everyone thought about Utah winning their bowl game. Except Utah fans, of course.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
Which Sugar Bowl team could score 35 on TCU? I don't that know anyone but Oklahoma could.
  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
You're right. You don't know. Nobody will ever know. And TCU has nothing to do with pulling scores for OU/UF out of thin air for fun.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
TCU has the best defense in the land. Rushing, passing points, however you want to measure it. they held Boise State to 16 points, BOISE! Only one other team got over 14 points on them.

If you thought Utah's defense looked it is only because you did not see TCU.

Oklahoma scores 35 on them. They can score 35 on anyone.
  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
TCU and Boise State? Y-a-a-w-w-n. Again, that has nothing to do with the game tomorrow night. And if you think OU will score 35 on Florida, whatever floats your boat.

I have no idea what the score will be. Did you actually pay attention to the score I wrote and what the significance might be? Bevo_Boy figured it out.
  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
Let me guess. TCU would've held Oklahoma to -35 points? Yes, negative, dripping with sarcasm. LOL!

    ;-)
  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
What do you think of any prediction under 35 now?
  • GeauxTigers0107 · 11 months ago
I'm gonna stick my neck out and say the winner will probably outscore the other team and if it goes to overtime, it definitely favors one of them.

    Seriously, I say:
    Florida 41
Oklahoma 38 (with their kicker missing a 46yrd field goal to send it to overtime...oh...and he misses it to the right by 3ft 8in's)

    Geaux Tigers

  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
That's your best Lou Holtz impression? I've seen a lot better. :-)
  • GeauxTigers0107 · 11 months ago
LOL. I'll go ahead and take that as an insult. Just because I have my oatmeal through a straw like Lou DOES NOT deserve an association with Captain Dimensia.

    Bevo:
To the right man....the right. Read in the parenthesis...lol.

  • Tom_Blogical · 11 months ago
LOL, not an insult at all! Your first two sentences just sounded like one of those jokes he'd tell...
  • GeauxTigers0107 · 11 months ago

After what Utah did to Alabama, Florida losing to Ole' Miss and then struggling past Alabama, USC killing Penn State, Texas whoopin Oklahoma, the two best teams aren't even in the BCS National Championship game.
At least one of the two teams got a free pass to Miami.
    Oklahoma 45. Florida 35
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
You forgot to comment on Texas barely squeaking by Ohio State
  • OU_Ron · 11 months ago
    And Texas Tech 39-33
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
good point, that's the gut punch right there.
  • cadillac10 · 11 months ago
You're right. It should be a matchup like Ole Miss vs Utah or in your biasness Texas vs USC...WRONG! Don't fight it. Just grab some hot wings and watch a great game. Gators 44 Oklahoma 41!! Keep it in the SEC, and yes I am bias as well. The only thing we should bitch about is the fact that they prolonged the NC too long. I mean sticking that Oh! so great GMAC bowl at the end before the NC is just ridiculous.

    GO GATORS!!!
  • Bama_Babe · 11 months ago
I think the key to this game, besides the ones listed above, will be Oklahoma's 3rd down defense. Florida clearly beat Alabama by their 3rd down conversions ( 3-for-3 on 3rd and goal). So that alone was the difference in the game. OK's D will be very capable of getting Tebow and Co. to 3rd down situations, they just cannot let them convert.

I think this is going to be the best NC game since '05. Can't wait. I'm really not a fan of Urban Meyer - at all - or Florida for that matter. So I'm having a hard time convincing myself to root for them. Plus, ever since my trip to Norman earlier this decade when Bama played out there, I've found myself cheering for the Sooners. We'll just put it this way: If Florida wins, great for the SEC. If Oklahoma wins, I won't be upset or lose any sleep over it. ;)

    Oklahoma 38
    Florida 34
  • Tom22 · 11 months ago
We got about 5 teams that are looking stong enough that they'd probably be pretty even odds [

Who'd they each least like to play? Probably Florida and Oklahoma.

So let those two play for the cup. I'll still be curious about how the others would have faired.
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
I think in Utah's case those would be the teams they would most like to play, but its the same arguement.

Though USC might have its appeal for another reason.
  • TigerEducated · 11 months ago
Florida wins, going away. Big Game Bob strikes again...
  • OU_Ron · 11 months ago
You change your mind faster than the Oklahoma weather, at the start of the season, you said " you heard from me first Oklahoma will win the NCG " or something close to that....I'm sure if we look hard enough, we can find it......but that's ok TE, I've got enough faith for both of us..
  • TigerEducated · 11 months ago
I also would've told you that a 5-loss LSU season was crazy-talk, as well...

    Things change, Ron...
  • Bevo_Boy · 11 months ago

    Talk to ya'll tomorrow...
  • thebuckstopshere · 11 months ago
Neither team breaks 30, Gators make it look closer than it was at the end with a late score.

    OU 28
    FL 20
  • TigerEducated · 11 months ago
    Huh?
  • thebuckstopshere · 11 months ago
Everyone else contradicts themselves on here, I don't like feeling left out.
  • Wardboy3 · 11 months ago
Just when I thought you where giving an against the grain prediction to catch my eye you follow up with FLA winning big.

So I see you are going both ways. Typically I only like women who go both ways.
  • thebuckstopshere · 11 months ago
    LMAO!!!

    Just covering all the angles........

Typically? I wouldn't settle for anything less when it comes to my woman.
  • Wardboy3 · 11 months ago
    You almost had it right.
  • thebuckstopshere · 11 months ago
This one will be high scoring affair but the Gators pull away in the 4th to put it way out of reach.

    FL 52
    OU 34
  • TigerEducated · 11 months ago
Which one of these is correct?
  • thebuckstopshere · 11 months ago
Well I'm trying the Nostradamus approach, so we will have to wait and see.

I did mix it up a bit though, in a low scoring game I gave the edge to OU when popular belief says otherwise. And if no ones D shows up the edge goes to FL.
  • bulgey · 11 months ago
Gators will win 31 21, Sam goes pro tonight

I'll be happy if the OU offense runs the ball less than 10 times the entire game.
  • Mr2Bits · 11 months ago
I was WAYYYY off on my 4.5-5 point favorite on UF.

8 Hours from gametime and UF is already a 6 point favorite. Spread has moved 2.5 points in 2 days and the big money hasn't even come in yet. Could UF be an 8 point favorite by kickoff?
  • BamaBorn · 11 months ago
Does the point spread really mean anything, except for people bettingmoney on the game? Alabama was a pretty heavy favorite agains Utah also?
  • Ben Prather · 11 months ago
    Oklahoma 52, Florida 28

    Utah #2 in both Polls.

    pshhh.
  • "BC" · 11 months ago
i know you've all been looking forward to my pregame analysis so here it is:

Florida is going to win. and win big.
    check this stat:
Florida's defense has 87 TFLs on the season.
    Oklahoma's has EIGHT.

It is in my opinion that this year's florida squad is one of the best teams in college football history. Their offense is nearly unstoppable. Tebow, Harvin, James, Demps, etc. they'll run you all over the field.
Then, if you don't have unbelievable pass-coverage (we all know nobody in the B12 does) Tebow can pick you apart downfield.
not to mention the tebow factor. he is a warrior. if he had been born during the middle ages, there would be a movie coming out about him next month. he is the greatest leader i have ever seen on any sports team.
next, the underrated florida defense. their defense is SICK. they have a fast and nasty front seven, and a defensive backfield that will make Sam Bradford look like Graham Harrell and Colt McCoy when they faced real defenses for the first time during bowl season.
Sam Bradford will look TERRRRIBLE tonight.
he's not a bad QB, he's just not used to NOT having 5 seconds to throw the ball against terrible coverage.
The B12 has already been exposed (TTech, Oklahoma State, Texas (should be playing for the title but could barely beat OSU))
    the exposure will continue tonight.

    Final Score:
    Florida - 35
    Oklahoma - 10
  • OU_Ron · 11 months ago
You were saying the same thing about Alabama a few weeks ago, I can see what TE see's in you now.......enjoy the game.
  • TigerEducated · 11 months ago
Did you look at Colt McCoy's statistics in the Bowl Game? He was 41/59 for 414 yards & 2 Touchdowns...He also ran another score in. He also got picked once.

    That's a 70% pass completion %.

Since you said that Sam Bradford will look terrible tonight, I'm guessing since you also said that he'll look like Graham Harrell & Colt McCoy during bowl season, you're trying to say Colt McCoy looked terrible.

Which is just plain dumb. Or, should we now replace that adjective with, "That's just plan BC."?

I like the sound of that one better...

Before I forget, let's focus on the Graham Harrell for a minute...Without the best wide receiver in America, who was severely limited due to a high ankle sprain, Texas Tech was obviously not operating at peak efficiency on offense.

Harrell went 34-47, for 364 yards, 4 touchdowns, 2 picks, and an "almost" rushing touchdown to end the 1st half where he got hauled down at the 4 after a rumbling, rambling funny amble down the field.

He set a Cotton Bowl record for yardage...While somehow playing "terribly" without the #1 receiver in America in Michael Crabtree...Hmmm...Texas Tech-an unabashedly and unrepentant passing team out of the spread formation-put up 34 points in that game...without its starting #1 WR, against that SEC Defense, and somehow set a Cotton Bowl yardage record, and threw 4 TD's, yet played terribly?

Why do you bother typing such gobbeldygook?

Your posts have no sense, no perspective, context, or basis in anything resembling factual data...

Seriously...What do you base your opinion of either of those kids on? It can't be that you watched those games, or even looked at the boxscores. Hell, I doubt you even saw the ESPN Highlights, judging from your comments.

    Geezus, you're BC, BC...
  • 1Tomcat · 11 months ago
TE he is just jealous of all the great Texas QB's Clement,Daneil,Reising,McCoy and that kid that plays for Utah-Who all won their bowl games Harrel vs Snead two Texas QB's one of them had to lose, I think ole Gilligan needs to get a ride off of fantasy island
  • 1Tomcat · 11 months ago
Hey BC Texas vs OSU two great top ten teams -UT barely won- correct
Bama bareley won KY,Miss & LSU a win is a win would you not agree. I personally think that Fla will probably win, but I dont think that Bradford will look terrrible, because he has the best O=Line in the nation. in their one loss this year, they were outscored by the Texas offense.
Your prediction is purty funny OU=10 points
season low for OU is 35 points against Texas & TCU
Hey Gilligan You said the B-12 was exposed so far in bowls 4-2
Texas teams are 4-1 in bowls Bama teams 0-2

In my completely objective, unbiased, neutered--'er, neutral, opinion....

....UF wins by double digits, creating seperation late in the game.

CAVEAT: this presumes the referees will allow the players to play. Why would I say such a thing? Because Jack ("the fix is in") Childress will be head ref. tonight. Doesn't ring familiar? Allow me to refresh your memory: He was the head ref. over the "Ref Gate" a/k/a "Swindle in the Swamp" game, where 6 controversial fumbles were ALL ruled in FSU's favor, AGAINST the Gators, in a 38-34 disgrace to the game. How this discredited a$$hole landed this gig is beyond me...

Good thing you've got a long memory, TG. Maybe you remember UF's last scheduled out-of-state OOC? Do you remember?

The last time Florida scheduled an out-of-state OOC was 1991. 1991?!?!

And... worry not... Ron Cherry - one of the highest rated officials in the nation - is your referee. As long as you don't "Give him the business..." yall should be fine.

I'm sure it stings like hell, but OU gained ALOT of respect and cred nationally, notwithstanding loss. OU's OL and defense were ridiculously solid. A few breaks this way and that, and the result would be different.

I could go on and on, but I'm sure you don't want to hear it; I'll just leave it at this: OU earned A LOT of respect--almost proportionally to that lost by Texas over this season--especially in the Bowls.

unlike SEC fans we dont like OU they just happen to belong to the same conference and even if by some miracle they win, they will still be #2 in the B-12 conference
This is really kinda stupid- if Fla wins B-12 sucks- na it just means that Fla won
If OU wins then the B-12 gains respectability- dont make me laugh- look at their bowl record
I will never pull for OU in any game and will pull against them during every game for the rest of eternity because OU-Sux

No, if this happens, it just means that the SEC has won the BCS Championship Game in 2003, shafted in 2004, then again in 2006, 2007, and 2008.

The PAC-10 & Big XII garnering 1 title apiece during that time, with two schools-one Western & one Eastern-from the SEC claiming two titles in the past 5 years...

Four out of the past 5 years...and the 5th time in the past 10 seasons, I think?

Can't argue with the results on the national stage...

go gators tim tebow rushed for 109 yards on 22 carries and showed much poise after throwing two picks early in the game he has so many NFL qualities i dont see why people say he wont make it threw for thirty yards less than bradford in the national championship. So the main reason people say he wont make it is his choice to run instead of forceing a throw or getting sacked or waiting so long you might get sacked. Superman should keep up the good work stay another season and his passing will improve definetely a first rounder if he decides to stay another seaon in Gainsville. Some aspects Tebow should work on are he runs a little to much not that big but his main problem is over throwing the reciever
  • timtebowjohn316 · 10 months ago
tebow showed lots of heart more than any player i have seen in a little while except maybe adrain peterson he has strong heart too
