Geez, some of you guys are really quick to jump all over a kid. Personally, I think Powe should be commended for all the adversity he has fought through. As for his comments about not being able to read the citation, I think it's safe to say you can chalk that up to him being a kid and just trying to avoid trouble...come on, who didn't get a noise violation for a party in college and then try to sidestep it? This isn't Oklahoma State circa 1970, I'm positive Powe has learned how to read by now...

Anyway, I've been following Powe in this great documentary series that focuses on the rivalry between his high school (West Jones) and another team. If you haven't seen Head To Head, I'd highly recommend...very Friday Night Lights-esque, complete with the player's real stories, two charismatic head coaches, and some great music (The Album Leaf's song "Enchanted Hill" is used multiple times in this series, and it's a lot like Explosion in the Sky were used in Friday Night Lights).

I think the evidence indicates that Powe can, in fact, read. He's probably jumped through far more educational hoops than anyone posting here.

Yes, he has a learning disability - severe dyslexia. So do thousands of other college students who receive special tutoring and oral examinations.

Thanks for the ad hominem, TE. I may think your article is an example of petty hyperbole typically found on the worst examples of sportsblogs, but I don't think you're uneducated or illiterate.

I'm sorry I made the Perilloux comment. Obviously coaches and schools deal with situations differently, and we'll likely never know exactly what happens behind the scenes. This latest incident doesn't seem like much of a situation to me at all, just some college kids acting dumb at a party. If not for the "shunning face" I'm sure we'd never have heard of it.
