Yeah the author does exaggerate there but it certainly seems that at least with Tennessee and Auburn to be the case. I personally think it was one Rev. Houston Nutt who got Croom to resign. That was quite a turn around for Ole Miss that made Croom look pretty bad.

I was talking about the perceived emphasis on winning the SEC seems to have.
"Five coaches have been fired since Saban came back to the SEC. Why? Because Saban is winning and EVEN SUCCESSFUL SEC COACHES are being held to the insane standard of winning a national championship this year or next. No margin for error - win a championship next season or your fired."
This doesn't work unless people in Fayetteville and Oxford have crystal balls because Saban only went 6-6 in the regular season.

Indeed this is exceptionally true, TE; but few people actually realize it.

It's kinda like the fact that the President has exceptionally little to do with the Economy, but the overwhelming majority of people believe that he is intimately involved with it.

Once budget-minded people start getting greater in number as bad economic times start hurting more and more people, disgruntled people will begin multiplying and no one will want to hear the truth.

Auburn is a GREAT job... but the last six years of crazed boosters and inept leadership has made it a complete non-starter for many coaches. I don't think too many Tigers would dispute that plane-gate and this "resignation" reek.

I've always had a soft spot for AU. Too many great nights to count spent on road trips up there from Tally. I just wish the boosters/admin realized what they are doing to the rep on a very, very public stage.

It is my understanding that because Tennesse lost twice to us that that extra loss brought down our SOS because Tennesse as far as the computers were concerned was not as good. But because of the WAY you make your argument it makes it seem the oppisite.

That's a misnomer...Everyone...From Saban while he was at LSU to Miles now to Saban at Alabama, are paid massive amounts of their salary through the booster groups & "internet & television" deals via their coaches & radio shows...

Miles is only paid $300K through the state...and Saban was only paid $250K while was coach at LSU via the state (IE-LSU)....

Normally, I might root for Alabama, being for the SEC west, but if they gain too much momentum, it might be bad...

I think it'll be a close game but the Gators will win...
