Fanblogs Open Conference Championship Thread
Did anyone see Erin Andrews trying to interview Bobby Bowden at halftime? They cut to her but Bowden was trying to run over and talk to the officials after 5 first half holding penalties for the Noles. Right as she turned on the mic, Bowden caught up to the official, and she got to record him blessing the ref out. Bobby was about to get a little bit more heated, but he realized that the mic was on, so he bowed out...
When she got to the interview, Andrews was looking stone-faced while listening to Bobby . I swear, if I was her, as soon as Bowden let loose with the first Dadgum, I would have lost it right then and there. As it was, she did bust out laughing after the interview was over...
Why wasn't this game in the pick 'em contest? BYU is a ranked team...
Thursday Night games are not on the pick'em. That would make the deadline Wednesday. It is bad enough they include Friday games.
Great night for the MWC! ( unless your blood runs BYU blue, in which case it is extra blue tonight )
UPDATE: NC State throws a long bomb for a score. They're now up 17-13
The "versus" channel seems to be something coming out of the midwest somewhere - that mainly features MWC games. I know that there are other shows that are not sports - but we can catch a football game on there once in awhile. I think that I was watchin' the Oregon State/Utah game on that channel. I don't know if you guys got any obscure channels that cover Sunbelt games and whatnot - but this is that kinda channel. We pay for a premium package to pick up alot of other local channels around the country. We can for instance, get all the Alabama games on their local channels, and quite a few other ones also.
I've got so much free time, I may post 5 new threads tomorrow...
I always thought that was for wholesalers and not retailers...
If you remember the election fiasco from 8 years ago, today is real similar. Once it's over, things should pick back up...
I saw "Joe the Plumber" down at the Mercedes dealership. With the kinda bread that guys pullin' down - I suspect he'll pick one up for the missus also. I got a pal that is one of the best "pool plumbers" around - but he isn't doin' nowhere near what ol' Joe is doin'.
Have you sent that to John McCain? I think he'll get as much of a kick out of it as I did. Monumental! And, too true!
My TCU Frogs stomping a mudhole in BYU.
You got a TV down there, I suppose?
TE and I had to google your island to find out where the hell it was...
No worries. The inmates have control of the asylum here!
Seminoles did okay. They still haven't covered the spread in now 8 of the last 9 against NCS. What is disturbing is that Florida State did give up 7.2 ypp to the Wolfpack. What they did do well is to control the clock and keep it out of the packs hands. In the last few years - FSU would have probably dropped this game. Not this year. I never liked Weatherford and I think that Ponder is definately a step up. Also, the WR's look like a good improvment over what they've had lately also. All in all, this team may be on the rise, but they are gonna have to start playing better than that on defense.
This game sets the MWC back somewhat. The computers will pick this all up. It was too big of a beatdown from a team that got handled pretty easily by Oklahoma. Another thing that it does - is to drive Oklahoma's SOS upward. This was also a good game for Sooner fans - and not so good for UCLA fans (like it matters). Still, how in the world did UCLA lose 59-0 to that team? Wait, don't tell me, let me guess...THE PAC 10 SUCKS!...Am I close?
TCU had to beat either BYU or Utah to end up in the top 25. This game gives the MWC a chance at ending the season with 3 top 25 team. If Utah, BYU and TCU can all not lose to any other MWC teams it will happen. Utah can lose to BYU and TCU and stay in the top 25. BYU and TCU can lose to Utah and stay in the top 25.
TCU could not lose both and stay ranked. I am glad they beat BYU, now we can beat them free and clear. We also play TCU on thursday night, but it will be in our house.
I expect TCU will jump to near 18th and BYU will drop to near 22. A loss by Oklahoma could shake up the MWC standings completely.
That said, Utah is now the leader of the BCS scraps teams, with Boise State right on their heals.
The BCS non-AQ hit list has been fatal this year. The BCS AQ hit list was over due for a mark to be tagged. Two are still left standing and some more are in the wings.
Utah now has two ranked teams ahead, not the one top 10 team they were looking to have.
Yes, expansion to 12 would be ideal--no more 16...
Wish I knew earlier than Versus used to be OLN. I think I still get that channel...
This game now gets another circle to replace the one I erased after Oklahoma dismantled TCU. This is still the TCU team that beat Colorado State 13-7 last week. I think this game exposed an untested and highly overvalued BYU team more than it showed TCU to be a contender. Like a highly leveraged market their stocks were bound for a return to reality. Now to see how my Utes do this week against those same Colorado State Rams that played TCU tough last week...
I still don't see the swagger they had in 2004.
This Saturday, 2:30 PM (central) --
#2 Alabama -- NO MORE.
Go REBS! HOTTY TODDY!
Well, HOPEFULLY, you won't miss anything! ;)

Good win for that program...and I hope they can keep the ball rolling as their conference slate rolls on...
Jimbo's going to do wonders for that program...That offense had some growing pains last year, but they've finally got some pass catchers who bought into the blocking downfield philosophy that's so important for his scheme to work...
Their QB had a great night, as well...I'm excited about them...It's easy to root for Jimbo...He's a true class guy...
