firing his assistants or leaving. Question is where is he going to be next year?
Good luck with the new hire.
I have quite a few coworkers that are from Auburn, and went to Auburn, and they are saying that they're hearing a ton of chatter about Brian Kelly. Do you think that has any kind of a good chance of coming to fruition?
Just kidding...
He's been saying that the GM & Nick Saban have a "beautiful relationship" and that once Crennel gets canned...
The rumors that fly around on sports talk radio are absolutely amazing.
Mike Leach would be cool...
But, we'll be fine...Trust me on that...
The tape on LSU that everyone has this year from our offense might as well be wadded up and thrown out...We're going straight Spread next year...
Jordan's our QB, we're taking out the I-Formation, no blocking back, and Russ Shepherd's gonna be in town for bowl practices...He'll essentially be a RS Freshman by this fall...
Big things on offense next year, and we backed the Brinks truck up and told him to go pay for the best DC money can buy, within reason in terms of Chemistry...He's doing the class thing by not making announcements just yet, but if things fall into place...It's a very exciting time, in all honesty...
Leach has proven he doesn't need anything close to 5* recruits to play quarterback and score a sh!tload of points on people...
Sure, he's had Crabtree the past two years, but he had sprites and waterbugs running all over the field for him prior to that...He's had a ton of WR's under the 6-0 mark catch a ton of balls for him...
He also knows how to recruit Texas with every other program in America there, as well...Which means he'll get his players in Alabama, even with Nick there...and he won't need to recruit ridiculously well for his system to be implemented...
All of his QB's have been "system" players, as I think Harrell's the first one with true NFL potential...
That guy-if Auburn could lure him-would be a MUTHA...
He scares me in the SEC West...Straight up...
Supposedly, Will Muschamp has declined interest, too...
Take Jimbo, I have a feeling he will lose his HC in waiting status if he doesn't beat appropriate teams. Beat all ACC teams every year except perhaps the second tier Clemson and VT. They at least have some ok talent. Keep competetive with Miami and Florida or get the F... out. 141-48 points in the Urban Era. Unnacceptable. If those had been close losses where an FSU fan could have remotely enjoyed the game and been excited at any point I might be ok.
In all seriousness, I'd like to see the Miami/FSU rivalries get back to the "must win" game it used to be along with the FSU/UF end of the year spoiler.
I don't want to say this was because the recent and fast success at Alabama, but I'm almost positive if Alabama would have had a 8-4, 9-3 season this year, Tubs would still be the coach.
Good Luck to Auburn in their search....It will be interesting to see who they can come away with.
Say what you want, but the Tony Franklin deal was ugly...
Let's be honest...What new Offensive Coordinator are you going to be able to bring in when its apparent that the Coach doesn't mind his long-time assistants-a number in which you don't count yourself-stabbing you in the back, instilling a culture of "not buying in" to your system, and generally getting you fired in the process...
That's no way to run a football program...That's a toxic environment...and there's no way you can attract good candidates to fill the two most important coaching positions Tuberville continually seemed to need to fill on his staff...Not when they know the coach and his tenured/entrenched staff he's thick as thieves with will ultimately always side with them.
Auburn isn't going to go for a good ole boy network on their coaching staff...
This ain't a family business...
But if you think the fact that Alabama is 12-0 and playing for the SEC Championship, plus the 36-0 loss - nevermind the fact that it's only 1 win for Bama in 7 years - didn't play a factor in this decision, then........well, that's all I'm saying.
;)
I also-and this is the honest truth-think that Tuberville wanted to be bought out...
An easy way to make $6,000,000.00...
Geez....Wingnut's got it made!
completely unprofessional. here's what the coaches wives had to say on a local radio show:
http://sportscallonline.com/radio/sportscall.htm
Nobody will lose their job...and Bobby won't lose control of the Anaconda-like stranglehold he has over that school...
He then forced out the Dean of the School of Journalism, who left for the U of Wyoming...
He had this to say about Lowder, whose entangled all of the Auburn Trustees in financial dealings that assure his complete control over him...
"They are peckerwood Machiavellis, ravenous rubes, toads and sycophants, feckless fobs, and duplicitous dons..."
Bar-none the best twist-off in a public forum in the history of the world...
You sincerely have to know how much that string of verbal pompousity speaks to my heart...
Although I donate to the school and not the athletic dept,, I can't wait until they call me again wanting some cash and I get to tell them to go pound sand...
I would get over my anti-big east Bias if they expanded to 12 teams. I don't think they should be able to retain a BCS bid at 8. Clearly no bowl wants any of them they are given an at large bid (the orange is probably pissed the ACC doesn't send teams it want's either -Miami or FSU-). The best Bowl prize the Big East offers is WVU which pales next to all the SEC and half the ACC. USF is years away from building a fanbase and many of those programs have killed thier fanbases -Syracuse, Rutgers- (Northerners are more Fickle NC State keeps a nice fanbase with mediocre teams so does USC-east).
In related news, ND has confirmed that Charlie Weiss will be their football coach in 2009. I guess that closes down the "Urban Meyer to ND" thread for another year.
In other related news, GT coach Paul Johnson won ACC coach of the year. In unrelated news, GT sophomore B-back Jonathan Dwyer was named ACC player of the year and the Yellow Jackets were invited to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
Yeah, but don't forget--the title of that post was "Urban Meyer is the next Notre Dame head coach". So it's definitely good until Weiss is replaced, anyway! ;-)
Good stuff on the Yellow Jackets.
:-)
This would really suck for me (if CPJ left GT). The last GT coach I liked was Bobby Ross though I'll confess to liking O'Leary, but only when Ralph Friedgen was his OC. Alas, the ACC schools aren't paying the same wages as the SEC, Big-10++, Big-12, PAC-10, and ND, so good coaches in the ACC are inevitably cherry picked.
Anyways, I am not buying a ticket to play Wisconsin. If we get Nebraska in the Gator I would buy a ticket.
I wish the NCAA would give up on the whole eligibility thing I would love to see FSU Auburn or FSU Tennessee whereas I wouldn’t even click the TV on to see FSU - Ball State. Bowls are about money stop pretending they have anything to do with performance!! Aside from that I think Auburn could down Ball State, not so sure about Tennessee though after that awful loss to Wyoming.
Tommy Tuberville was completely destroyed after that 36-0 beatdown.
and there was no way he could've recovered next season.
he was getting dominated in recruiting, dominated in the SEC, and finally dominated by Alabama.
he was on decline with no way to get back up.
same situation with Fulmer.
I think Mike Leach will be an excellent hire, and i look forward to a rivalry that will match two different styles against one another.
people are acting like his offense won't work in the SEC.
well, once he gets SEC players from the SEC talent pool, like Meyer, it will work in the SEC. but don't be surprised if it takes a few years to get that mess turned around.
It took Meyer only one year, but he walked into a much better situation. one that included a great QB in Chris Leak, and loads of other talent.
but wait, what if MSU decides to take a look at Mike Leach also?
or what if Auburn takes a look at Croom? or Fulmer? or Bowden? or any other coach that lost their job after being dominated by Saban?
oh well. i'm just glad that Alabama is back on top of the SEC West again, and looks to be there to stay for quite some time.
Tommy Tuberville was completely destroyed after that 36-0 beatdown.

Im not really following you here, Bama won for the first time in seven years as of 4 days ago and Tubbs was fired as of 3 hours ago. Is your term of "awhile" in reference of you said this over dinner tonight?
He often makes idiotic pronouncements...LSU fans shooting people...Nick Saban being idiotic (Wait...I agree with that one)...Our recruits liking Alabama...All sorts of irresponsible, baseless information...
They had gotten "dominated" so bad that they got beaten once in the past 7 years...
He's a toolbelt...
this guy.
seriously?
TE said LSU would beat Alabama this year.
he also said Les Miles was a better coach than Nick Saban.
and LSU's recruits DO like Alabama. in fact, 2 of your commits are taking official visits.
probably had something to do with losing to Arkansas back-to-back, and losing to Ole Miss...
TE has absolutely no credibility. and as you can see, has a terminal case of little man syndrome
Name the two recruits...I LOVE it when you talk recruiting...
Seriously...I want you to talk to me about these "two commits" that are taking "official visits"...
Enlighten me...
(See folks...this is a setup, and BC knows it...I've got more recruiting contacts that BC has hairs on that dead muskrat of a hairdo on his head...If he bites, then he KNOWS I'm going to slam him...This is the part where he'll either get so aggravated that he HAS to respond with vagaries and ambiguity about the latest Rival's update or tripe he's gotten off of Bama On Line...or he'll run and hide like normal...without ever backing his information up)
My money's on his sense of hubris, folks...Any takers on a rambling, circular logic-filled, non-speak response about "I heard on Rivals."
Come on, BC...Bring your recruiting knowledge, brosef...LOL...
here's one:
"Kenny Bell, Scout.com four-star wide receiver from Rayville High School in Louisiana, is committed to LSU, but plans to take an official visit to Alabama."
http://www.tidesports.com/article/20081202/BONE...
h/o. i'll try to find where i saw the other one
Kenny Bell would no longer BE an LSU commitment if he took an official visit to another school...
Do me a favor, BC...Ask me if you want me to give you a DIRECT QUOTE FROM KENNY BELL...LOL...
Or would you rather one from his coach? Perhaps his parents? I can obtain all VEEEEEEEEEEERY easily...
Seriously...I'm going to give you an opportunity to back out....
This Bama Recruiting site trash has gone on long enough, and I know we're not a Recruiting Website here, but I'm ready to make you look REALLY bad, anytime you decide to reach your hand up to the stove...
So, I'm asking you-ONE MORE TIME-do you want me to post direct quotes from player, coach, and family?
Just curious...You let me know, little 'un...
http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/13287847bb/awe...
I did watch this kid from Paris, TN (Henry Co) Friday night, Dominique Allen, who backed out of TN after Fulmer got fired & committed to LSU. Needless to say..I was not impressed. Even though it was just one game, I still wasn't inpressed. I know he is a 'lower' ranked guy, but still...ya know.
We've had some guys who've watched him play, and are of an opinion opposite of yours...But, hey...You never know...
I know he's the 5th rated FB in America...
i've been saying auburn should fire Tuberville ever since Saban got the #1 recruiting class in the country.
Alabama was beating them in recruiting, they were losing in the SEC, and finally, the straw that broke the camel's back was Alabama dominating on the field of play.
It's fans like you that's going to cause Saban to be a victim of his own success one day. If he goes 7-5 next year, you're first in line to call for his head.
Bammers hating Tuberville is like liberals hating Bush--they ain't going to stop even when he's gone. Hopefully, we'll give you reason to hate the new guy, too...
he's a good coach.
Tuberville was obviously a bad coach...
it only took him one hunting season to lose the state.
Petrino would be a horrible choice just by the fact that he and Franklin pretty much run the same system and if it didn't work for him why would it work for Bobby P? And yes Franklin was just the OC, either way that kinda offensive system just wont work right now. If they would have kept Franklin and TT, and waited and sold the idea of an explosive offense to kids they could have brought in the tools to make it happen out there. But instead they pulled the trigger fired Franklin and now TT and they are in a mess. You could have easily sold the idea of that offense to kids, just like Urban Meyer did at Florida, his first year wasn't great, but he hit the recruiting trail brought in player that fit his system, and the old players got use to the system and look where they are now.
Patience is key in todays world of football, and unfortunately no AD or big time Booster has it!
If the competitive situation Bleed Crimson writes about truly exists, AND it's a sure thing that Auburn will get a better coach than Tuberville, AND it's a sure thing that the new coach has better character than Tuberville, AND it makes sense financially to buy him out, then maybe you could make an argument for getting a new guy. But it doesn't add up. One good year at Alabama is not a reason to panic. There is more to this story and it gets to the heart of what's most wrong with college football.
Auburn has the potential to bring in a good recruiting class. Tommy just wasn't getting the job done.
but, i think at least in recent years, Texas has been the best state for HS QBs
they'll be lucky to land in the top 20.
Sorry, Cobia, but Stoops and Carrol don't leave programs like OU and USC for Auburn. You have to be more realistic..
Leavitt is a possibility, although his stock isn't up like it was a year ago...
Your nuts and certainly have no idea about AU football.
Auburn had the #5 recruiting class this year according to Scout.com.
That will go away quickly. This was the work of Bobby Lowder and he has been trying to do this since 2003.
It had very little to do with this season other then an unexpected oppurtunity for Lowder to do what hes wanted to do since he orchestrated Jetgate.
This is about money and boosters, and AU should be embarassed.
Montez Robbins,Terrance Coleman have already decommited since hearing the news.
Im certain more will follow. This was an absolutely stupid move .
Im sure youll get a kick out of it just because your a Bama fan but id rather you not make such ignorant comments about it being a good move.
it all depends on the hire.
if y'all don't get mike leach, chris peterson, paul johnson, or someone better, you can go ahead and kiss the next decade goodbye
and youre right, i'm getting a HUGE kick out of this.
remember, "Tuberville owns Saban"....
You're such an idiot...
5 Auburn recruits have de-commited:
****Raymond Cotton, ****Montez Robinson, ***Terrence Coleman, ***David Conner, and 2010 Star BJ Chitty.
wow. now this is ridiculous.
here are some calls from coach dunn's and coach enzminger's wifes to a local radio show.
coach dunn was recruiting at a high school and found out from the high school coach, that he was being fired.
coach enzminger got a call while he was in Raymond Cotton's house to tell him that he was fired. (any wonder why he de-commited)
listen to the calls, and you can see this mess is much worse than it appears:
it's actually pretty sad. no joke. auburn sucks.
http://sportscallonline.com/radio/sportscall.htm
The Auburn fans on here are not like the ones that I'm sure you know personally. There is no reason to come on here saying "auburn sucks" and what not. Feel free to act like that to another fan that has given you hell in the past, but these fans have not been bad sports about beating us during the streak. So just because their program has hit a downfall, and just because we beat them this year, doesn't mean you should come on here and be a bad sport. I can't stand sore fans - winners or losers. Don't mean to sound like a mother here but I don't like fans that give us others a bad name. Lord knows there are plenty of those that wear crimson and white....
Anyway, Roll Tide!
Good Luck on your finals next week.
;)
Honestly im embarrased by the actions of AU. BC cant really do much to make that worse. Hes just immature and quite frankly AU deserves what ever critisim it gets from this.
I for one actually enjoyed having a program that was run cleanly and without worry of suspension. I liked the fact that the players were graduating,
I enjoyed being competitive even if we didnt win a NT.
Some people ( Lowder) just need to go away.
But I'm just trying to play fair.
I usually don't throw the punch until the b!tch hits me. :)
But carry on like ya'll were. I won't interfere anymore.
i feel bad for the families involved. if you listen to the calls, you can hear how the families and coaches found out they were fired long after the media did.
and just so ya know, i really don't care what you or any other poster on here thinks of me or my posts. i'm always going to say what i want without a politically correct filter. if that means i will never get a golden star by my name, so be it.
oh, and good luck on your finals as well and Roll Tide!!
If I can get one by my name, it doesn't take much...
It's called a little bit of class...
But, we've seen the "class" you exude here...
Whether it was your upbringing, or that attitude is completely your own doing, you're a sad representation of your fanbase on a site that a lot of people read around the nation...
You stay classy, BC...
thanks.
i just think it's funny how you obviously feel so inferior to me. even when my shots aren't directed at you, you try to take one at me.
i really don't have anything to say really, except i look forward to your negative comment on the next thing i say.
how many jokes do you have? how long can you keep it up?
i mean, i knew those LSU fans could talk some trash, but my god, you've brought it to a new level. you're even talking trash after an embarrassing season.
also, have you realized that since Les Miles has been the coach at LSU, he's always lost as many, or more games than the season before it?
if that's not a team on a decline i don't know what is.
you stay classy, TE...
Did you really think that "stat" about the losses out before you posted it?
I'm guessing you didn't...but, once again, par for the course...
Have fun with the wayward, off-base, wildly erratic, and incredibly silly act, here, BC...
It's tough when your own fans won't follow down the path you take here...
Telling, as well...
But, its a personal vendetta, BC...We're all out to get you!
Adjust that tinfoil hat there, and Swing Away!
You are right that is rediculous. Some heads need to roll for that crap, but I know they won't. That is exactly what I am talking about. This is the very thing Leach tries to avoid. If anyone from Aurburn thinks Leach will go into that sort of crap, they are wrong. He is not going to go into a program with a "Jerry Jones" type AD calling the shots, and gonna boot his butt out the door when it takes him 4 years to put his system in.
I also thought it was funny she said Saban pays recruits. I'll bet you enjoyed that one BC. haha. Man I really underestimated this rivalry......
I actually wasnt joking when i stated earlier that Tubbs would have made a great AD.
IMO he is the only one that stood up to Lowder and he was hated for it. Your absolutely right though, Jacobs is certainly a pinnochio. However most AU fans know who is pulling his strings.
Mike Riley might be an intriguing choice, but I just don't know if we could stand an Alabama man coaching us.
Intriguing Question....I thought TW was the man for the job 4 years ago. not sure why I want the Huskies to succeed since they are our dispised rival. But 0-12, good lord there's no fun in beating a rival like that. Would you rather Alabama be pathetic and an easy mark year after year (ok, so they have been in the Iron Bowl recently up until this season).
It would be fun to have a little SEC experience come out the USC + 9, no defense, weak ass league we call the Pac 10.
The only person I don't want to see go to UW is Chip Kelly. Like Tedford at Cal (and before him John McKay and John Robinson at USC) he would be a pain in our butt. EX-UO coaches are our major contibution to the Pac.
[Edit]: Although, it appears as if I've posted this 1 year from now (-1 years ago)...
I work for an ISP though. I have a 100G connection. That's why I said it doesn't really matter, as that is very much not the norm. However, I have had load problems in the past, which would indicate server issues. Right now I'm not getting them, so the data is being transmitted properly.
It's for the birds, IMO...
On a different note, who are you hearing for the DC job at LSU?
As for LSU's Defensive Coordinator...
I've heard Chavis already talked with Miles over the phone, and then did a more formal interview over the phone again...But, I hear Clemson's making a push for him...He might be able to bring both of his DL coaches (I believe Chavis has separate coaches for DT & DE) and we don't have that much wiggle room amongst our staff (contrary to popular belief, the NCAA limits the # of total assistants you can have on staff)....
If he's not there, then its Vic Koennig...What were your thoughts on his defenses?
The only other browser I've used is IE though.
Mozilla Firefox is your huckleberry, my man.
Give it a shot. I can share some extremely cool tricks with you once you get a bit used to it. The best is holding CTRL while clicking on a link causes a new tab to open. So, you can open a new site while not leaving the one you're already on. IE has attempted to replicate this feature, but I still like Firefox better. Also, keywording searches is extremely helpful. For instance, if I want to read a wiki article on wichita massacre, I just type "w wichita massacre" in the URL, and I'm there. It's not necessary, but it is very cool.
Two programs I won't do without...
Firefox, and AVG Anti-Virus...and they're both free...
Gotta love 'em...
Internet explorer locks up and mozilla ocationally indicate that a javascript applet may be broken and if you wish to allow it to continue.
The critical number appears to be somewhere near 100, 50 dispolaying the most recent 50-75 posts for a thread, with page buttons at the bottom, would likely aviod this issue.
((We now return you to our regularly scheduled coaching talk.....))
Hosting it locally would be a great solution if that's doable.
In the words of Regan: paginating me no like...
TIM TEBOW FOR HEISMAN
Either that, or Derek Dooley, the AD/HC at Louisiana Tech...
I'd LOVE to hire that guy once Miles hangs it up...An AWESOME hire, if you ask me...
The talking heads here in B'ham are saying Gill Turner don't no anything about him anyone have any thoughts on him.
Would also be pleased with Will Muschamp or Jimbo Fisher
The West ain't for the squeamous, apparently.
(check my spelling on that)
Here is a little local flavor of the situation as of today.
BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II
US Ranked 4th
After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS
computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS
declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.
"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the
annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference
play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and
the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however
considering their entire body of work--including an incredibly tough
Strength of Schedule--our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."
Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner
stated "The US only had two major victories--Japan and Germany. The
computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head
contests--they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted
event."
German Chancellor Adolph Hiter said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we
defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been criticized
for seeking dramatic victories to earn 'style points' to enhance Germany's
rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the
final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and
demanded the application of additional forces."
The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented " France
had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking they
only fell to #2."
Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the
Philippines.
Infer whatever you want from that...
Sorry for the double post, but I thought it was relevant on two threads...
Leach is the premier name on the list, but I don't give it much chance of happening, myself...
