Fanblogs.com: Tommy Tuberville out after 10 years on the Plains...

  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Wow. I didn't think it would actually happen, but this might be the right move. It will be interesting to see what the Tigers do from here.
  • spreadeagle · 1 year ago
I actually didnt see this coming. But I think Tubs did the right thing when he was given the ultimatum of
firing his assistants or leaving. Question is where is he going to be next year?
  • Porcine · 1 year ago
The word is Bobby has already declined.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Auburn unofficially contacted both Leach and Petrino to gauge their interest.
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Can you put together a list of potentials? Whether it be your list or what you're hearing, I'd like to see one. I'm also curious to know who your pick would be, or maybe your top 3.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
I have no clue right now, Joe. Leach sounds good, but I don't know how feasible that is...
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
That's completely understandable. After you've had some time to marinate on it, if you do happen to come up with something, I'd love to see it.

Good luck with the new hire.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
It seems that those persistent rumors about Tubs being possibly interested in a Clemson vacancy might have some validity. Hmmm.... What would you think about that? Ink dry on Swinney's contract?
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
I don't think anyone at Clemson was ever really interested in him. The ink's dry. We have our guy.

I have quite a few coworkers that are from Auburn, and went to Auburn, and they are saying that they're hearing a ton of chatter about Brian Kelly. Do you think that has any kind of a good chance of coming to fruition?
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
Once again, I'll remind you and everybody else Glen Mason is available. ;-)
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
    Saban to Auburn now?

    Just kidding...
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
LOL, I just said the same thing on the open thread
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
LOL. That should stir the pot a bit.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
There's a radio guy up in Cleveland who does the "GM Show" for the Browns...

He's been saying that the GM & Nick Saban have a "beautiful relationship" and that once Crennel gets canned...
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
    LOL. That's awesome.

The rumors that fly around on sports talk radio are absolutely amazing.
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
Honestly, I wouldn't be a bit surprised by that.
  • grover · 1 year ago
To bad. I liked Tommy. I understand the situation there (personal with assistants, family ,etc) was becoming bad.

    Mike Leach would be cool...

    The Air Raid @ Auburn
  • BigTide30A · 1 year ago
TE, how long until Miles gets shown the door? Michigan will be booting RR no later than 2010 and Bama will have two more SEC WEST titles by then. That seat in Red Stick will be hotter than Georgia asphalt in August.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
Miles is here...He made a mistake with the Co-Coordinators, and he's going to fix that, along with getting rid of a few others that were poor performers from a talent development standpoint.

But, we'll be fine...Trust me on that...

The tape on LSU that everyone has this year from our offense might as well be wadded up and thrown out...We're going straight Spread next year...

Jordan's our QB, we're taking out the I-Formation, no blocking back, and Russ Shepherd's gonna be in town for bowl practices...He'll essentially be a RS Freshman by this fall...

Big things on offense next year, and we backed the Brinks truck up and told him to go pay for the best DC money can buy, within reason in terms of Chemistry...He's doing the class thing by not making announcements just yet, but if things fall into place...It's a very exciting time, in all honesty...
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Too bad Muschump left for the cow pen, look what would have fell into his hands....
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
I just don't think he's ready yet, Ron. Not for any team. JMHO...
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Honestly, just think what Leach can do if he had D....
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
I just e-mailed WEA this same thing, but, I'll be honest...

Leach has proven he doesn't need anything close to 5* recruits to play quarterback and score a sh!tload of points on people...

Sure, he's had Crabtree the past two years, but he had sprites and waterbugs running all over the field for him prior to that...He's had a ton of WR's under the 6-0 mark catch a ton of balls for him...

He also knows how to recruit Texas with every other program in America there, as well...Which means he'll get his players in Alabama, even with Nick there...and he won't need to recruit ridiculously well for his system to be implemented...

All of his QB's have been "system" players, as I think Harrell's the first one with true NFL potential...

That guy-if Auburn could lure him-would be a MUTHA...

He scares me in the SEC West...Straight up...
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
you have to have a defense in the SEC. It's required!!!
  • OU_Ron · 1 year ago
Looks like a winning combo to me.......
  • BigTide30A · 1 year ago
He's headed to LSU after they fire Miles........
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
If he puts a winner on the field, Muschamp will stay at Texas for 20 years...
  • Mr2Bits · 1 year ago
So I guess this opens up the dorrs for Tubberville to UW? Wonder if ND might think twice about keeping Weis
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
So then was he fired or did he resign?
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Upon further reading, other potential candidates in addition to Leach and Petrino (who has already said no) include: Paul Johnson of GA Tech, Jimbo Fisher of FSU, and the obligitory Steve Spurrier mention. These are just names that are popping up. Don't ask me about validity yet...

Supposedly, Will Muschamp has declined interest, too...
  • FSU_Ben · 1 year ago
I don't think steve likes Auburn. Sorta like he loathes tennessee but not as passionate.

Take Jimbo, I have a feeling he will lose his HC in waiting status if he doesn't beat appropriate teams. Beat all ACC teams every year except perhaps the second tier Clemson and VT. They at least have some ok talent. Keep competetive with Miami and Florida or get the F... out. 141-48 points in the Urban Era. Unnacceptable. If those had been close losses where an FSU fan could have remotely enjoyed the game and been excited at any point I might be ok.
  • Mr2Bits · 1 year ago
    Yea, Im sorry about that.

In all seriousness, I'd like to see the Miami/FSU rivalries get back to the "must win" game it used to be along with the FSU/UF end of the year spoiler.
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
This is just stupid. an undefeated season & six in a row against hated rival Alabama. Good luck finding a better coach.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
    It's an SEC West thing...You wouldn't understand...
  • Bama_Babe · 1 year ago
I agree. As much as I dislike Tuberville for various reasons (rival coach, jabs at 'Bama, the streak, the whole finger deal, etc) I am very surprised with this move. He is fourth in all time wins at AU, and only had two losing seasons in 10 years.

I don't want to say this was because the recent and fast success at Alabama, but I'm almost positive if Alabama would have had a 8-4, 9-3 season this year, Tubs would still be the coach.

Good Luck to Auburn in their search....It will be interesting to see who they can come away with.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
Tuberville's dogged loyalty to his assistants is what ultimately cost him...

Say what you want, but the Tony Franklin deal was ugly...

Let's be honest...What new Offensive Coordinator are you going to be able to bring in when its apparent that the Coach doesn't mind his long-time assistants-a number in which you don't count yourself-stabbing you in the back, instilling a culture of "not buying in" to your system, and generally getting you fired in the process...

That's no way to run a football program...That's a toxic environment...and there's no way you can attract good candidates to fill the two most important coaching positions Tuberville continually seemed to need to fill on his staff...Not when they know the coach and his tenured/entrenched staff he's thick as thieves with will ultimately always side with them.

Auburn isn't going to go for a good ole boy network on their coaching staff...

    This ain't a family business...
  • Bama_Babe · 1 year ago
That is true. I'm not saying the Franklin deal and the aftermath of it didn't have any affect on this...
But if you think the fact that Alabama is 12-0 and playing for the SEC Championship, plus the 36-0 loss - nevermind the fact that it's only 1 win for Bama in 7 years - didn't play a factor in this decision, then........well, that's all I'm saying.

    ;)
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
I think Bobby's wanted this for a loooooong time...

I also-and this is the honest truth-think that Tuberville wanted to be bought out...

An easy way to make $6,000,000.00...
  • Bama_Babe · 1 year ago
And he gets half of that within the next month.

    Geez....Wingnut's got it made!
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
    dude, check this s*** out.
completely unprofessional. here's what the coaches wives had to say on a local radio show:

  • BigWarEagle · 1 year ago
I really thought the guy had earned at least another year but I think that Lowder was looking for any excuse to show tubs the door and 5-7 and 36 to zip are pretty good excuses.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
It's days like these that make me want to take my diploma off my office wall and put it in a drawer somewhere...
  • BigWarEagle · 1 year ago
I thought the same thing. All I can say is that they better make a damn good hire.
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
Don't do that. If people in the administration make the wrong decisions, they'll lose their job, too.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
Bobby Lowder isn't the Administration...Bobby Lowder IS Auburn...Read up on him...

Nobody will lose their job...and Bobby won't lose control of the Anaconda-like stranglehold he has over that school...
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
Ah...one of those situations. That's too bad. I think I will read up on him, thanks.
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
Good gravy train. That didn't take long. I see exactly why you worded the article the way you did now.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
The Auburn student newspaper was once critical of him during the Mid-90's, and he responded by trying to take away control of the Student Newspaper from the School of Journalism and fold it into the School of Mass Communication...

He then forced out the Dean of the School of Journalism, who left for the U of Wyoming...

He had this to say about Lowder, whose entangled all of the Auburn Trustees in financial dealings that assure his complete control over him...

"They are peckerwood Machiavellis, ravenous rubes, toads and sycophants, feckless fobs, and duplicitous dons..."

Bar-none the best twist-off in a public forum in the history of the world...

You sincerely have to know how much that string of verbal pompousity speaks to my heart...
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
    Wow. Just...wow.
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
OK, and I just found this little gem on YouTube while looking through my Google search...I think I'm beginning to understand now...
  • WarEagleFan · 1 year ago
I use to work for the guy that started the Auburn Network. This guy is a no BS kind of guy and didn't put up the Bobby's meglomaniac personality. Well that didn't sit well with Bobby at all. The guy ( I won't use his name on here) was building a house that was woth about 200,000 dollars in the early 80's that was finaniced though Bobby's bank( Colonial Bank). The day that Bobby fired him he handed him a note that said they were dropping his loan. NO JOB AND NO HOUSE that 's an a$$hole like you can't believe.
  • Ben Prather · 1 year ago
What about Franklin, this time with a cast that will support him, not undermine him?
  • BigWarEagle · 1 year ago
I guess Auburn is not in an economic crisis. We seem to be able to pay off Borges, Franklin and now Tuberville.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
And aren't they still paying Dye some hush money???

Although I donate to the school and not the athletic dept,, I can't wait until they call me again wanting some cash and I get to tell them to go pound sand...
  • BigWarEagle · 1 year ago
...and dont forget about Baby Bowden and Wayne Hall. I wonder how I can get on the Auburn/Lowder payroll?!
  • MariettaWarEagle · 1 year ago
Until Auburn gets a President and an AD with the guts to stand up to Bobby Lowder, the coaching job will always be a revolving door. Lowder couldn't stand the fact Tubs stood up to him 5 years ago, thus the Petrino debacle. Lowder has been waiting for the opportunity to get rid of TT. I think this is a stupid decision -- who worth a flip will come to the Plains with the Lowder hammer hanging high???
  • BigWarEagle · 1 year ago
We definitely appear to be the most dysfunctional family in college football.
  • FSU_Ben · 1 year ago
Ok there is too much coach firing going on. All these people seem to think the next Nick Saban or Urban Meyer or Les Miles is out there waiting for them. Imagine if any of you had to put up with what FSU fans deal with. WAKE FOREST! BC?! GT!?!? At least you lost SEC Games for the most part (and WVU, ok I might want to fire him for losing to a Big East team having a extreme down year). Try losing ACC games and not even wanting to watch your conference championship because you watched 3 BC vs. VT games in 2 years and it's getting old and because this game has sucked to watch every year since inception (FSU/VT was the most exciting but the whole first half was BORING as HECK).
  • shiguy · 1 year ago
Wow. I like how you put loosing to WVU as such an atrocity. I wouldn't say loosing to us would hold any more disrespect as loosing to FSU. Really I would say it would be more relevant to say loosing to Arkansas or Old MIss were the real shockers.
  • FSU_Ben · 1 year ago
It's not about disliking WVU. It's a Big Least thing. You can't replace Miami, BC, VT with Louisville, Cincinnati (LOL), UCONN, and USF and expect the respect level to be retained. I Loathe UConn and Cincinnati and any year your team loses to them will be a DOWN year for them. I think you still haven’t lost to UConn so you can keep your heads up square your shoulders and beat random loser team from Ohio next year. I posted two huge posts on this in the Notre Dame Bowl thread. FSU btw has never lost to Cincinnati, Neither has Auburn and yes we have both played them. Cincinnati has a 1-36 record over traditional powers they have played (OSU, Alabama, Auburn, FSU, Florida, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee and 1-8 vs. Penn State for that one loss) you may have other traditional powers in mind and I would probably agree, they just didn't ever meet. Cincinnati has played a lot of football south of them, much to their apparent detriment.

I would get over my anti-big east Bias if they expanded to 12 teams. I don't think they should be able to retain a BCS bid at 8. Clearly no bowl wants any of them they are given an at large bid (the orange is probably pissed the ACC doesn't send teams it want's either -Miami or FSU-). The best Bowl prize the Big East offers is WVU which pales next to all the SEC and half the ACC. USF is years away from building a fanbase and many of those programs have killed thier fanbases -Syracuse, Rutgers- (Northerners are more Fickle NC State keeps a nice fanbase with mediocre teams so does USC-east).
  • BigWarEagle · 1 year ago
They are calling it a resignation but he gets the whole $6 million buyout. He says he is staying in Auburn and not pursuing any coaching jobs for next year. I wouldn't work either Tubs!
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
Yeah, I'm sure the buyout is null and void if he gets a job somewhere else. Makes you wonder what he's going to do besides a lot of fishing.
  • Ramblin' Gator · 1 year ago
Wow, lose one game to Bama every 7 years and you're out on you azz! ;-)

In related news, ND has confirmed that Charlie Weiss will be their football coach in 2009. I guess that closes down the "Urban Meyer to ND" thread for another year.

In other related news, GT coach Paul Johnson won ACC coach of the year. In unrelated news, GT sophomore B-back Jonathan Dwyer was named ACC player of the year and the Yellow Jackets were invited to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
"I guess that closes down the "Urban Meyer to ND" thread for another year."

Yeah, but don't forget--the title of that post was "Urban Meyer is the next Notre Dame head coach". So it's definitely good until Weiss is replaced, anyway! ;-)

Good stuff on the Yellow Jackets.
  • Ramblin' Gator · 1 year ago
Very true, Tom. All kidding aside, I fully expect the Urban Meyer speculation to restart in 12 months unless ND wins 9+. I may have to cheer for the Fighting Irish in a couple of games, next season. :-(
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
And here's another news flash, RG: We may be going after your coach...

    :-)
  • Ramblin' Gator · 1 year ago
That would not surprise me at all. Paul Johnson and Houston Nutt would be my two nominees for national coach of the year, if I had such influence. I'll be shocked if they don't get a few phone calls after bowl season.

This would really suck for me (if CPJ left GT). The last GT coach I liked was Bobby Ross though I'll confess to liking O'Leary, but only when Ralph Friedgen was his OC. Alas, the ACC schools aren't paying the same wages as the SEC, Big-10++, Big-12, PAC-10, and ND, so good coaches in the ACC are inevitably cherry picked.
  • FSU_Ben · 1 year ago
Yes. Congrats. Makes me think FSU will get Champs Sports this year. I hope it's not Wisconsin. Anything but that. I just think VT will get the Gator Bid. The gator can select FSU over VT though any of our bids after the orange can take any team this year because we are all within one of each other in conference play (ACC rule states you can't take a team that is two games worse than an available team).

Anyways, I am not buying a ticket to play Wisconsin. If we get Nebraska in the Gator I would buy a ticket.

I wish the NCAA would give up on the whole eligibility thing I would love to see FSU Auburn or FSU Tennessee whereas I wouldn’t even click the TV on to see FSU - Ball State. Bowls are about money stop pretending they have anything to do with performance!! Aside from that I think Auburn could down Ball State, not so sure about Tennessee though after that awful loss to Wyoming.
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
Best move Auburn could've made, and i've been saying this for a while now.
Tommy Tuberville was completely destroyed after that 36-0 beatdown.
and there was no way he could've recovered next season.
he was getting dominated in recruiting, dominated in the SEC, and finally dominated by Alabama.
he was on decline with no way to get back up.
    same situation with Fulmer.

I think Mike Leach will be an excellent hire, and i look forward to a rivalry that will match two different styles against one another.
people are acting like his offense won't work in the SEC.
well, once he gets SEC players from the SEC talent pool, like Meyer, it will work in the SEC. but don't be surprised if it takes a few years to get that mess turned around.
It took Meyer only one year, but he walked into a much better situation. one that included a great QB in Chris Leak, and loads of other talent.

but wait, what if MSU decides to take a look at Mike Leach also?
or what if Auburn takes a look at Croom? or Fulmer? or Bowden? or any other coach that lost their job after being dominated by Saban?

oh well. i'm just glad that Alabama is back on top of the SEC West again, and looks to be there to stay for quite some time.

  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
You'd have to understand BC...His mouth reminds me of a child's alimentary canal...a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other...

He often makes idiotic pronouncements...LSU fans shooting people...Nick Saban being idiotic (Wait...I agree with that one)...Our recruits liking Alabama...All sorts of irresponsible, baseless information...

They had gotten "dominated" so bad that they got beaten once in the past 7 years...

    He's a toolbelt...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
    haha.

    this guy.
    seriously?
TE said LSU would beat Alabama this year.
he also said Les Miles was a better coach than Nick Saban.
and LSU's recruits DO like Alabama. in fact, 2 of your commits are taking official visits.
probably had something to do with losing to Arkansas back-to-back, and losing to Ole Miss...

TE has absolutely no credibility. and as you can see, has a terminal case of little man syndrome
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
    BC,

Name the two recruits...I LOVE it when you talk recruiting...

Seriously...I want you to talk to me about these "two commits" that are taking "official visits"...

    Enlighten me...

(See folks...this is a setup, and BC knows it...I've got more recruiting contacts that BC has hairs on that dead muskrat of a hairdo on his head...If he bites, then he KNOWS I'm going to slam him...This is the part where he'll either get so aggravated that he HAS to respond with vagaries and ambiguity about the latest Rival's update or tripe he's gotten off of Bama On Line...or he'll run and hide like normal...without ever backing his information up)

My money's on his sense of hubris, folks...Any takers on a rambling, circular logic-filled, non-speak response about "I heard on Rivals."

Come on, BC...Bring your recruiting knowledge, brosef...LOL...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
you've set the stage TE, and i will dominate you:

    here's one:
"Kenny Bell, Scout.com four-star wide receiver from Rayville High School in Louisiana, is committed to LSU, but plans to take an official visit to Alabama."
    http://www.tidesports.com/article/20081202/BONE...

h/o. i'll try to find where i saw the other one
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
    LOL...

Kenny Bell would no longer BE an LSU commitment if he took an official visit to another school...

Do me a favor, BC...Ask me if you want me to give you a DIRECT QUOTE FROM KENNY BELL...LOL...

Or would you rather one from his coach? Perhaps his parents? I can obtain all VEEEEEEEEEEERY easily...

Seriously...I'm going to give you an opportunity to back out....

This Bama Recruiting site trash has gone on long enough, and I know we're not a Recruiting Website here, but I'm ready to make you look REALLY bad, anytime you decide to reach your hand up to the stove...

So, I'm asking you-ONE MORE TIME-do you want me to post direct quotes from player, coach, and family?

Just curious...You let me know, little 'un...

    Hey TE,

I did watch this kid from Paris, TN (Henry Co) Friday night, Dominique Allen, who backed out of TN after Fulmer got fired & committed to LSU. Needless to say..I was not impressed. Even though it was just one game, I still wasn't inpressed. I know he is a 'lower' ranked guy, but still...ya know.
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
We're going away from the I-Formation, but we will still need a situational blocking back, and he fits that bill for us...

We've had some guys who've watched him play, and are of an opinion opposite of yours...But, hey...You never know...

I know he's the 5th rated FB in America...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
youre right, youre not following me.

i've been saying auburn should fire Tuberville ever since Saban got the #1 recruiting class in the country.
Alabama was beating them in recruiting, they were losing in the SEC, and finally, the straw that broke the camel's back was Alabama dominating on the field of play.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
No way to get back up? Man, you've lost your mind. You let that euphoria keep seeping through your veins, though, because the last time you felt it, you were in middle school.

It's fans like you that's going to cause Saban to be a victim of his own success one day. If he goes 7-5 next year, you're first in line to call for his head.

Bammers hating Tuberville is like liberals hating Bush--they ain't going to stop even when he's gone. Hopefully, we'll give you reason to hate the new guy, too...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
i will never call for firing Saban.
    he's a good coach.
Tuberville was obviously a bad coach...
it only took him one hunting season to lose the state.
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
This was supposed to be a reply to Ramblin' Gator. Wrong spot, so I moved it. Anyway, maybe Tommy Tuberville will start making some Just For Men or Grecian Formula commercials now.

I always thought Tommy Tuberville a class act that can coach and has an undefeated season in the SEC on his record. He won't be out of work long.

Why on god's green earth would Auburn want to hire Mike Leach or Bobby "Skip Town" Petrino? Both of their systems are more trigger happy than Franklin's and every single person in the Plains and around the nation was screaming bloody murder on that one! Secondly Leach will fool around with other school and TT will give him a big contract to keep him there. Why would he leave now? He has all the pieces in place to make it happen now, and he is in one of the best states for football recruiting, and to say he beat Texas in that state goes a long way with recruits.

Petrino would be a horrible choice just by the fact that he and Franklin pretty much run the same system and if it didn't work for him why would it work for Bobby P? And yes Franklin was just the OC, either way that kinda offensive system just wont work right now. If they would have kept Franklin and TT, and waited and sold the idea of an explosive offense to kids they could have brought in the tools to make it happen out there. But instead they pulled the trigger fired Franklin and now TT and they are in a mess. You could have easily sold the idea of that offense to kids, just like Urban Meyer did at Florida, his first year wasn't great, but he hit the recruiting trail brought in player that fit his system, and the old players got use to the system and look where they are now.

Patience is key in todays world of football, and unfortunately no AD or big time Booster has it!
  • Skip1 · 1 year ago
Maybe it's because my main object of fandom is not a big-time FBS program, but I just don't get it. I don't understand how or why you would force out someone like Tuberville.

If the competitive situation Bleed Crimson writes about truly exists, AND it's a sure thing that Auburn will get a better coach than Tuberville, AND it's a sure thing that the new coach has better character than Tuberville, AND it makes sense financially to buy him out, then maybe you could make an argument for getting a new guy. But it doesn't add up. One good year at Alabama is not a reason to panic. There is more to this story and it gets to the heart of what's most wrong with college football.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
BC is about as far removed from the truth with his argument that you can get and still be on the same planet...
  • ROLLTIDE_73 · 1 year ago
I for one am surprised I really thought he had one more year at least as we spoke about on a different blog.Well Good Luck on the search I'm sure AU will find a good fit.I'm sure they will be looking for a coach that will be able to put the spread in place...did i read were you said Leach is on the list that kind of announcement could save the recruits
  • Tyler_Tech · 1 year ago
I have a hard time believeing an SEC school would give leach a chance. I guess it depends how much pull their boosters have, but I really dont see a program wanting to hire him out of the SEC. I am alot more worried about Wash right now. I still think he will stay, but what Leach's agent said does not really look good. He kind of took a shot at Myers and Hance by saying they are not negotiating. I keep hearing that recruiting is alot better every other place than TECH. I do not keep up with Auburn football but, I remember our second string QB transfered and started this year at Aurburn. Is the recruiting that much better at AU?
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
That's one of the reasons Tuberville got fired.
Auburn has the potential to bring in a good recruiting class. Tommy just wasn't getting the job done.
but, i think at least in recent years, Texas has been the best state for HS QBs
  • Tyler_Tech · 1 year ago
Yeah looks like they have a pretty good class so far, but it is all how you finish in recruiting. I just wanna get something done with the coaching situation. If we don't maintain Leach it will be an ugly fallout for both parties, and our athletic director will probably be blamed which isn't good either.
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
it looks like they have an okay class so far, but that's because their class is finished. most other schools are only about 3/4 done with theirs.
they'll be lucky to land in the top 20.
  • Cobia · 1 year ago
Man I'm really going to miss Tommy Tuberville. I've onyl been an Auburn fan since, 2006, but I really liked the guys character and presence. This is really a sad day on the plains. I just hope they have someone really good ready, because I would hate to see Tuberville replaced by a bellow average sucessor. I would like: Mike Leach, Jim Leavitt, Steve spurrier, Bob Stoops, Paul Johnson, Pete Carrol etc... BTW do you guys think Howard Schnellenberger would be good? I mean the guy did create Miami out of nothing.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Yea, but we don't need the spectre of how Snellenburger did it at Miami hanging over us...

Sorry, Cobia, but Stoops and Carrol don't leave programs like OU and USC for Auburn. You have to be more realistic..

Leavitt is a possibility, although his stock isn't up like it was a year ago...
  • Cobia · 1 year ago
I know we could never get carrol, or Stoops, but I can dream can't I. BTW do you think Bill Cowhers would be up for that job, and do think Muschamp would be a good head coach?
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
    BC
Your nuts and certainly have no idea about AU football.
Auburn had the #5 recruiting class this year according to Scout.com.
That will go away quickly. This was the work of Bobby Lowder and he has been trying to do this since 2003.
It had very little to do with this season other then an unexpected oppurtunity for Lowder to do what hes wanted to do since he orchestrated Jetgate.
This is about money and boosters, and AU should be embarassed.
Montez Robbins,Terrance Coleman have already decommited since hearing the news.
Im certain more will follow. This was an absolutely stupid move .

Im sure youll get a kick out of it just because your a Bama fan but id rather you not make such ignorant comments about it being a good move.
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
haha. right now, it's not looking good.
it all depends on the hire.
if y'all don't get mike leach, chris peterson, paul johnson, or someone better, you can go ahead and kiss the next decade goodbye

and youre right, i'm getting a HUGE kick out of this.
    remember, "Tuberville owns Saban"....

    UPDATE:

    wow. now this is ridiculous.
here are some calls from coach dunn's and coach enzminger's wifes to a local radio show.

coach dunn was recruiting at a high school and found out from the high school coach, that he was being fired.
coach enzminger got a call while he was in Raymond Cotton's house to tell him that he was fired. (any wonder why he de-commited)

listen to the calls, and you can see this mess is much worse than it appears:
it's actually pretty sad. no joke. auburn sucks.

  • Bama_Babe · 1 year ago
    Look, my fellow Alabama dear,

The Auburn fans on here are not like the ones that I'm sure you know personally. There is no reason to come on here saying "auburn sucks" and what not. Feel free to act like that to another fan that has given you hell in the past, but these fans have not been bad sports about beating us during the streak. So just because their program has hit a downfall, and just because we beat them this year, doesn't mean you should come on here and be a bad sport. I can't stand sore fans - winners or losers. Don't mean to sound like a mother here but I don't like fans that give us others a bad name. Lord knows there are plenty of those that wear crimson and white....

    Anyway, Roll Tide!
Good Luck on your finals next week.
    ;)
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
    BB

Honestly im embarrased by the actions of AU. BC cant really do much to make that worse. Hes just immature and quite frankly AU deserves what ever critisim it gets from this.

I for one actually enjoyed having a program that was run cleanly and without worry of suspension. I liked the fact that the players were graduating,
I enjoyed being competitive even if we didnt win a NT.
Some people ( Lowder) just need to go away.
  • Bama_Babe · 1 year ago
I understand that. I just believe that the criticism should not be directed towards you or any other fan on this blog. The school? Sure.
But I'm just trying to play fair.
I usually don't throw the punch until the b!tch hits me. :)

But carry on like ya'll were. I won't interfere anymore.
  • Kevin @ Fanblogs · 1 year ago
I think you are right on - stay on 'em and let's keep this playground clean.
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
well when i said "auburn sucks," i was actually referring to the powers that be, in Auburn, who handled the situation so poorly.
i feel bad for the families involved. if you listen to the calls, you can hear how the families and coaches found out they were fired long after the media did.

and just so ya know, i really don't care what you or any other poster on here thinks of me or my posts. i'm always going to say what i want without a politically correct filter. if that means i will never get a golden star by my name, so be it.

oh, and good luck on your finals as well and Roll Tide!!
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
    BC,

If I can get one by my name, it doesn't take much...

It's called a little bit of class...

But, we've seen the "class" you exude here...

Whether it was your upbringing, or that attitude is completely your own doing, you're a sad representation of your fanbase on a site that a lot of people read around the nation...

    You stay classy, BC...
  • "BC" · 1 year ago
    haha. i'll keep my attitude.
    thanks.
i just think it's funny how you obviously feel so inferior to me. even when my shots aren't directed at you, you try to take one at me.
i really don't have anything to say really, except i look forward to your negative comment on the next thing i say.
how many jokes do you have? how long can you keep it up?
i mean, i knew those LSU fans could talk some trash, but my god, you've brought it to a new level. you're even talking trash after an embarrassing season.
also, have you realized that since Les Miles has been the coach at LSU, he's always lost as many, or more games than the season before it?
if that's not a team on a decline i don't know what is.

    you stay classy, TE...

    Wow.......
You are right that is rediculous. Some heads need to roll for that crap, but I know they won't. That is exactly what I am talking about. This is the very thing Leach tries to avoid. If anyone from Aurburn thinks Leach will go into that sort of crap, they are wrong. He is not going to go into a program with a "Jerry Jones" type AD calling the shots, and gonna boot his butt out the door when it takes him 4 years to put his system in.
I also thought it was funny she said Saban pays recruits. I'll bet you enjoyed that one BC. haha. Man I really underestimated this rivalry......
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 1 year ago
Our AD Jay Jacobs, is more of a puppet of one of the trustees, Bobby Lowder. I honestly feel we should clean the whole house and get rid of him, too.
  • AUtigerman · 1 year ago
    Wea

I actually wasnt joking when i stated earlier that Tubbs would have made a great AD.

IMO he is the only one that stood up to Lowder and he was hated for it. Your absolutely right though, Jacobs is certainly a pinnochio. However most AU fans know who is pulling his strings.
  • MariettaWarEagle · 1 year ago
Hey BC -- don't let facts get in the way of your deluded sense of reality!! Your hatred shows. Yes, I have disliked Bama for years, but that team whipped our team for the first time in seven years, so I will give them their due accolades. You are like so many fans of several schools I can name -- all mouthy hate talk. Tubs made mistakes this year and I don't understand or agree with his logic, but at least he started correcting the mess in the middle of the season. I wouldn't start talking "dynasty" too quickly -- in one or two years, whoever is at AU, will be once again in the mix for the West. You probably didn't even attend UA, did you????!!

    WEA,

Intriguing Question....I thought TW was the man for the job 4 years ago. not sure why I want the Huskies to succeed since they are our dispised rival. But 0-12, good lord there's no fun in beating a rival like that. Would you rather Alabama be pathetic and an easy mark year after year (ok, so they have been in the Iron Bowl recently up until this season).

It would be fun to have a little SEC experience come out the USC + 9, no defense, weak ass league we call the Pac 10.

The only person I don't want to see go to UW is Chip Kelly. Like Tedford at Cal (and before him John McKay and John Robinson at USC) he would be a pain in our butt. EX-UO coaches are our major contibution to the Pac.

  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
Personally, I'm not having any trouble at all with load times. I guess my experience doesn't matter at all, due to the connection I have, but I just thought that I'd throw that in there. I have had load problems in the past, but not now.

On a different note, who are you hearing for the DC job at LSU?
  • TigerEducated · 1 year ago
Hell...G-Mail's actually still in Beta, isn't it? LOL...I've been using it for 4 of 5 years now...

    As for LSU's Defensive Coordinator...

I've heard Chavis already talked with Miles over the phone, and then did a more formal interview over the phone again...But, I hear Clemson's making a push for him...He might be able to bring both of his DL coaches (I believe Chavis has separate coaches for DT & DE) and we don't have that much wiggle room amongst our staff (contrary to popular belief, the NCAA limits the # of total assistants you can have on staff)....

If he's not there, then its Vic Koennig...What were your thoughts on his defenses?
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
VK was great statistically. He ran a "bend but don't break" style that I don't really care for. I can't fault him too much, since the defense usually did fairly well under him. You just won't see many shutouts at all with that style. He rarely blitzes and he doesn't run man press really at all.
  • The_Observer · 1 year ago
It's not perfect, but it's still in beta isn't it? It does load this site very quickly though.

The only other browser I've used is IE though.
  • Clemson_Joe · 1 year ago
    Yep.

Mozilla Firefox is your huckleberry, my man.

Give it a shot. I can share some extremely cool tricks with you once you get a bit used to it. The best is holding CTRL while clicking on a link causes a new tab to open. So, you can open a new site while not leaving the one you're already on. IE has attempted to replicate this feature, but I still like Firefox better. Also, keywording searches is extremely helpful. For instance, if I want to read a wiki article on wichita massacre, I just type "w wichita massacre" in the URL, and I'm there. It's not necessary, but it is very cool.
  • The_Observer · 1 year ago

A few more years and he will be somewhere making some program and their fan base very happy. He might be a good fit at AU considering he loves to run the ball with big aggressive backs and a hard lined D, similar to the Nebraska Black Shirt D of the olden days.

    This is Hilarious......................

BCS DECLARES GERMANY WINNER OF WORLD WAR II
    US Ranked 4th

After determining the Big-12 championship game participants the BCS
computers were put to work on other major contests and today the BCS
declared Germany to be the winner of World War II.

"Germany put together an incredible number of victories beginning with the
annexation of Austria and the Sudetenland and continuing on into conference
play with defeats of Poland, France, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and
the Netherlands. Their only losses came against the US and Russia; however
considering their entire body of work--including an incredibly tough
Strength of Schedule--our computers deemed them worthy of the #1 ranking."

Questioned about the #4 ranking of the United States the BCS commissioner
stated "The US only had two major victories--Japan and Germany. The
computer models, unlike humans, aren't influenced by head-to-head
contests--they consider each contest to be only a single, equally-weighted
    event."

German Chancellor Adolph Hiter said "Yes, we lost to the US; but we
defeated #2 ranked France in only 6 weeks." Herr Hitler has been criticized
for seeking dramatic victories to earn 'style points' to enhance Germany's
rankings. Hitler protested "Our contest with Poland was in doubt until the
final day and the conditions in Norway were incredibly challenging and
demanded the application of additional forces."

The French ranking has also come under scrutiny. The BCS commented " France
had a single loss against Germany and following a preseason #1 ranking they
    only fell to #2."

Japan was ranked #3 with victories including Manchuria, Borneo and the
    Philippines.
  • Tom_Blogical · 1 year ago
LOL! That's pretty good. Thanks for sharing that.
  • NMLSooner · 1 year ago
