Fanblogs.com: Top 10 'Pot-Stirring' Coaches

  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
Leach has to be #2 behind Kiffin,
    Gundy has earned a spot
Where is Miles?, Saban & Weis?
  • USC1801 · 6 months ago
Spurrier #1 trouble maker? You've got to be kidding; Kiffen has said more in the last few months than Spurrier has in the last 4 years. If you read Spurriers recent comments regarding Meyer and ND, they are about as tame as you get.
  • Ben Prather · 6 months ago
Does leading your team to an undefeated season, including a BCS bowl win over the highest paid coach, count as stirring the pot?

How about if you do so while maintaining an even keeled poise?

Besides, isn't it best to stir the pot on the field?

(P.S. that Gundy speak is still awesome)
  • OU_Ron · 6 months ago
Kiffin is just getting warmed up.......
  • Ramblin' Gator · 6 months ago
I'm wondering what Lane will do for an encore - you know, after he's lost a few games.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

  • OU_Ron · 6 months ago
He just needs to grow up RG, it's like a kid coaching kid's..
  • TheMayor · 6 months ago
Bob Stoops "even keel?" There's not one college football fan in Oregon or Washington that would agree with that statement. He's one of the biggest whiners to ever come to the Northwest.
  • OU_Ron · 6 months ago
LMAO......I guess when you get hosed by someone, you tell em thanks and I'll be sure to come back so you can do it again.
  • TheMayor · 6 months ago
I was referring to his comments about never playing a Pac-10 team at home again after getting hosed at Oregon. That was just plain dumb.
  • OU_Ron · 6 months ago
Maybe so Mayor, but he did go back and play Washington......and he didn't get hosed.......I guess his comments worked.
  • TheMayor · 6 months ago
Good lord, no amount of bad/crooked officiating could of helped the hapless Huskies.

We welcome the Sooners matchup anytime in the future, your fans were great both home, away and at the Holiday Bowl a few years ago.
  • NMLSooner · 6 months ago
Stoops biggest issue with playing at a Pac-10 school is the conferences policy on using Pac-10 officials at home. Most conferences switch this. You come to Norman we use Pac-10 officials. We come to Eugene we use Big XII officials. And you gotta admit that was the hose job of all hose jobs. Oregon offsides, touched the ball before it went ten yards, and OU'S ALLEN PATRICK STANDING THERE WITH THE BALL IN THE AIR AFTER HE RECOVERED THE KICKOFF!!!!!!!
Yes, I still have issues with letting go.
  • Bevo_Boy · 6 months ago
Now I think I'd get yelled at if I mentioned how Texas got hosed, so I think I'll have to ask you to let it go. lol
  • NMLSooner · 6 months ago
A<B<C<A Doesn't make sense does it? So if Texas would have been chosen would you have said Texas Tech got hosed? Or did OU eliminate themselves by beating the living crap out of a team Texas couldn't beat? I know your loss was on the road, but how many points do you get? We beat a team that scored late to beat you by six (they controlled most of the game), by 44! I think it evens out your neutral field, in the state of Texas, win. I will say this if Texas would have won the tie-breaker I would not have been saying OU got hosed. In college football if you lose a game, you take your chances.
  • Bevo_Boy · 6 months ago
I have let it go, but I think it's odd that you are allowed to dwell on the past but Texas is not. Now you're about to mention that refs took that game from OU, right? Well, how different is it if pollsters/Big XII officials decide that isn't worthy because: A) OU runs up the score more than Texas, or B) Texas cannot get a rematch because they are not in the Big XII North?
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
    Its Okay No Mans Land
how about lose to your biggest rival and still land a spot in the MNC game-Hosed ya OK-whatever
Look UO screwed yall and yall's coach whined about it and he should have, because yall got beat- of course that same season Texas also beat yall and so did Boise St-so whatever
I watched yalls A&M game that year also-squeezed by because of poor A&M coaching or yall woulda had four losses that year 12 champs-ya right-
The CCg game that year featured Nebraska & Oklahoma two teams that Texas beat-give it a break old ancient history
Yall won a bowl one time I remember it was Oregon-right?
    Hookem-Horns 5 straight bowl wins
  • NMLSooner · 6 months ago
Not a bad season for a team that lost its returning qb one day before fall practice started Then had to move a guy that had spent then end of the previous season and the spring playing wr back to starting qb. Did you also watch the UT-OU game that year? Did you see Thompson throw a forward pass to Peterson that was ruled a lateral that UT ran in for the decisive TD when OU seemed to be coming back? And yes we lost to undefeated Boise State in overtime when they perfectly executed three trick plays to win by one in one of the greatest cf games of alltime. Why weren't the mighty longhorns in the ccg? BECAUSE THEY LOST TO K-STATE AND TO TEXAS A&M! Speaking of barely escaping with a win, how about UT's trip to Lincoln that year.
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
Yes I watched the game, saw the Horns win 28-10 recalling from memory. I really didnt watch the K-St game that year I was cleaning a deer football season and deer season kind of clash at times. I understand our rookie QB threw some picks in that game, and the A&M game that year was some of the dirtiest plays ever witnessed by your truley-Hitting the QB from behind after the whistle while he is walking to the bench-inexcusable.
The A&M vs OU game that year was a classic example of how not to coach- drive the ball all day and instead of going for it on 4th down kick for 3 twice or three times I cant remember-
Texas vs Nebraska has always been a good game- a victory in the snow in front of a sea of red- is purty OK by me.
    Hookem-Horns
We might have lost a couple that year, but the Horns still beat OU and won their Bowl and thats what really matters. Both teams finished the season with 3 losses, which for Texas or OU fans just aint good enough-other teams would be tickled to have 10 or 11 wins.
We are real fortunate to have two really great teams in the B-12 south like Texas & Oklahoma two of the best year in and year out.
  • OU_Ron · 6 months ago
Oregon didn’t beat OU…it was a group of incompetent Pac 10 ref’s that did that.

Stoops didn’t say anything about the Oregon football team, his comments were directed at the Pac 10 officials……..one of the most blatant, if not “ the most blatant screw jobs in the history of college football…..if that’s whining, then so be it..
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
    I agree Ron-those Pac-10 refs got yall
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 6 months ago
Give me your top five then, Mayor.
  • TheMayor · 6 months ago
Jim Tressel (OSU), Mike Riley (OSU Beavers), Jim Harbaugh (Stanford), Greg Schiano (Rutgers), Chris Petersen (Boise State) come to mind.

I would have put Bellotti on the list but I didn't want to be too much of a homer, that and the fact that Pete Carroll brings out the worst in Mike Bellotti....
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 6 months ago
Riley ain't too bad, especially for an Alabama man. That's certainly non-homerish of you to nominate him.

Bellotti and my pick, Tuberville, are no longer coaches, so I guess we can't nominate them.
  • TheMayor · 6 months ago
Good luck this season. I am excited about our chance as we have a favorable schedule this year (home games). I acquired my Boise State Blue Turf Tickets this afternoon.

I was stationed 60 minutes SE of Boise, got married there in 1978 and my daughter was born there in 1979. Have not been back since 1981...looking forward to a "watermelon" at Humpin' Hannas if they are still there.

  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
Hey BC looks like yall got the best coach, the best recruits and some of the most zealous fans in America. In all honesty I believe that Bama will be the team to be reckoned with the next several years.
I would love to see a Texas vs Bama game good luck next season
BTW I'll be pullin for Ole Miss to win the west- Nutt is a great coach and knows how to do the best with what he's got.

  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
Wouldn't want to cover that Tat with a snuggie-its the Bear
  • OU_Ron · 6 months ago
TC, if that's actually a picture of Br#1 next to his name, he can wear or not wear anything he wants to....as far as I'm concerned ;-)
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
I imagine so- that boy has got it going on
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
bama-R-number1 I know that Texas 08 woulda played Bama 08 a great game, because I dont think yall coulda outscored Texas, yall'defense might of helled Texas to under 50 points, but yalls offense could'nt score enough to win the game- Now this is 09 and every year is different, yall might have improved a little-maybe, but I think that year in and year out Texas can beat anybody including Bama

  • bama_R_number_one · 6 months ago

    Bama R # 1? Really?

    Ignorance must be fantastic bliss.
  • "BC" · 6 months ago
    c'mon joe.
please tell me you know he's joking.

look at his profile. he set the entire thing up to make bama fans look stupid.
which is pretty sad considering how much time he spends doing this.

every post essentially says the same thing, and is laced with intentional misspellings.

please tell me im not the only one that realized this!
  • OU_Ron · 6 months ago
I'll agree with you BC.......if we stop responding to his posts, maybe he will drift away...
  • bama_R_number_one · 6 months ago

  • Clemson_Joe · 6 months ago
I actually had not looked at his profile. I'd have to agree with you after reading that. Ignoring from now on.
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
You mean that you don't fit the stereotype projected by this uneducated individual.
To tell you the truth BC he is probably a Tiger fan either AU or LSU.
I knew it was kinda funny when he stated that his power got cut off, down here we would say my lights got cut off- Or if that really happened out of pride we would simply omit that from our posts.
In his profile he claimed to have 6th grade education- same as Jethro Bodine-

    Bama-R #1
Paul Bryant's all time record against Texas 1-7-1
he only beat Texas 1 time in his coaching carrer at that was at Texas A&M- You look it up thats the truth- Bama tied Texas 1 time in a bowl-thats it
The Guy tatooed on you back lost to Texas 7 times
    Hookem-Horns
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
Bama R #1 Hold on there,I didn't call you no insulting names. Look Bama can't beat anybody-they got beat by Utah & Florida, yall was just plum lucky in the Ole miss game.
BTW Until yall beat Texas, then and only then can you claim #1,because Bama aint never beat Texas, even when the Bear was yalls coach-Texas still beat bama every time and thats a fact
    Hookem Horns the real#1

    BC

You shouldnt be so rude to your brother in arms.
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
I have to agree, come on BC- just remember you might need help as the off-season gets longer and longer
  • Cobia · 6 months ago
BC c'mon that's no way to treat your family.
  • Ben Prather · 6 months ago
I usually don't feed the trolls, but well done. Usually we are better at ignoring ya'll that this.

It is slow, so maybe we are just bored.

    Anyhow, as for SABAN,

All your base are belong to us!
  • Zac · 6 months ago
I'm surprised Holts & Joe Pa weren't mentioned. Joe Pa seems to be stirring it more off the field then on. Holtz isn't even coaching, but he sure drives the guys on ESPN nuts, especially Mark May.
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 6 months ago
Crap, reminds me of us. Generating talk until the season starts.
  • Zac · 6 months ago
When does it start? Did you say tomorra, huh, can it, huh, can it??????
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 6 months ago
Since we're starting the season off Zac, I'm putting up a link that will show you precisely when it starts, at any time of the day or night.

  • Zac · 6 months ago
Cool!!! We got ourselves a count-down. (There's just too many numbers on it right now.) Of course, there is the color crimson, nicely set off by a silver pendant. That kept me distracted for...oh...12 or so seconds. What else ya got?
  • USC1801 · 6 months ago
Zac, remember - you DID ask!! And when you ask one Gamecock, well, you ask 'em all!

Since you really seem to want to turn GARNET (not crimson, dude - besides, if you're going to change, ya gotta get it right), here is a little something special for you and yours:

    Go to:
    http://gamecocksonline.cstv.com/

Then, scroll down below the heading "The Master Plan" and drag the graphic titled "The ULTIMATE South Carolina Gamecock Fan Tool!" up to your browsers toolbar.

You are now set to become INVOLVED! Not for 12 seconds but for the WHOLE SEASON!!! Goooooooo GAMECOCKS!!

(Ah, you gotta love football season! I can already feel the competitive masses yearning to be free!)
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 6 months ago
Thanks for setting Zac upon the correct path 1801. I am positive that everyone appreciates your gracious sharing.

LOL, subtle joke that one is. " (Ah, you gotta love football season! I can already feel the competitive masses yearning to be free!)".
  • Zac · 6 months ago
Yeah, besides, Garnet is alright. My birthstone is Garnet.
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 6 months ago
I agree, too many numbers. It kinda reminds me of a scrubbed launch at Cape Canaveral. Speaking of things Fla., did you see this.......

Did Spurrier take any shots back at Kiffin yet? That guy really deserves it, and it's not like Spurrier to hold back. Certainly he's said something and I've just missed it.
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 6 months ago
I'm hoping his team just says it on the field at Tenn.
  • DuckNut · 6 months ago
Spurrier, Kiffen, and Meyer are my top 3. Though, I'm interested in what (and how) Kelly will do in his tenure - he's already pissed off more than a few Hushington Fuskie fans.

    Go Ducks!
  • Ramblin' Gator · 6 months ago
    Okay, coming clean...

I've never been a fan of the whole Annakin Skywalker - "if you're not with me, you're my enemy" - line of thinking. It just seems petty and small-minded to discard the opinions of those who disagree with you and assume that they are somehow against you.

Regarding Shane Matthews, Urban Meyer should STFU.

    Go Gators!!
  • Clemson_Joe · 6 months ago
I have to agree with your line of thinking, but I'm not familiar with the story. Please share.
  • Ramblin' Gator · 6 months ago
    Here's a good synopsis:

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/columnist/lopres...

I often feel Meyer gets unreasonable criticism, but he really screwed the pooch on this one.

News flash: Tennessee has self-reported ANOTHER minor recruiting violation by Lane Kiffin*

News flash: The city of Pahokee, FL has officially accepted Kiffin's Nth (actual count unknown) apology and will permit TN coaches to recruit at Pahokee High School again*

    *No, I am not joking
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 6 months ago
Can I get 250 words on the subject of Meyer and Matthews and I'll work it up into a thread on your behalf?
  • Ramblin' Gator · 6 months ago
Please confirm - I never know if you are serious.
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 6 months ago
No, actually I am serious on this one.

    Sorry you can't tell.
  • Ben Prather · 6 months ago
Heck, get 250 words on anything football related from now until the end of July and we might have something...
  • War_Eagle_Atlanta · 6 months ago
Well, Annakin was a Jedi in training when a little strange threw him off kilter, so he went over...

    Oh, you meant about Meyer?
  • USC1801 · 6 months ago
Well, I might have to retract what I said earlier about Spurrier NOT stirring the pot. . .

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=421...

heeheeeheee, go get him, Steve! Can't wait for the Tenn game!!!!
