Fanblogs Open Conference Championship Thread
No, and it never will happen. Either way - one of them won't be in the Top Five when it's all said and done. I can't understand why Oklahoma State has risen - when Missouri has been exposed as a complete joke. Who else has Oklahoma State beaten?
You're a smart one; that's for sure.
USC has played the 13th most difficult schedule in the country right now. That rates higher than any other team in the Top Ten. Texas is about 24th and Georgia is about 22nd. Oklahoma State has played the 87th most difficult schedule. Their day is on the way.
Texas has the #24th toughest schedule- Do What??
They play 4 top ten teams 7 ranked opponents
probably the #1 toughest schedule in the country period
Stanford,Org st, AZ, AZ st, Cal, UCLA,tOSU,UVa or
FAU,UTEP,Rice,Ark,Colo,OU,Missu,OK St,TTech,KU,BU,A&M KU or Missu again no comparison Tommie
This is gonna be hard to understand - but I'll do the best I can. Texas has played Florida Atlantic, UTEP, Arkansas, Rice and Colorado. All five of those lousy teams are on the schedule. Therefore, they count as part of the schedule strength. That's why your overall schedule is ranked around 24th. And, 24th isn't too bad. In fact - it's pretty good. Figure that there are 120 Division I teams - and that puts you in the Top 20%. With the brutal schedule that Texas will now be playing - that SOS should continue to rise. Texas should be in the Top Ten in the SOS before it's all over.
Your right. The SOS will flucuate all year long. It will stay pretty consistent from here on out. Playing bad teams does bring it down - just as playing good teams will bring it back up. I'm just using the "Sagarin Ratings" at www.sagarin.com. I think he's by far the most accurate. Some of the other "BCS Computer Rankings" are just wrong. Some have Boise at # 4. Others have Ohio State at # 4 or Ball State at # 9. They are just ridiculous. Sagarin's are always in "the ballpark". They may be a little off - but not much.
I am not ready to argue that USC is not better than Utah, but I am also not ready to argue that Utah is better than LSU.
I'll take it, and quote it, but not defend it.

What's up with this rant? Baylor, Washington State and Iowa State all suck. What's that prove - that two of them are in the Big 12? Is that your point? Does this somehow make Oklahoma State into a Top Ten team? You better just hope that they're not. Don't worry. I'm sure that they are not. Don't get me wrong, they are good, but you've got to be real good to be Top Ten. My guess is that they'll end up at around 9-3 before bowl game time.
Face UCONN, WAKE,OU,UT,OK St and TTech in the same season, They might beat Neb & A&M these guys dont suck they compete week in and week out against some of the best in the nation
It can't be done when you don't have a brain. Maybe you ought to get yourself back on the "yellow brick road". Your appointment with "the Great Oz" awaits you.
No, you hate USC because you are a loser and can't stand anything that is good. I'm not gonna go on with everything that makes you up psychologically, but the reason you hate USC so much, is probably got to do with some form of ineptness inside of yourself.
Nevermind that 3 other teams have laid more than 60 points on the pathetic Cougers. Washington St should seriosly think about cancelling their football program. Anyway, Tommie T will tell you how PC called off the Trojans or they could have scored 100 points so that's why they should be in the BCS championship game.
Fact is: Washington State has the worst defense I've seen in a long time. They need to get rid of that head coach. This is the most hapless WSU team ever. And, yes, Pete did leave some points on the table. This was purely a practice game. It means nothing.

Kev, hope you're enjoying yourself, which it sounds like you are.
Geaux Tigers
Geaux SEC
I disagree with one thing in the above analysis.
If Utah beats TCU, TCU is out, but if Utah loses to TCU in a close game they both could end up in the top 14, especially when one considers Utah would have a chance to redeem themselves against BYU.
Are you still mulling the benfits of SC football aka "As a side note, Dabo has moved Billy Napier and Jeff Scott (if you follow SC high school football, you'd know this guy does amazing things with offenses) up into the booth to help him call plays on Saturday. With those 3, I full expect to see some drastic improvements to this offense. I doubt that it can happen in one week, but we'll see."
As we see this is not SC high school football , got some bad calls, but there were some major improvements and even CH redeemed himself on a few. Have to give Korn credit pacifying a very uncomfortable situation. But wow on Kelly---we have hope---I'm still looking for a Speweik-Kelly connection. Yeah Dabo--GO CLEMSON..---you ask what this comment has to do with BCS standings---nothing ---Just wanted to say --YEAH CLEMSON.
The AQ spot for the BCS non-AQ conferences is limited to one team, so only one of Utah, TCU, Boise State, BYU, Ball State or Tulsa can claim it. Utah and TCU control thier own destiny. BYU can get a shot by beating Utah with a Boise State loss. Only the highest ranked conference champion of this group gets an AQ spot, if in the top 12 or in the top 16 and Higher than the ACC or Big East Champion.
I would argue that Oklahoma State and Texas Tech also control their own destiny. With unlikely wins over both Texas and Oklahoma they would pass Penn State. They also play each other.
Florida and Georgia, with a win over each other and Alabama in the SEC championship, could jump over Penn State as well, though this would require a few ugly close wins by Penn State or a good dose of style points.
If this standing were final the selections would be (using top ranked team as conference champion):
AQ:
Rule #1) Texas, Alabama
Rule #2) Penn State, USC, South Florida, Georgia Tech?
Rule #3) Utah
Rule #4) Oklahoma
At Large (2 slots):
SEC) One of: Georgia, Florida, LSU
Big 10) Ohio State
Other) Boise State
The likelyhood of all three of Texas, Alabama and Penn State finising undefeated is negligable. I still like Oklahoma's chances without even going to the Big 12 championship game.
Oklahoma Penn State is not an unreasonable lineup.
ohio state =overrated.
the play in pansy conferences and unless penn state wins by two touch downs, they are overrated. ill take, ut, ou, and osu against any team in the pac 10. missouri wasn;t exposed as a bad team, they were just shalacked by a very good team. they could play with any team in the pac 10 and probably any team in the big ten.
Texas, Penn State, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Florida, Oklahoma, Southern Cal, and Ohio State
As for strength in schedule, unless you are in the SEC or Big 12 you can't talk about your schedule without feeling shame. There is no comparison this year, so just on conference scheduling, the SEC and Big 12 are far superior. Granted, there wasn't any conference play in the big 12 for the first four to five weeks, so their scheduled play for those weeks were pretty weak; however these past two weeks have produced huge Big 12 conference games. When was the last time you could say that about the PAC 10. I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't try to build SoCal up on its schedule, you wont convince anyone. They are a solid team that needs to make up some ground if they want the invite to the big dance.
He's old.
