What's this - the 2nd time that that has happened? This guy may have just delayed his ascention by at least five years. After he's done getting massacred at NMS, he'll be lucky to get a job as the water-boy, working at a Division II school. What is this guy thinking? He cannot possibly get that team to win games. He's right up next to Arizona and Texas. Who's gonna not go to any of those schools - and want to spend his next five years in New Mexico? What's he gonna do? Does he think that he's gonna recruit kids to come outta "the hood" and want to go "bang" over in New Mexico? This guy has lost his mind...

Re: Walker named head coach at New Mexico State

That's probably one of the worst decisions by a good young coordinator I've ever seen.

$375K/year is less than what LSU pays its coordinators, and our recruiting coordinator approaches that salary!

Also, let's face it, NMSU is not his ultimate final destination. He's going to look for bigger and better things. The problem is, at NMSU, in order to get himself in position to do that, he will have to do something that's never been done there: Win, win consistently, and win bowl games.

He won't have the facilities, the administration's support, the players, or the ability to attract quality coaches in order to accomplish this.

The other-more logical-route would have been to come to LSU, coordinate the defense and get familiar with recruiting the South regionally, and how to call a game against top flight speed and top flight offensive coordinators. After even a modicum of success, the options are far more significant, substantial, and lucrative, I might mention.

Just a terrible decision on Walker's part.
