I'm confused. Did I make some indication that "Clemson football is back"? I was actually clarifying that the odds are stacked against us to even make a bowl. The good thing that comes from all of this is that Tommy Bowden is gone. I'm sure you can relate to that, unless of course you were asleep during the whole Mike Shula era at Alabama.

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

LOL SOUNDS LIKE CLEMSON FOOTBALL IS BACK!!!LOL ROLLTIDE

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

Keep believing Linnie/USC1801!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

USC1801/LENNIE, It's 28-0, 1st quarter do you still believe they have a chance???????

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

Ole miss-27 LSU-24 its going to be a game like that or ole miss is in trouble but i would take ole miss seeing lsu isnt great this year

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

Yes I remember it well. Head to head, and even BCS standings do not matter. It is a completely a selection by the bowls among eligible teams.

Who will bring more fans and money to the bowl game?

Texas Tech or Texas?

Some exceptions apply for the top 4, where the highest team in the BCS standings would get an automatic qualification.

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

As long as they win...don't care!
FGT!

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

yeah but it still does not answer my question...........
At large berths do not always take the higher seeded team. My point is that if OU wins out, it would come down to Texas and TTech for the at large berth, so I do not think you can justify Texas going over us to the Fiesta, because we beat them head to head reguarless of BCS rank.

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

yeah, that's what I meant !!!! ;-)

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

Unless a real upset happens, only three games matter for the Big 12's BCS slots.

Texas Tech vs Oklahoma
Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State
Big 12 Championship Game

If Texas Tech wins they will go to the Big 12 championship game.
If Oklahoma wins it will be a three way tie, unless they lose to Oklahoma State or an even greater upset occurs. The team that won head to head of the two that were not upset would go to the Big 12 Championship game. If Oklahoma beats Texas Tech then loses to Oklahoma State Texas Tech would go to the championship game.

In the even of a three way tie at a conference record of 7-1 each, the tiebreaker would be BCS standings.

Current BCS points:
Texas Tech 0.9715
Texas 0.8798
Oklahoma 0.8444

A win over Texas Tech could easily jump Oklahoma over Texas and drop Texas Tech just below Texas, but not below USC. A win over Oklahoma State would seal the deal, putting Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship game.

Now comes the final part of the equation. If Oklahoma or Texas Tech win out they will likely be in the NC Game. Texas would be ranked higher in the BCS than the loser of the Texas Tech Oklahoma game and would most likely be in the Fiesta Bowl.

What if the South loses the Big 12 championship game? This would put a team from the Big 12 North into the Fiesta Bowl. Texas, if they win out, would be higher than the SEC championship loser, putting them in the National Championship game.

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

Ole Miss-LSU game set to be on CBS next week. What if Texas, Oklahoma and Texas Tech all finish with one loss (at 11-1)? Who would play for the Big 12 Championship? Does anybody know what the tiebreakers would be? I think that whoever gets to win an extra game is gonna end up with the highest BCS rating. It'll sway some other voters at the end of the last week. Of course, if Tech beats Oklahoma, it'll be a mute point. But, if I'm not mistaken, Oklahoma has the best home record (if it's not USC) of any team over the last several years. It's a hard place to pull off a win.

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

I have a question for you both. In the event that OU HAPPENS to win out, and leapfrogs tech and texas. Who do you think is the more likley candidate to get the at large BCS berth. Tech or Texas?? Here is my reasoning.......
Since we beat Texas head to head they would take us, but I have heard alot of other twists as well.....

Re: Which Conferences will fill their Bowl slots.

Yeah, there's quite a few teams out there that do it. It's a bit ridiculous in a way, since you get credit for beating Idaho, or North Texas, but not for beating the Citadel, or even Appalachian State. I'm not complaining, since Clemson should be able to qualify without counting both, but the rule is a bit absurd. Bowls get to pick who they leave out anyway, so why not leave it up to them? It's probably so that a 6-6 Clemson type team can't go to a bowl game over a 3rd place MAC team or something.
