Fanblogs Open Conference Championship Thread
Since the formation of the B-12- two big rivalries have changed The Texas vs Arkansas used to be a big one in the old SWC days and the Oklahoma vs Nebraska alternates and is not played every year like during the B-8 years.
Texas #1 Oklahoma #2 Texas A&M- everyone else used to be Arkansas
:-)
Had Saban not come to Alabama we wouldn't even be on LSU's radar.
Great job WEA!
I know of absolutely NO ONE around here (LSU country) who thinks that way. Any SEC fan in their right mind knows that Auburn is Alabama's biggest rivalry.
On the other hand, since Saban's arrival in Tuscaloser, alot of the LSU faithful have leap-frogged Bammer over Auburn as their top choice. I differ from that point of view and keep Auburn on the top of our list. I mean, the unmitigated gall........or even flattery, if you will.....to call yourself Tigers deserves the #1 ranking, along with the obligitory beatdown of said...and I quote..."team".
Oh yeah...and there was that cigar thing a while back.
There.....that should get the faux Tigers riled up....lol.

So you're saying that we're on the top of Alabama's list? I'm confused...lol. Let me say this: On my personal ranking list of biggest rivals I have Auburn as the top, followed by Florida then Alabama. This is gaurenteed to be different from others....I just know alot of my close friends who think that way. It would wrong of me to assume all of Tiger Nation thinks that way though.
Wait.....I think you were replying toBamaBorn....soooorrrrrryyyyyyyy.

right now i'd like to see Tennessee and Auburn build their programs back up because right now it looks as though they're at ground level.
Auburn: is like a little brother to me. annoying, sometimes will give you a black eye, but you still dominate him, and when you knock him down you pick him back up and give him a hug. i love you auburn, but don't EVER get a big head.
LSU: I hate LSU, but they hate me more. They're loud and obnoxious. they try to start fights. you try to avoid them as best as possible but sometimes you just can't resist knocking one of the drunken, obnoxious coonasses in the dirt ya know? but if you look closely you'll find the respectable LSU fans who'll invite you to their tailgate for refuge, give you a cold beer, crawfish, and corn.
Tennessee: i love beating them, but it really doesn't bother me that much if we lose. they seem to be pretty good losers/winners. i dont have a problem with their fans. it's just that game you like to win, but it's all in good fun. the historical top dogs in the SEC know how to handle ups and downs in their respective programs, and it's a pretty classy rivalry overall.
of course you may have a different take. i really don't run into too many TN fans down here in Tuscaloosa, and didn't have any at my high school either so.... yeah.
It's obvious that I'm bored out here on the water...lol.

Umm, I'm an outsider to all of this, but didn't Alabama just beat Auburn for the first time in 7 years? Also, Alabama only leads by 6 wins overall. I don't think anyone of any level of delusion could seriously call that dominating.
Joe...you beat me to it. Not quite sure where this dominating force idea has come from.BC needs to put down the sauce.
Are your refering to Gene Chizak when you say (were it not for Auburn getting a new coaching staff not to mention who it is).
I know as an AU fan that many fans, myself included, were a bit taken back by this hire intially. But if you look at what he had to work with at Iowa State he had little chance to succeed.
You really have to go back to Pop Warner to find a successful coach at Iowa State and that was in the 19th century.
The major difference will be
1. A quality assistant coaching staff.
2. Quality recruiting opportunities.
3. Quality players already in place.
He will certainly be given an opportunity to succeed.
Not to mention he is one on the best defensive minds in the game.
Sorry that you dont have many friends. Perhaps you need a hug from TE
Thats funny stuff. Your what 19,20 years old ? and you think Bama has dominated AU. Well not in your lifetime they havent. And may never in your lifetime.
Good stuff. I would have figured AU and UF being more hated than we appear to be by this reckoning.
You say Tennesse shoulda' been in the West--I think AU shoulda' been put in the East--with Tenn, UGA, and of course UF--and having UA as its one crossover. UF/AU was a GREAT rivalry. (Not sure who I'd send to West, so i'll just leave the matter unaddressed). The only question thebn would be how to preserve 3rd Sat/oct, since AU and Tenn would both want UA as their crossover, and AU would get preference.
Oh well...it ain't worth fretting over now.
GO GATORS!!
Tennessee (His homer school)
and...
Alabama (at that point, still the most prestigious/standard bearer of the conference)
It's the EXACT reason we have one "permanent" opponent from the Eastern Division, and then two "floating" opponents.
To a lesser textent, the UGA/Auburn game and its traditional rivalry was an impetus for this same scheduling formula.
Notice that LSU was given Florida as their permanent opponent? Hmmm...
