    Um, no.

C-USA lost big when they lost LOU, USF, CINC, and most importantly TCU. Unlike the MWC, they also operate in the same regions as BCS heavyweights like the SEC and Big 12.

I don't think C-USA will be a major player for some time to come unless a few of their programs have a few years of back-to-back-to-back 10-11 win seasons like BSU and UTAH...

Given money and lucrative markets is what motivates those running the Big East, I don't understand why they haven't figured out that they can expand the football side of the house and still keep their mega-plex. ECU should be in the Big East. It is a large enough school with a sufficient fan-base and is located in a worthy market. Not to mention, it helps to open the doors for recruiting in that area.

ECU has played a number of what are currently Big East schools in the past; often playing at least 2 in the same season. Though ECU only began football in 1932, its teams have still earned a higher winning percentage than three current Big East members Louisville, Rutgers, & Cincinnati. Eh, a subject for anudder debate.

Thanks Ben for starting a thread thats not SEC
C-USA does have 12 teams and a CCG game
Looking at some of the OCC games
SMU vs SFA -the ponys might win one-I dunno
U of H @ OK St Cowboys are gonna killem at Stillwater
UTEP @ Texas you can say 35 point spread
Tulane @ LSU looks like a easy win for Los Tigres
Rice @ Texas Tech Rice lost its offense from last year-In Lubbock-geeze
Rice @ OK State Cowboys Big
Tulsa @ Oklahoma I'll be pullin for Tulsa
    S Miss @ Kansas Jayhawks
    UAB @ Texas A&M Aggies
All these games look way lopsided to me
  • Zac · 6 months ago
I dunno, TC. I like that S MS/KS match-up. True, the Jayhawks have Reesing coming back for his Sr year, and he will no doubt get his yards passing, but S MS has been tough in the past and seems to be getting back to form following a coaching change following the end of 2 seasons ago. I think this one could be down right entertaining.
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
Maybe Zac But I dunno S Miss beat E Carl last year lost to UTEP,Rice AU and 3 other teams- KU hung tough in the B-12 beat Missu and won back to back bowls- The Jayhawks are at home- if they were in the C-USA they would probably be undefeated.
  • Zac · 6 months ago
TC, I didn't say or even indicate S MS would win in Lawrence, but I did say it would be entertaining. In fact, if you look at all 6 of S MS's losses last year, only 2 (at then #9 Auburn & against then #15 Boise St) were by more than 14 pts. All the rest were by 7 pts or less. The UTEP loss was in 3 OT's. As I said: Entertaining.

Looking at KS, what a difference a few teams being back on their schedule last year makes over the year before. The Jayhawks did distinguish themselves well at OK & NE, but look what TX Tech & your Longhorns did to them. I had figured them for 6-6, but the win at Mizzu was a pleasant surprise; the momentum of which I feel helped them win their bowl game. So, I remain in my opinion: S MS @ KS, of the match-ups you mentioned will be the least lop-sided and most fun to watch.

Now, I know it's not CUSA, but one of the games I'm really looking forward to is TX @ WY. While I think it'll be lop-sided, I can't wait to see how your Horns handle the atmosphere up there, and how the Cow Boys handle your horns with Dave Christensen in his 1st year at the helm. Caaaaan't WAIT!!!

Its all cool Zac- entertaining perhaps
C-USA games that look somewhat entertaining to me anyway
    Bowling Green @ Marshal----------looks close
Buff @ UCF-------Golden Knights at home
FAU @ UAB---------come on beat coach Howard
U of H @ Miss st------- great offense against SEC defense
    Buff @ UTEP---------Sept in Sunbowl 100+ degrees
SMU @ Wash st-----somebody has to win
    UTEP @ New Mex st-------Miners
Vandy @ Rice-------Vandy should be favored
  • Zac · 6 months ago
    I agree; good match-ups all!

Watch out for Buffalo at UCF & UTEP. Turner Gill has his Bulls believe'n!

BG looked decent at times last year. Even in Huntington, the Falcons (Don Nehlan's ole team) just might take the Herd.

Vandy may be favored in their match-up; RICE will give em all they can handle. This one might be decided in OT.

FAU (the same boyz that embarrassed your horns a little a couple a seasons back) against the team nobody likes to play. That's another one that could go into OT.

MS St will be coming off a downhill home stand, starting with LSU followed by GA Tech, before finishing with Houston. Depending upon how the Dawgs fare in those two could impact whether or not the Coug's have a chance in Starkville.
  • 1Tomcat · 6 months ago
    Zac do what?
I was at the game Texas 52-FAU 10
They whuped FAU in Austin by 42 points
Your probably thinking about UCF during the 07 season
UT couldn't do anything right-never open a new stadium on the road- still got the W-ugly game
I agree that the Buffs have improved alot under Gill these games look good.
Rice lost two great players to the NFL, plus lost Chase Clement the record setting QB- Coach Baliff will have his hands full with Vandy
    Hookem

TC, when you're right, you're right. Shoulda double checked that UCF game. I have to agree, though. TX was the better team; they just didn't play like it. Talk about being all over the map in that game. The good news: Your boyz pulled it out, as well they should have. I still think FAU at UAB could be entertaining. If nothing else, it's evenly matched.

i don't like east carolina, and its gonna be a thursday night game, late in the season, it has to be relevant, it has to be either 1. the only loss on the ECU schedule, or 2. a win over a marquee non-conference team, i.e., a bowl team, ECU HAS TO HAVE A GOOD SEASON, a lot of hokies fans think this could seriously be it for a national title run for at least the next 3 years, if not again next year, and ECU has to show it can be good to us
  • U.of S.C.1978 · 6 months ago
An as usual state of affairs. Appalachian kicks Michigan's azz, wins their Championship, and needs the MWC to add Boise so that they can get a bowl bid.

    "Will CUSA get their day???'

    No...
  • Zac · 6 months ago
Gee wiz, Foster, why mince words and waste all that rhetoric beat'n round the bush like that. If ya gots something to say, just come out and say it. (Don't make no sense talk'n with this guy; ya can't get in a word edgewise...)
  • fosterkeats · 6 months ago
Sometimes I am a man of few words...

If a team like Tulane goes 12-0, beats some reeally good teams like LSU out of conference, and wins the CUSA Championship game, and there are BCS teams with one loss, then I would seriously consider it...

Wait, that happened to the Green Wave in 1998...

    @ Cincinnati 52-34
    @ SMU 31-21
    Navy 42-24
    So Miss 21-7
    Louisville 28-22
    @ Rutgers 52-24
    LA Lafayette 72-20
    @ Memphis 41-31
    @ Army 49-35
    Houston 48-20
    La Tech 63-30
    BYU 41-27 (Liberty Bowl)

Well, there was no big-time BCS school in there, and they only finished 7th in the final poll...

    Thanks for the info
U of H, Rice,SMU & TCU used to belong to SWC same goes for Arkansas, so Texas has faced those teams a lot over the years.
Since the formation of the B-12 those teams have dropped off alot the exceptions being TCU & Arkansas
BTW love to see a Texas vs Bama matchup- the networks would be drooling- two of the great historic programs with huge fanbases
  • Ben Prather · 6 months ago
Nice. For those not paying attention:

Current MWC members 4, Alabama 3

    TCU 3-2
    Utah 1-0
    BYU 0-1

The Big 12 is the only other conference whose members have earned a winning record vs. Alabama.

    No bias here... Carry on.

Your Utes have a pretty good tradition of heritage vs some of the other other conferences as well:

    ACC: 2-1
BIG 12: 28-48-3, 24-30-3 vs Colorado, 0-4 vs Iowa St
    Big East: 6-0
    Big 10+1: 7-8
CUSA: 30-18, 25 wins vs UTEP
    MTN West: 226-129-10
Pac 10: 51-89-3, 19-15 vs Arizona, 31-74-3 vs the rest
    SEC: 1-6, thanks Bama
    Sun Belt: 1-0,
WAC: 120-66-7, 76-28-4 vs Utah St
    MAC: 0-0
  • Ben Prather · 6 months ago
Though it is a losing mark, I like this one too:

USC: 3-6, including 1 win in our current bowl winning streak.

The 60's through mid 80's were hard on Utah.
