Fanblogs Open Conference Championship Thread
As for making a selection from those available in the NFL, I got 3 names for ya: Robinson, Wannstedt, & Weiss (just to name a few). With little exception, their teams haven't been exactly stellar.
I will give this to WA. At least they gave Ty Willingham a chance.

Dont think that someone who has already invested so much is gonna jump ship while its riding high to rebuild or start all over again- Just cant see it- Texas Tech is the perfect place for this guy were his team gets to play OU, UT, Ok St and A&M every season.
BTW I love his sideline interviews and press conferences they are really purty cool.
One time during the B-12 media day he told the reporters" look guys we are all gonna tell you the same thing"- during a halftime he told the reporter " have a happy halftime" as he continued to run towards the locker room.

Don James built the Washington program into a very good team for very many years. He's been long gone for a long time now. Rick Nueheisel was able to win some games - but I think that happened with James' players. Besides, he really wasn't there for very long. Other than what James had accomplished - Washington has gone way down hill. Like I said, Oregon and Oregon State, were not as good back in the day. Now, those two programs have outstanding coaches, who are recruiting the State of Washington. The Washington job is gonna be very difficult to rebuild. Kiffen could probably be able to work with the QB Jake Locker. Kiffen tried to recruit him to come to USC. If Kiffen could get Locker "up to speed" - it may well help that program immensely. Other than a real fast turnaround, Washington would continue to be outrecruited, and a rebuilding effort could take years. Willingham never had a chance and Washington suffered very many injuries while on his watch. Maybe, that has to do with the SAC coach, but I am not sure. This conference can be very brutal. USC knocked more than eight Arizona Wildcat players out of the game last Saturday. Arizona was physically beat down. Washington has been beat down on many occasion. A "beat down" implies just that. Usually, there can be lots of injuries during one of these games. Washington has suffered more than their share.
You are very correct about their tradition. They do have very good football players in the State of Washington - at least enough to field a team. But, where they are today, is a long way from where they used to be at.
Clemson, maybe?
It was a bad game. There are better things to come. I agree with Tom; don't let that DC go. (Besides, I don't want ya take'n Kirelawich from us.)
What's your take on the game this Saturday? I'll be there.
Our backs are to the wall. If we play all 4 quarters, we could win. We've had double-digit leads in every game we've played this year, but we just can't finish with any strength. If you guys play like you did against Florida, we don't have a chance.
However, it would be sweet to go 3-0 against the Magnolia State this year...
:-)
Fans are so fickle these days and it disturbs me. This is my 24th season as an Auburn fan, and I've only suffered through 4 losing seasons. It's the suffering from fair weather fans that really gets to me...
Taking back the thread! Who do you like this weekend...Cal or Oregon?
How about Stanford as a 30+ favorite over WSU...that's ridiculous.
Whoever takes over at UW I certainly hope they can bring the program back. It's no fun to hate the Dawgs when they are so pathetic.
By the way, you mentioned our recruiting in WA. Well we may be trying but we aren't signing much. Only four players on the roster of 108 players are from WA. One of those is from Vancouver which is just Portland OR North.
