Fanblogs Open Conference Championship Thread
Unforunatly these are the kind of games that we regularly attend. Given the popularity of the program, tickets are real expensive and hard to get for the big time opponents. I cant count how many Texas vs Rice games I have seen in person-heck I cant count that high.
Hookem-Horns
Looking at the wins, not terribly impressive, I suppose. Louisville (5-7) won at home vs. K-St (5-7). S FL won a classic, at home, against KS, and UConn at home literally held off Baylor in another classic. The losses: WVU at CO (decided in OT), and Cincy (B.E. Champ) at OK (Big-12 Champ/NC runner-up). Now, if you look at that 2nd game, Cincy (relatively speaking) faired far better than either Tx Tech or MO, and about as well as TCU. So, arguably, the Bear-Cats aren't in bad company. I just wish they'd done better against VA Tech; they put up yardage on em, but not much on the scoreboard.
Tell ya wat, though. I honestly think in a couple of years a TX/WVU game would be fun to watch. Will it happen? Don't know, but at least we can talk about it.
The SFU vs KU I didnt get to see- comparable teams last year I guess.
Once again thanks man-alot of times I post from memory alone and I stand to be corrected- TX vs WVU sounds cool with me- Hey you got any eyetaliun recepies ? off season dude- uniform threads will probably follow- no doubt

peace out Tomcat
Probably. It's always better to schedule stronger opponents in the regular season, no matter who you're a fan of. However, I would much rather my team get disgraced in the MNC game and not choke and gag their way out of getting into it like USC seems to do every year. :-)
I'd call that "Big-Game" Progress... :)
Pryor is coming along, and at least Michigan will be a whipping boy for another year or so...I think you're going to be alright. :)
I'm being facetious. Wisconsin has no chance of ever getting into a National Championship game. So, why duck Texas? It doesn't stop them from getting into the Rose Bowl - even if they do lose the game. It smacks of "we don't want any more losses on our record than is absolutely minimal" - in order so we can get the best "Bowl Invite" possible. That is what is so disturbing. I praise teams like Ohio State, Texas and Southern Cal - who let the playing on the field determine how many games we're all gonna lose.
Nah, you couldn't be! I agree with you. I just wanted to get your dander up about September and you disappointed me with this reply! :-)
Look at Ohio State 2005 & 2008 and Virginia Tech 2007. In all cases, they scheduled big OOC games with powerhouses, lost big (although OHST didn't lose to TEX that bad in 05), and still had really good seasons culminating with BCS Bowls.
Same goes for SCAL; but they always seem to win...
It's a win-win to play good teams; it needs to happen more often...
USC year in and year out schedules the toughest nonconference teams and it doesn't seem to hurt them. They have more of a problem getting ready for Stanford and Oregon State. :-)
What are you babbling about, "not choke and gag their way out of getting into it like USC seems to do every year"? What kinda crap is that coming from you? You lost to Illinois in 2007, were an extremely overrated team (and so was Illinois), and still backed into the MNC game with one loss. I think when we destroyed Illinois 49-14 in the Rose Bowl, that that pretty much proved that a two-loss USC team, was still better than a one-loss Ohio State team was. You further proved it by being "blown out" by LSU. Seems to me that it is Ohio State that "chokes and gags" every year.
BTW, I am equally biased against all teams, as I did take home some money on your Bucks this year. I did consider that every single team in the Big 12 was overrated, and won money on every single game, except for the Kansas game. Why did I take Minnesota? Beats the hell outta me. But, you really ought to quit your yappin' about USC, as you still got one more azz poundin' to come.
At least they get into the MNC game, then choke and gag there against quality opponents, as opposed to choking and gagging against inferior opponents nearly every season. (Yeah, Illinois was the aberration for tOSU.) :-)
Looking forward to September when OSU returns the favor to USC at the 'Shoe.
Look me up if you plan on coming out. I'll show you a great time.
Don't you have any female relatives or friends that could handle that any better? Otherwise, I might take you up on the offer.
I'm happily married, but if you want to bring your bud Boi from Troy and double date with my wife and me, you're more than welcome.
"Look me up if you plan on coming out. I'll show you a great time".
This just doesn't sound much like a guy who's happily married. It sounds more like some of the squaws that I used to hang around with who were tryin' desperately to ditch me. On more than one occasion, I would overhear one of their telephone calls extorting exactly the same phrase, and within a week - they were long gone.
LMFAO
L8r
afterall he took Minn over KU
and braggs about beating ILL in 07 heck so did Missu
BTW even TCU beat Stanford that year and the entire Pac-10 is way overated once again
Yall ought to have a good one in the Shoe, yall got a QB that reminds me of Michel Griffin or Vince Young
Hookem-Horns
And what are you talkin' about? There's only steers and kweers in Texas. Unless you "moo" and chew a cud - I gotz to be wonderin' "whaz up"?
I also have a cousin out there who is a guru, he makes a killing massaging feet and reading eyeballs- he also prescribes holistic herbs and remedies. He has really found out that the wealthy celebrities out there just eat that kinda stuff up.We are all real proud of his accomplishments and enjoy hearing about his escapades, hanging out with movie stars etc etc. This is the same guy that used to pull corn, haul hay, dig graves and sell tacos when he was here.
Got to go hook up my trailer now-Adios Tomcat
LMAO
He took my neice and her husband out to dinner in LA- $200 a plate.
Long way from the welders helper on the Phillips pipeline. He flies home every year at Christmas.
We used to work on his daddy's ranch and after lunch, he would meditate, my Gradfather used to say he's not meditating, he's hesitating.
I know it sounds kind of funny, but what the heck, the guy is doing what he enjoys and people pay him for his services. Heck witha little training maybe he could get me involved, I've got some great lose weight and get in shape ideas- like the post hole digging exersize, the clear brush exersize and the shovel gravel exersize- I'll bet they will lose weight garunteed or their money back.
He used to sell foosball tables-remember those things.
Now, that thar is funny stuff. Sounds about right for some of these freaks out here. I haven't heard of the "reading eyeballs" scam. What on God's creation is that all about? Is it something like "palm reading"?
Man, if all I had to do was read some guys eyes to make a million bucks, I'd own half the planet by now. Shoot, used to be that you could shake some guys hand, and if he was some cold clammy limp wristed bag of sheeit - then you pretty much had him pegged. Guess those days are gone.
Through proper diet, exercize, meditation, yoga and different herbs and roots etc etc- he will fix you up and you will feel better. The guy is not really any kind of scam artist or anything, he is really good at what he does. Its kinda like seeing a chiropracter/ spiritual healer/personel trainer etc etc.
Massaging feet is alot different than reading palms. He helps people releive stress and feel better-so its really a purty cool job.
BTW one of his clients plays for AZ Cardinals
Oh, but you can make jokes about "the Boi from Troy", and that's perfectly acceptable. But, I'm a freak for being somewhat skeptical (it was a joke), about your real aspirations. I don't understand where in the world all of these "emotional" football fans come from. Must take years of losing for that to happen.
So anyway, let me see if I understand this correctly. You take an honest invitation to come to my home state, watch a game and tailgate, pervert it and shit on it not just once but twice, and then you expect me to somehow not be somewhat offended? (An invitation offered BTW, to show you that the smack talk was all in good fun.)
Ooooooo-kaaaaaaayyy.
I thought it was clear from my second comment (a response to your initial buffoonery) that I could care less about your obsession with sexual orientation, and that it was actually you who is fixated on something so stupid. Apparently, you're one of those people who has to be drawn a picture to go along with the text.
And apparently, you haven't seen other commenters here try to meet up and catch a game together, despite whether they're opposing fans or not. I'm pretty sure they're not coordinating some secret sex hookup...unless I'm just incredibly, surprisingly wrong about that. And to quote Seinfeld...not that there's anything wrong with that.
Here's a free tip. It's fine to be skeptical, but the next time you want to find out someone's intentions, try asking a few common sense questions first, rather than throwing juvenile, insulting "jokes" around.
And the next time, I guess I'll have to make sure I'm very specific when I offer an invitation to someone to go to a football game. That way, I'll be sure to filter out the nitwits.
Sorry you got issues. I didn't mean any "disrespect" toward your family. It was supposed to be fun, and I actually thought you were a fugkin' dude there for a minute, but I guess I got that one wrong. I noticed that Tomcat didn't have to take anything personally, and I didn't either, by either one of your remarks. Tomcat's out ridin' steer right now. Again, you brought up the "Boy from Troy" stuff. Normally, it's reserved for the ladies to invite some guy over "for a good time". If you can't understand that joke - then that is your problem. Ever guy I know, would jump all over me, for comin' up with that. I don't know what planet your livin' on guy. Are you Amish or something?
Kindly exchange emails, phone #'s, addresses, whatever, but please just take this personal love-hate soap operatic exchange the hell off a CFB blog.
I poke my head back in just check the latest CFB scuttlebut, and what the hell do I find?
"As the Blog Turns"
Settn' my gadar off....
Frankly I'd rather read 100+ posts about how Michigan deserved the NC's in '06, and Texas or Utah in '08, than this sappy sh*t.
Kindly tell each other to F%$k off, and be done with it--or plan your little rendevous via email, or some other private medium of communication...
GO GATORS!!
Who says you have to read it anyway? Read something else.
At any rate, I took your advice before you gave it. I just submitted my last comment about it.
"But, I'm a freak for being somewhat skeptical (it was a joke), about your real aspirations."
We've exchanged comments here at Fanblogs about college football before, and you didn't know I was referring to a football game? Then at the same time, you're "joking"? Which is it?
I'm sure your jokes would've been funny in an appropriate context. As I mentioned before, it's all about the timing. You know, after you've established what my "real" intentions were.
You know what? Whatever. It doesn't matter anyway. The issue is closed, as far as I'm concerned. I'm the one with the issues, so let's just leave it at that.
L8r.
I was never serious about any "ulterior motives". I was just funnin' with you. I know you're a straight up guy. It was a bad choice of words using "relatives" on my part. Nevertheless, I didn't mean any harm to you personally, and I apalogize if there has been a misunderstanding.
b/t/w: If recollection serves, the "piss'n contest" you referred to was all about the speed differential in UF v. OSU NC game--nothing about rely's, homo's, rendevous's, feel'ns, emotions, etc.; none of that soap opera stuff--just straight up CFB smack.
Carry on...
GO GATORS!!
Anyway, once again, I consider the matter closed.
L8r.
Oh, just kidding...
No one now wants to schedule good OOC opponents. That's why a playoff of conference champions gives us what we want. Great football games.
You can lose a game to a great team in September and still have a shot at the Glass Football.
Great road trips for all parties...
I'd love to see Tex vs Bama
A friend of mine whose wife went to Alabama said that you haven't lived until you've been to an Alabama home game. I'd love to see it happen...
Hookem-Horns
In 2006, the Buckeyes were seen vacationing all over Texas spending good cash and made it to Austin for the game. OSU won the game and the Buckeyes had a trip they'll never forget.
That doesn't happen when you play Louisiana-Lafayette.
The 'Shoe is incredibly loud. It sounds like 5 jumbo jets taking off when the crowd gets into it!
Tommy Trojan should start making his reservations now.
